Oga, Pharmacists in US are only allowed to prescribe OTC drugs..Do you know why ? Med. docs are scarce in some of those regions and the Pharmacists even do that in that closet not in hospitals...Because you couldn't get MBBS, you took PharmD as solace and you think you'd be able to play a Doctor with that ,it can never happen...You were trained to dispense and not to treat shits..You guys are potential killers...The only course in pharmacy that is relevant to practice of Medicine is Pharmacology and MBBS students will beat you People hands down in pharma as they studied the clinical applications also..At the end, is the drugs not going to the body? Without the knowledge of MORBID pathology, pharmD is only an upgrade to chemists because they know the use of drugs also...I've not mentioned Internal Medicine, surgery, paed , obs and gyna or Are you grounded in those aspects?
Stick to your drug production and dispensing as that's your job's description..
It's not late to get a MBBS degree though.
This will be my last reply to you stone.
You statement portrait your insensitive to life outside Nigeria (a geriatric, orthopaedic, ambulatory, psychiatric pharmacist only prescribe OTC ko?) . You are still a student which I don't know if you will even finish the med school self, talkless of entering pharmacy school.
In fact finish one first and come back to reply me
But I pray it's not late for you then.
poor stone should receive sense.

MrEgghead:
In Nigeria, everything goes...
In sane climes, you dare not change a doctor's prescription, you'll be jailed if found guilty...
Do you know about the diagnosis that you want to change the prescription? That's why he's a medical doc. he considers many factors before prescribing and that doesn't mean he's infallible.
A fulfilled pharmacist will quizz the doctor on why he's prescribing such drug and not change it.
Guy, the distance between a medic and a pharmacist is TOO far..Don't refer to a pharmacist as another doctor, he's not and he should be proud as a pharmacist.
Bro foam dey your head?
Which school you finish from?
Because you have been brainwashed here in Nigeria, Go abroad where you can't get out of any malpractice and see how you fellow are trending carefully.
You are here ranting rust.
Outside Nigeria, you have Pharmacist that can prescribe apart from their primary assignment. they hold prescribing licence.
And recently, the NHIS has given nurse with extra education right to do some minor surgery.
F**ls like you rant because they have little or no job to do. Place where things are going good, you will gladly mind your business.
If you are frustrated, go back to school and study pharmacy, I pray you can even graduate self.
You haven't seen anything yet, the next 10yrs will tell you how irrelevant you have become and how they have brainwash you
thanks I remain a Pharmacist not a medical doctor. I build, they rent.

mannyiyke:
Explain how doctors intrude, please. To the best of my knowledge, no doctor has ever practised pharmacy, but pharmacists intrude into medicine, to the extent that they now have beds in their pharmaceutical shops where they treat patients as if they were doctors.
You are frustrated. Don't worry you can go and rewrite jamb to study pharmacy.
People like you are suffering from poor job satisfaction. They have brain wash you telling you that you have everything by studying MBBS and you are now regretting. But brother it's not too late.
Please stop responding to this novice. Let the poor MBBS rest in peace.
You haven't seen anything yet o, wait for the next 10yrs, you will know how irrelevant your profession have become.

is a medical practitioner with mbbs eligible for Msc in pharmacy
You can't have Msc in Pharmacy as a whole. Just like you can't have Msc in Medicine as a whole.
An MBBS holder can not be a Pharmacist by doing PG in any department of pharmacy so also a Pharmacist can not be a doctor by doing PG in any of the Medical department.

I'm currently seeking admission into one of the universities in Nigeria. I actually wanted to go for pharmacy but due to some reasons, I had to chose Biochemistry while filling my Jamb. My question now is 'after getting the B.Sc in Biochemistry, will I be able to do my Masters in Pharmacy? if possible please let me know.

