Politics / Obaseki: I Won’t Back Philip Shaibu To Succeed Me by kingsman66(m): 7:11am On Aug 07, 2023
Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki yesterday explained why he would not back his deputy, Comrade Philip Shaibu, to succeed him.

He said it was not yet time for intense politicking, as doing so would be a distraction.

The governor’s Special Adviser on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie, said no amount of blackmail would make the Edo governor support Shaibu’s governorship aspiration at this time.

The media aide said it was his boss’ well-considered position that abandoning governance to pursue intense politics now would not be in the best interests of the Edo people

Osagie, who described Shaibu as a rabble-rouser, noted that he took his indiscipline and hubris to the zenith by trying to create a crisis.

The spokesman said: “Shaibu always plays the card of a very loyal deputy, but this is far from reality. A sinner runs when no one pursues him.

“The most blame goes to Governor Obaseki for trying to adopt a civilised manner in relating with his deputy, in a society where such gesture would be taken for weakness.”

The relationship between the governor and the deputy was ruptured over the deputy governor’s decision to contest next year’s election.

The governor is believed to be backing a Lagos-based professional to succeed him in office.

As a result of the frosty relationship, the deputy governor has gone to the Federal High Court in Abuja to seek protection from victimization.

Comrade Shaibu is currently away in the United States.

Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, said he and other leaders of the party will intervene.

Aziegbemi, who spoke to our reporter on telephone, said chieftains of PDP in Edo were working behind the scenes to ensure peace, especially to quickly resolve the face-off between Obaseki and Shaibu.

He said: “No PDP lawmaker in Edo State House of Assembly has informed me of any move to impeach the deputy governor. As a party, we are not aware of the impeachment plot.

“We will soon get over the disagreement between Governor Obaseki and Comrade Shaibu, as we are making efforts, but you do not expect me to give the details on the pages of the newspaper.”

Edo chairman of PDP also urged residents of the state to continue to support the focused Obaseki’s administration

The Assistant Publicity Secretary of APC in Edo, Victor Osehobo, however, declared that Obaseki’s aspiration to become godfather would fail, in view of his not being patient to learn from his political leaders.

Osehobo said: “I have no iota of sympathy for the outgoing deputy governor of Edo, who is scared and wailing that he will be impeached.

“I am concerned that it is all part of a plan, doomed to fail, for Obaseki to become the godfather in Edo state.

“He cannot be seeking to choose his successor, posing as a godfather, whereas he opposed godfatherism over time.

“As a godson, Obaseki did not wait to get sufficient guidance from his godfather, to understand the responsibilities and expectations associated with the role.

“Becoming a godfather requires a certain level of preparation, including learning, understanding the importance of the role, and being committed to being a positive influence. Obaseki invested time and effort into destroying his own godfather.

“Shortly after he took office in 2016, Obaseki became a bad godson. He destroyed the bond and connection with his godfather.

“Being a godfather is a lifelong commitment, and requires regular involvement in the godchild’s life. The man (Obaseki) should serve his tenure and leave.

Politics / Don’t Be Far From Me If You Cross Over, Fubara Urges Wike by kingsman66(m): 7:59am On Jun 19, 2023
The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged his predecessor, Nyesom Wike not to stay away from him even if he crosses over to other side of the political divide.

The governor said this on Sunday at a thanksgiving reception for Wike at his private residence on Ada-George Road, in his hometown, Rumueprikom in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

“While we are seeing sign that it’s like you want to go over to the other side with everybody wishing that, please don’t be too far from me because I know that the sharks, the tigers are really around looking for what to hurt.

“So, being around would continue to guide and put my head straight for the purpose of this state,” Fubara said.

His appeal is coming amid speculations that the former Rivers State governor could dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike turned his back on his party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 general elections, supporting the candidate of the APC, Bola Tinubu, who eventually emerged victorious at the polls.

Before the polls, Wike, alongside four other PDP governors, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State making up the G5 governors, refused to back Atiku, saying that it was the turn of Southern Nigeria to produce the president after eight years of President Muhammadu Buhari who is from the North-West.

Tinubu scored 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku, who came second with 6,984,520 votes and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, who came third with 6,101,533.

Before his swearing in, Tinubu was invited to River State by Wike for inauguration of projects executed by the former governor.

Wike has also been seen at the Aso Villa several times with some APC members since Tinubu’s inauguration as Nigeria’s President, further fuelling the speculations of him jumping ship.

