In 2010, I was recommended to the coordinator of Miss Makama Beauty Pageant in University of Lagos by Adetunji Naija Child, Adedokun Fernandez and Adegbite James Adefemi. I was excited so I got to the show before the red carpet, spoke with some hot- legs and pageant competitors.

As soon as the show started, I told my camera man to move to the stage while I remained at the backstage for some underground works. A young guy walked to me, he introduced himself as Olamide, he asked me to interview him as I have done to other people but I soberly replied that I would have loved to do so even without telling me, but I had only one camera and it is not ideal for me to tell the camera man to get off the stage so I promised Olamide that I would follow him up on the stage, cover him and do an interview for him after the show. I have assisted many unknown artists to get to the stage for the first time in their life, through All Campus talents hunt shows. So as I promised him, I did so.

Denrele Edun was performing on the stage when he saw the back jacket of my camera man and started echoing ‘All Campus Show’ to give us publicity. I left where I was to the front stage beside my camera man, Denrele was challenging anyone who could come up to challenge him to dance, so I pushed up Aishat, a female artist I just met at the show. Later I went to meet Denrele on the high table where he was sitting with Mr Nigeria and some other dignitaries, I was talking to Denrele when I saw some strong faces sitting behind him so I excused myself that I will talk to him later, I left there so that I will not block their views. A guy went to the spot I left to talk to Denrele but he received a slap from the people sitting behind Denrele, the guy left the place angrily.

When it was the turn of Olamide to perform, he sang his hot track ‘ENI DURO’ this means “none would wait when trouble start” I was very sure this song gingered the guy who went out angrily. We heard gun shot from behind the crowd, this scattered the show, everybody ran helter skelter, I went to Sodeinde Male hall in UNILAG there to rest my head and because I love giving out fresh reports, I quickly wrote the report, centered it on Olamide and posted it immediately to Facebook and other platforms All Campus Show were affiliated with then. Some people called for the full report and I reported everything making sure I centered the report on Olamide.

Some months later, I saw the same song ‘ENI DURO’, same face in a video, I was so happy because I knew my report contributed to his success, but to my surprise, one of my boys came to me and said he heard Olamide speaking on air saying when he approached a producer at Makama show in UNILAG that he refused to assist him, I was so sad that this guy didn’t know what I did for him but I fulfilled what I promised him on the red carpet.

Still I didn’t believe Olamide could say this until I heard him on another interview when he said many people avoided him when he needed publicity. This made me think that Olamide is ungrateful or maybe he did not know that I really pushed the report for him.

In conclusion, my contribution to Olamide Badoo’s career is not the first and the last. I have in one way or the other assisted Ice Prince out of the industry to put some things together for him as well as Patoranking whom I shot his photo session at Royal Estate in the Games Village at Surulere, Lagos. I have assisted many youths and students by encouraging them in in many ways, I have also trained many Vice chancellors of the universities, many intra-campus conflicts has been resolved.