Thanks
M. Pharm is a clinical program that is offered in a department called Clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice of Faculty of pharmacy. Only pharmacists are eligible for a postgraduate or specialist program in the department. As a biochemist you can apply for different PG program in other departments such as Pharmacology, Pharmchem, pharmaceutics, Pharm Mcb, Pharmscognosy. Except case are;
1 only Pharmacists, doctors and sometimes Nurses are admitted for Msc and PhD of Clinical Pharmacology. But you are very fit for Msc in any other areas pharmacology.
2. Coming in for other departments in the faculty, you will be admitted but only pharmacists can be awarded PhD of a Department as a whole. E.g in dept of Pharmacognosy, you can have your Msc in Pharmacognosy but at PhD level you won't be award PhD in Pharmacognosy but a (pharmacist can have it) you will be award PhD in Phytomedicine, Ethnomedicine, Herbal or indigenous Medicines etc in their sub specialty.
3. With the new degree; PharmD (i.e doctor of pharmacy), the PCN has ordered that only pharmacist or a PhD holders as at that time will teach Pharmacy students ..... And very few non pharmacist make it up at the pharmaceutical industry which is now available for them.
4. In the pharmaceutical markets (not restricted to pharmacist. Any discipline can work here) which is now very competitive as well as tedious for non pharmacists because of company targets and others. But only a pharmacist can Medrep by law some drugs such as upper class poisons.
5. Nigeria pharmaceutical industries are very bad, poor and usually less pay. Some basically do compounding and can't avoid three full time young pharmacist talk less of a pg holder.
But having pg in any part of pharmacy departments gives you an upper hand in Pharmaceutical Lab which is a multidisciplinary society and respect all scientist opinion based on level of study and evidence.
Hope this helps.

PoliticsRe: Police Uncovers Fake Drug Production Factory In Lagos (photos) by kinglato(m): 10:11am On Dec 17, 2018
What a useless country. Nigeria didn't value the lives of her citizens. Nigeria pharmaceutical and health laws need to be reform and amend. How are this drugs entering the pharmaceutical markets when Implementing close system supply chain will do enough to combat drug abuse and misuse, fake drug, monitor therapeutic response, increase quality and quantity control measures.
It's in my country any body can handle drug, even mallam in the park are vendors of drug. Some of them prescribed and dispensed First Class poison. While in other countries (close to us here is S. A) Pharmaceutical industry is second must highly regulated next to the nuclear industry.
I have seen a whole family dead due to a mistake of a Patent medicine store and a whole country in chaos due to nervousness of a pharmacist in a pharmaceutical industry.
My point is this; the federal government should place adequate laws and regulations with strict punishment to offenders as other countries are doing. With this you don't bother too much on a wind or thief when your house is well securely closed.

EducationRe: Hijab Controversy: UI School Board Retains Dress Code by kinglato(m): 7:55pm On Nov 15, 2018
Mccullum:
British imposed their Christian's way of dressing in all public and schools by using face cap for the boys while girls uses beret cap which Christians of Nigeria turn to secular dressing, and Muslims agitated for using of hijab for their daughters, Nigerian Christians complaining seriously.

British denied Muslims to be at home on Friday to enjoy holiday for Jumat prayer while Christians enjoy that by going to church together with their family and Muslims' family pray separately on Friday due to no holiday for Jumat, Muslim parents don't complain.

British impose the cross of Christianity religion as the logo of hospital still Muslims didn't complain.

Some of the Christians hate seeing Muslim girls with hijab but they'll won't complain by seeing catholic sisters with their own style of veils.

ISI teachers are under pay roll of FG and you're claiming that is private school, this is absolute lie, private school my foot.

As South West is concern, all British tactics to impose Christianity in the lives of Muslims which our mothers and fathers survived and resists then as they were forced to add Christians' name before admission to schools and after independent with our constitution which enshrined in it on the right of freedom of religion and freedom of dressing, without violent Muslims ummah will continue to erase all British Christian influence on us through legal battles in competent court of law.
This guys is under sedative, are you the one that put them on FG payroll...... Why are you adding lies to your non-peaceful religion.

I just love how you people are trying so hard to twist the story to make it seem the killers were framed, when they themselves led the army to both burial sites and confessed to their crimes

And yet when people are gunned down by unknown gunmen, you immediately tag it as a herdsmen attack without any facts or evidence.

That's why Nigerian christianity is a plague and a blight on humanity.

But here's an incontrovertible fact: those bloody cannibals will pay for their crimes.
