The Sustainable Mechanism for Improving Livelihoods and Household Empowerment, SMILES, in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development, USAID, has identified over 30,000 children without birth registration and certificates in parts of Benue state Nigeria records births on new year day – photo for illustration This was disclosed at the weekend in an advocacy meeting the organizations had with the National Population Commission, NPopC, to ensure a mop up by registering the new born and issuing birth certificates to benefiting children. Speaking during the advocacy meeting, the State Coordinator of SMILES, who is also from ActionAid Nigerian, Mr. Godwin Agia said the intervention was covering seven local government areas of the state including Ado, Otukpo, Vandeikya, Kwande Gwer Esat, Oju and Okpokwu. He said the objective of the advocacy was to develop solutions to the challenges associated with birth registrations and the issuance of birth certificates. Oyo – Workers at the Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa, on Wednesday commenced an indefinite strike over non-payment of salaries, poor welfare and non-accreditation of courses. The three unions in the institution are involved in the strike. ASUU strike They are the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP), Non- Academic Staff Union (NASU) and Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP). Ibarapa Polytechnic is the fifth institution out of the six owned by the Oyo State Government to join an indefinite strike declared by the unions. Among those on strike are Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo; Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate; Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki; Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora and Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa. Osogbo – The Police Command in Osun on Tuesday arrested one Sifau Michael, 40, for allegedly killing his mother, Awulatu Sifau, 65, with a machete in Ogunjija village, Osun. According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Mrs Folashade Odoro, the incident was reported to the police by one Segun Atanda at about 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Odoro said it was reported to the police that the suspect hacked his mother to death and that at about 3:30 p.m., police detectives were deployed to the scene of the incident. The detectives arrested the suspect at the scene of the incident and took the corpse of the deceased mother to the hospital. The governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode on Saturday came to the rescue of 50 Nigerians who were stranded in Russia. Recall that newsmen had reported that over 50 Nigerians were helpless and were sleeping around in the streets of Russia after their agents whom they paid over one million naira failed to provide them jobs as promised. Some of them told newsmen that they used the official Fan IDs to come to Russia with the promise of finding work or even playing professional football themselves. Others said they came to watch World Cup matches but got stranded when their return plane tickets were cancelled by bogus travel agencies that booked them. Goodday Webmasters, I installed a mod to my smf forum and it affect my homepage and i thought its a minor thing, so i went on to my cpanel and delete the BoardIndex.php which later stopped from accessing my homepage. Please what can i do, i need ur help. Thanks in advance. |
