Hands over passport and i-20 VO: What will you be doing in the US. Me: I’ll be pursuing an MBA from Penn State University. VO: How did you hear about the school? Me: Research. It’s no. 1 in supply chain management, which is what I would like to transition to from assurance. I also got feedback about the program from a former colleague who’s there now. VO: What will the MBA do for you? Me: It will enable me transition from easily from being an auditor to a supply chain management professional. VO: What’s the duration of your MBA? Me: Two years VO: How do you intend to fund your MBA? Me: I have a fellowship that waives tuition for the two years of the program and provides a monthly stipend for living expenses. The little balance will be covered from personal savings. VO: How many schools did you apply to? Me: Four. VO: Name them Me: University of Maryland, Notredame, Rochester VO: How many did you get accepted into? Me: All but Notredame. I got waitlisted by Notredame VO: Did you write any standardized tests? Me: Yes VO: Which? Me: GRE and TOEFL VO: You had applied last year to a different school. What school was that? Me: Arizona State – WP Carey VO: You were denied a visa, know why? Me: Not given a reason. I suspect the VO had issues with the loan letter from MPower. She said there was meant to be an address on the loan letter, which I escalated to MPower, but was informed that the letter was a standard letter issued to all applicants. VO: Hands over white paper and explains that it will take some time to process the visa. |

AMEN I RECEIVE IT. fairheart: I only share this dream with a few students who are close to me. But let me tell those of you going for your interview soon. I dreamt 9 days ago that the US embassy issued a lot of student visa this year, and in the dream, I was very happy. This should relieve tension and boost your confidence as you prepare for this crucial moment. Congrats to all of you in advance. |

Stop speaking like this, it is people who've always been privileged in every aspects of life that speak like that. And people who probably have never tasted disappointments. Life isn't always fair, it doesn't offer everyone the same chances/advantages. bracelum: Stop sounding philosophical - this is reality! If you don't use resources at your disposal and achieve success like >90% of your classmates, it is your fault. It is the same "life" you all are experiencing and the fact they became successful shows that they worked harder or smarter than you. |

The reasons for denial are obvious. Apart from the school, you failed on two attempts to explain why you chose this school. The VO gave you chances twice which was why he smiled at some point cos you didn't get it. Research the unique points of the school and your course better and refire. demmysoft: Recently, l requested for someone who can assist me in reviewing my transcript before l go for the interview but unfortunately there was no response, l pm some people as well but non replied. By the way, l need your candid advise on my last visa delay at Abuja embassy last Thursday.
vo: good morning me: good morning sir vo:passport please me: l passed my passport and 1-20 form vo: you are going for graduate study in Maharishi University me: yes sir vo: tell me why did you choose this school me: having work for some years as software developer, the school course content and the academic curriculum perfectly fit into my current exp and my future career goal . . . . cuts in and asked me a question but l don't really understand the question because it was during my explanation he cut me off (just overheard the school name) and l don't want to assume, then l said pardon vo: how many schools did you apply to Me: 3, and mentioned them, Georgia southern university, university of New Haven Vo: why did you now choose this university Me: likewise l said the school course content fit into my current experience, the school specialized in software development (cuts in with a smile but others school as well), then l cuts in too what l meant is that before l was admitted to the school, l wrote an entry exam in JAVA which need to be passed before you can be admitted, the schools checked and verified previous project previously handled . . . . Vo: ok
Me: then l continued, tuition fees and living expenses affordable compare to other universities, the financial aid package . . . Vo: sorry, your visa is not approved Me: OK, thank you, can you please tell the reason in case of next time l will . . . Vo: sorry, can you allow me attend to another applicant please. Me: nah so l smiled, ok thank you sir.
Kindly advise on the next line of action,
1. Should l reapply for the second time before the school resume in May. 2. Should l wait till September for the other admission
Profile, Bsc in computer sci 2.1 Graduated since 2005 but have some certification No GRE
The school have low initial entry payment $5000 and the remaining $21,000 is covered by financial aid package (student loan), stated on the l-20 and given the award letter. |

Oh great! Not far off the free evaluation then. Thanks for the information. kidUrbane: Hi, The online free WES evaluation only provides an idea of what your actual score after evaluation would be. I had a UG GPA of 3.63/5.0 scale. With the free WES online I had 3.24, after the official WES evaluation I had 3.26. |

Hello house,
Please if I use the online free WES evaluation, does it make the result equivalent to what it would be if I did the paid one? I want to know if the scores mean the same thing. I had 3.62/5.0 scale in a Nigerian undergrad. Online free WES evaluation gave me 3.13/4.0scale. Is it safe to state it on applications that I have 3.13 on a 4.0 scale? Thanks! |

You're right though. And no, it's not about the schools deadline. I just have a cope I scanned a while back with my phone so I wanted to use it. But a hunch tells me that It could be a risk not worth taking. Thanks for the correction. bracelum: Even though it might come to a point when technology can make us do things very easy, I still prefer doing things the old-school way in order to be on the safe side. It doesn't hurt to spend a few hundreds of naira to scan your transcripts through a scanner. I have used a picture (taken with a clear phone camera) of a document as a replacement for a scanned copy and it worked fine. However, a scanned copy is always the best option.
So why are you using a phone scanner? Is today your submission deadline and you suddenly realized you don't have your documents ready? Or better stated, did you procrastinate the scanning until the deadline, which is today? |

For today Sunday alone? I applied for the same viking application on February 14th but they're yet to waive the fee on my profile. I've sent an email to the treasury and admissions Office but yet to get response. omoobaadeNGR: NOTE: CSU is waiving the $40 application fee on March 17, 2019, for new graduate applicants. For the Viking Application, select “pay by mail” to submit.
You do not have to complete the entire application on March 17th to get the waiver. You can submit transcripts and/or test scores at a later date. |