Many political bigwigs graced Wike’s reception on Sunday, with President Bola Tinubu represented by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Joining the list of guests at the event were Governor Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), high-ranking APC stalwarts and members of the 10th National Assembly including Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, ex-Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole; ex-Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi; member representing Borno South Senatorial District, Ali Ndume

Others are Acting PDP Chairman, Umar Damagum; former Governors Peter Odili (Rivers), Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), Ayo Fayose (Ekiti) and James Ibori (Delta) as well as all G5 members

Politics / My Assets Declaration Is Open, I Bought My US Home Legally – Keyamo by kingsman66(m): 6:54am On Apr 24, 2023
Festus Keyamo has said that he has nothing to hide, and as such his detractors will have nothing to hold on to even as they continue to pry into his private and public affairs.

Kayamo who stated this in a Tweet on Saturday, was reacting to a recent viral news claim regarding his property in the United States.

The Minister of Sate for Labour and Employment, said he acquired his property in the U.S legally, adding that the house which was the bane of discussion is the least of his belongings.

In his to a claim that he acquired the US home for over $300,000 shortly after he was appointed minister in 2019, Keyamo asserted that prior to his becoming a public office holder, he declared his assert, adding that everyone could verify what he had at the time and as such the claim is unfounded.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), while stressing that he did not need to steal money from the nation’s coffers to acquire any property, said he ensured he kept in line with the laws that do not allow public officials to operate foreign bank accounts, to ensure that transparency prevails.

According to Keyamo, the funds were some savings he made “as a private legal practitioner and a property investor over decades.”

He added that it is a shame that because some persons like him operate in the most modest way, people continue to underestimate their achievements.

Crime / Assault: Portable Granted Bail, Remanded Till Conditions Are Met by kingsman66(m): 4:44pm On Apr 03, 2023
Delivering his ruling on application for bail made by the singer’s counsel, the presiding judge said the offences are bailable and granted him bail with bail bond of N300,000 and N500,000 as well two sureties who must reside within the jurisdiction of the honorable court.

The court, however, ruled that the defendant be transferred to the Ilaro correctional centre pending the time his bail requirements are met.

The case has been adjourned to April 26 for the commencement of trial.

On Saturday, Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi said portable was arrested for resisting arrest and injuring a policeman.

“There are many pending cases of assaults on people and attacks, and he will be investigated because people have complained against him.

“So, there is no sentiment in law, let him appear in court, and allow the judge to listen to the charges against him. He has no constitutional immunity anyway,” he said.

I am sure u are very awake as i have addressed MCs case, but portable has more than 6 count charges to attend to, apart
from resisting arrest and injuring a police man. He will be charged to court for beating up a guy in otta, who fired a petition to CP Ogun.

post=121771812:
Nigerians are the number one problems of Nigeria 🇳🇬.
God help Nigeria 🙏

Nigerians are the problems of Nigeria.......for real!

Greed and Dishonesty, the two main problems of an average Nigerian.
Read along to understand our reasons for saying so......

(N.B : If you are a fraudster and criminal on Nairaland,
Skip to the next post or you may not survive reading this)

*HOME TRUTH*

I run a manufacturing business and a trading business.
The biggest challenge in my manufacturing business is not power, or infrastructure, the biggest challenge is getting honest staff. Everyone we hire appears to be on a mission to steal as much as possible. Inflated invoices, recording less than the actual number of units produced. The worst part of it all is that all the fraud we've uncovered is not done by a single person, it's usually many staff who collude with each other, from production, to sales, to finance, even top management. There was a year I overhauled management 3 times in a year.........
But me, I've found a solution sha, I now use Indian management. So competent, so honest and so straightforward. I thought they were expensive at first with all the visa fees, accommodation, house staff, but now that losses due to staff theft have been reduced to a minimum, and efficiency increased, the Indian management has turned out to be cheaper than the previous Nigerian management. Now, all sensitive positions involving money go to Indians. Nigerians are only allowed in non-sensitive positions. I used to criticize companies like Dangote Group that hire so many Indians when there are many unemployed Nigerians, but now, I understand their decision.

My biggest challenge in the trading business is the same, getting honest staff. The form of trading occurs in the open market, and involves staff having access to huge sums of money running into a few millions. I know how much I pay to security companies to provide escorts for the staff, not to prevent robbery, but to ensure that the staff go straight to the bank to deposit the money after the day's sales and not disappear with my money. This money spent on security companies is even enough to be declared as profit. We have to spend on CCTV, biometric scanners and other things that wouldn't be needed if staff weren't looking for the slightest opportunity to steal.

It got so bad at a point that my main criteria for employing staff was no longer competency but honesty. At least, competency and skills can be learnt, but once you're dishonest, you're dishonest.

