A thorough vin check by me, showed that the engine had water damage....that was the last report on the vehicle history, which dated back to a few months..after that...it was later tagged 'Run and drive'...on an auction coy's website....So, I assumed that the engine and trans..had been replaced...and prolly wasn't recorded.... it was a case of fraud..on the part of the auction coy....pure misrepresentation.
Ps: I intentionally attached the pic of the vehicle...if you zoom in on the extreme right corner of the windshield, you'd find the 'Run and drive' tag.

Bro, I understand what you said and I did not misunderstood anything you wrote earlier on.

What I am saying is, that water damage history was never gonna be fixed abroad by any insurance or owner, even run and drive on auction site has a disclaimer to it. Trust me I've bid online a lot of times and I know what these guys do to a reasonable extent.

In case you didn't know, most of the used vehicles coming into the country from abroad are actually in worse state than this. No need to rubbish someone's advert when he isn't into any illegalities. Besides, the post by the OP was explicit enough to tell what needs attention in the vehicle in order to put it into decent running operation unlike some sellers who wont even tell you unless you discover for yourself.

I got a 2010 c300.(w204)..vehicle was containerized and the auction site regarded it as 'run and drive'...even tho, a search on the Vin history showed 'engine damage(water)'. After getting the car outta the container, the tagged 'run and drive' vehicle refused to start. I had to have it towed to a mechanic's workshop. Now, the mechanic says it's best I change the engine..
I'd love to know how much the engine costs...both the full engine and the one without the alternator, kick starter, injector nozzles etc. i.e Borale. Thanks.

Next time, when scouting for cars, and you see "water damage", whether freshwater or salt water or garden hose water, flee! You've entered one chance in this one and the probability of electrical damages may be high.

That said, what's done is done, get a Tokumbo engine and transmission.

I didn't buy it new, I bought it foreign used, imported personally, I've used it 6years I bought it at 160k miles and it's currently 195k miles.

I won't dispute that, most claims are unfounded and are just from one or two persons who have had the experience. It all depends on the experience the people around you have. Since yours is a personal experience then I have no reason to dispute it..

I didn't dispute the boldened, apparent RX330 is obviously better. But most luxury can't really withstand our bad roads here in Nigeria. Besides, I heard RX always has gearbox issues.

What you heard is fallacy, the assertions that most luxury can't withstand our terrains are unfounded. I'm talking from experience

Do an RX330. It's a very reliable and comfortable vehicle. It's considerate on fuel economy and has decent power. It's most common issues are dashboard cracks, catalytic failure, Oxygen sensor failure. Asides these, you've got no issues to worry about especially when you practice proper maintenance on it. I could easily go on and on and on about that vehicle because I've owned one and driven it so I know what's what about it.

3m is enough to get you a base model with decent mileage and decent history. But you may need to up your budget a bit to get the full spec units which are actually hard to come by.
Whatsoever you're doing, do not buy a flood salvaged or accident salvaged vehicles which had deployed airbags or damaged chassis.


By the way, my own person Lexus RX330 is up for sale at a reasonable price. It has been well maintained and will still go strong and smooth if the new owner will stick to same maintenance schedules I put into it.
