InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by kintus(m): 10:14am On Jan 06
We experienced a sustained market downtrend for over three months last year, from October to December. Against that backdrop, advising investors to exit after just one week of positive movement appears premature.

It is reasonable to encourage caution, particularly in uncertain conditions; however, issuing guidance that does not align with the prevailing market momentum may be misleading and, frankly, unhelpful.

Cheers.

iskalamong:
Nothing really.

But from experience, when the market is rallying, it tends to go higher than expected.

Also, this rally may be a combination of the regular Q1 rally plus the santa rally not experienced last year. Thus, the rally may be sustained.

Also, as its a fresh year, many will likely FOMO in (both individuals and institutions) potentially fueling the rally.

Thus, you may want to carefully analyse the stocks you hold before cutting in a rush. A more pragmatic approach would be a staggered exit. This way, you exit partially while riding the bull. Hence, you won't completely miss out should price over-extend.

On the flip side, the Nigerian stock market is notorious for liquidity disappearance. That is, once the bull is over, many stocks may become fully offered. Hence, it is advisable to be on the watch to take profit (especially if you're not a passive investor). Typical example is the rally of insurance stocks in January 2025 (e.g SUNUASSUR) and the subsequent sharp reversal.

In conclusion:
If you're in the market, HOLD or exit gradually as the market is bullish. A good check may be to ask yourself the kind of results that the company can release or dividends that can be declared that will raise price further. Once prices are these high, it may be a good time to exit.

If you're not in, be careful of FOMO. Buy only fundamentally sound stocks that are still cheap in valuation terms. The rally will not last forever. I remember January 2024, the market was very bullish only to reverse aggressively towards month end and the following months of the quarter were quite bearish.

Those that entered late were punished. Many that didn't take profit in time regretted as well.

Sorry for the long epistle.

I had to carry newbies along as well.

Cheers!

Iskalamong!

So many angry fellows in this forum lately.
Can we please channel this energy somewhere else?

We all came here for investment discussions, but the energy we're putting out isn’t right for this space. Money doesn’t like this kind of vibration.

Let’s keep things positive.
Wishing everyone a greenful and dirty December ahead. 💚💸

Wise move.

Thank you, Sir.

I have some cash, about 3% of my portfolio size. I don't plan to use it to invest but if the market chooses to get silly in terms of prices then I will gladly use it to buy lower. So if for some reason Zenith goes below N50 I will invest the money knowing that the panic is getting a bit wild. if it doesn't and it hovers around current levels then I will use my money and enjoy my life.

Hope that clarifies things

Boss this is contradictory...
You're happy with some valuations....+ve
You believe this is the bottom....+ve
You have some cash.....+ve
You don't want to deploy it......-ve

So what are you still waiting for EXACTLY? Just curious

nosa2:
I am happy with some of the valuations and I am fully in the market. I still hold some cash but I don't think I will need to deploy it. Basically I think we are at the bottom

I think petition won't really change nothing. Okay.....the THEME of my message is a bit different from the response, but your feedback is still helpful.
Your recommendation - OF BUYING THE RED - should be the loudest - instead of the mockery and the taunting.

Remember what the Gospel says about people with such character. Ref: Proverbs 24:17-18, Romans 12:15.

Thank you, Boss.
ogawisdom:
You need some stock market education. Except for some one in a dead stock, when a sound stock like Aradel, Zenith etc is bleeding it means the market is begging investors to come and make money because it is very temporary and won't last long, latest by February the bull is back.

So if you have a sound stock that is bleeding you should be happy to be able to buy more at a cheaper rate.

The people unhappy are inexperienced in the market and have no cash to buy more.

November- December is known as discount season and every stock bleeds as some people prepare for Christmas celebrations. The market has seasons and cycles.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by kintus(m): 8:46am On Nov 05, 2025
Oga AwesomeJ,
Thank you for your response.
If read in-between the lines, you’ll realize my concern isn’t about who took profit or who is a long-term investor in the market.
My message is simply to discourage the unwarranted and unsolicited mockery of either newbies or those caught off-guard by the market dip.

At a time like this, two things are most appropriate:
1. Stay silent, or
2. Be positive and offer words of encouragement.

Some people are not yet used to market cycles and may not be able to chest the red. Such individuals could become overly worried or even sell at a loss — which helps no one.

As the elders say, if you cannot help, don’t kill them.
We owe our fellow compatriots at least that much.

Remember, not everyone got to where they are today solely by their own efforts — Na God still run am for them.
So why taunt others who are still waiting on God to pick their calls? 🙏🏽

awesomeJ:
I'm

Witchcraft kwa??
Why can't my brother take his profit and await another entry?

If my brother doesn't understand the cyclical nature of the market then he's only just paying for his inexperience.

If however my brother is a long termer like Buffet, then he needs to understand that any losses aren't yet realized and thus should be less bothered by price volatility.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by kintus(m): 8:35pm On Nov 04, 2025
Why are some people happy when the market bleeds?

Do you take delight in seeing your fellow brother lose money? Why celebrate another man’s downfall?

How does it even give you joy to come here and keep chanting “red, red, red”?

If this were a village setting, such an attitude would easily be likened to witchcraft.

We need to be more considerate of others — their emotions and mental health — before throwing our unsolicited jabs.

Better days are ahead. 🌱

Nice observation. Personally, I feel the changes observed in the nations economy would have some impact in the market. We should expected the unexpected and plan for the best.

Some of us are still in loss and may have the option of averaging down while expecting the assumed recovery in Jan/Feb.

Thank you, Sir.

Stockhunter:
True market cannot be timed. But certainly october cant possibly be better than Nov/dec if you observe the market, even with some good results yet price de drop. Meanwhile if you pick good stocks, by january when investors will be coming back in order to enter with the CGT they will be buying from you. I have like 3 stocks i was eyeing which didnt enter my radar in october but are gradually getting close to my range. Na to de pick am 50k, 100k naira de go small small.

This is a good time to have cash. I think i will go for a loan to do some picking this November.

Some of us have made the mistake in the past and we hope that you newbie learn from history rather than experience.

In the other news: why is it difficult to deposit money into Atlas through their sterling account?

Any alternative pls?

I am looking at getting Tantaliser, Tip and Cutis and more of VFD......any thoughts on this? I can hold for another 2years.