We always complain of the economy and how there are no jobs. I know people abroad who would have loved to set up job creating businesses in Nigeria but they can't because they can't get any trustworthy person to run it.

I know people in Nigeria with so much money, they want to start factories and other job-creating businesses but they can't because they are occupied elsewhere and can't get any trustworthy person to run the business. So instead of investing in the real sector and creating jobs, they'll just buy treasury bills, while the thieves are shouting no jobs.

Many big businesses would have been born in Nigeria if we could engage in partnerships, but we cant because you can't trust anyone. This is one advantage the Indians and Lebanese have over us in Nigeria. They can pull resources together and do mega-business, unlike Nigerians that because only one person must do everything since we can't partner, end up with small, tiny businesses.

Start a poultry and they will be stealing your eggs. Some will even go ahead to be killing the chickens so that they'll be allowed to take them home.

Start an entertainment/viewing/game center and they'll be pocketing your money. On the days you're around at the business, the money realized will be x10 of the money realized when you're not around..... Because they're eating your money.

Lease out a vehicle to a driver to use and watch as he'll finish you.

Start a restaurant, the same thing will happen. More than half of the total food ingredients will end up in their personal kitchens.

Even ordinary provisions shop, they will find a way to steal.

You'll see them with that their evil, wicked saying "na where person dey work, na there e dey chop, na e make dem dey callam workchop/workshop"...... Just imagine, justifying theft at work.

And you'll see these people point their crooked fingers at politicians when they're not any different. I usually say the reason most Nigerians haven't stolen billions of government money, is simply lack of opportunity.

*On every level, Nigerians are the problem of Nigeria*.

If the truth wanna kill the online fraudsters and criminals we have on Nairaland,
you guys should better die now.
We will continue to hit your head as much as we can with the truth and be against your fraudulent lifestyle ALWAYS.
For all the scams you have scammed innocent people all over the world, and they end up committing suicide or becoming homeless, and y'all here thinking you are living large, kid you not, you will never enjoy that fraudulent money, it will lead you to your grave soonest. (You can keep hating honest, and hardworking members on this forum, but some of us will continue to kill you with the truth.)
Only if God doesn't exist.
Thieves, Barawos everywhere
.

**********************************

GREED!!!

When we say we are our own problem they start grumbling.....

Okay listen to these examples:

1. You sell chicken and add over 40% profit ,you are happy forgetting that the person that bought the chicken sells tomatoes and pepper.

2. The tomatoes and pepper seller has to recover the excess she paid for the chicken, so she adds her own 42% profit margin.

3. Teacher will come and buy these 2 items with what? She has no other alternative than to increase lesson fees or school fees.

4. You will go and rent house from a landlord who has paid excess for cement, sand, chicken, tomatoes and pepper, lesson fees, how will he meet up if not by increasing his house rent by 60%.

And the circle continues, it is not about dollars, dollars is just an excuse, abi wetin concern garri, beans and yam with dollars.

The problem is you and I and our excessive greed.

Only a fraudster or criminal will be wailing about our above post.
We hope you ain't one of them kiddo?
If so, we understand your weeping about the honest truth.
No wonder you are your fellow children are always wailing and in serious pains reading our posts here.
The earlier, the better for you.
Advice from the elders kiss

Sure we do get the good ones among the youths.

Only sane, honest and hardworking Nairalanders like you will definitely like our answers and comments,
Not the miserable fraudsters aka, children of hate, frustrations and perdition that abound here.
God bless your legit hustle man.
It will end in praise for you.

I applaud you for trying to discover who QNET is before taking the next step; at least you have saved yourself and many others like you from an even bitter story if you had fallen victim to any fraudulent activity. The people gave you half-baked truth. My search into direct selling led me to know that QNET has been in business since 1998 and does have a global presence in more than 25 countries and customers in nearly 100 countries. It is also a member of the Direct Selling Association, a self-regulatory industry body with strict rules and codes of conduct in several countries.
It is, however, essential to note that QNET does not offer jobs or travel opportunities in exchange for payment, as you mentioned here. They only reward you with a commission as gratitude for introducing others to purchase their products too. You do not need to pay anyone to buy your products for you, nor do you get a commission if no product purchase has been made or recorded. I’d advise that you get the name of the distributor trying to register you and verify their legitimacy by emailing network.integrity@qnet.net. once when I was almost scammed like this, I sent them an email, and they helped me confirm that I was about to be scammed because those trying to initiate me into it were not registered Independent Reps. Even such reps are not company staff but people who only buy and sell from them. They will do the same for you too.
