I think you should take out the refrigerator cus of it's high power consumption.

For the other appliances, a 2.4kva + 200ah (2 units) will do. It will cost you N160k (excluding logistics)

But if you still want to power ur fridge, then you might get another unit and dedicate it to the fridge. You might use 100ah(2 units) if cost is an issue and save 40k off this unit.

If there is electricity at ur grandma's place (upto 6 hours daily) then you dont need solar, what u need is just an inverter which will help store power when PHCN supply is on so that she can use it when there is no PHCN supply.

What the solar system does is just to charge your inverter battery. PHCN and Gen. can also do this. Those who want solar want to get rid of PHCN and Gen. outrightly. Solar is a bit expensive at the initial acquisition but it is cost effective in the long run.

naijabands: In layman's terms, what will 1.2kva power? To power a TV, dstv, 3 fans, 10 energy saving bulbs for 6hrs, what does one need?

Power budget

TV and DSTV... 300watts
3 fans 450 watts
10 bulbs 200 watts

Total = 950 watts

Recommendation:- 2.4kva inverter (1900 watts) , cus 1.2kva inverter (950w) is not appropriate. A buffer in form of excess capacity is needed to enhance the longevity of your inverter.

For 6 hours or more and with an inductive load like fans (3), I will recommend dat you go for 2 units of 200ah batteries.

2.4kva inverter with 2 batteries (new) = N160k

2.4kva inverter with 2 batteries ( fairly used) = N120k

enigmang: does it come with a warranty??

Sure. The 2kva is 1 year for inverter and 6 months for batteries. Same for the 1.2kva except for the battery dat is 4 months warranty cus it is fairly used battery but very ok. That's why the price was brought down. A typical 200 ah battery alone (brand new) goes for between 50-55k.

I have just one unit of the 1.2kva package left, the 1st to pay gets it. Ordinarily, it would cost more if it were to be with a brand new battery.

If you want 2.4 kva then the batteries needed will be 2 because it is a 24 volt system. The cost for that is quite different. This offer is an exclusive special package. 1.2kva inverter uses just 1 battery.

I have a 50ah variable charger that can do this for you. it has multiple settings forr different voltages (i.e 12, 24, 36 ad 48v for 1, 2, 3 or 4 batteries charging respectively )
The Amperage is from 0 - 50amps. When the battery is fully charged, the amperage will gradually return back to zero (net charging). You can set the charging current too.
