meneski:Thank you. But please, if you're genuinely sure you indicated your interest at the time, all you need to do is say it and you're back in the competition. |
Collins10:They've all been taken into consideration. |
meneski:Meneski. I wouldn't know if you edited your post and added your name. I checked and I can see your comment on the other thread, but I'm not sure you made the rest of that comment before the deadline. I don't remember seeing the rest of your comment as at that time. Btw, I don't know you and I don't know why I would single you out just to "wicked" you. This is your comment on the other thread meneski:If I can recall, this is the only comment that was there at that time meneski:You didn't include the required comment. However, if you can convince me otherwise, please do and you'd be considered. Thanks |

The Storyline For The First Stage Of The Competition You're a doctor and a seasoned surgeon. Your fiancé/fiancée has just been involved in an accident and is brought to your hospital for emergency treatment. You're the best person to perform the surgery that might save the life of your loved one, however, you can't because you become emotionally unstable and there's a rule against treating loved ones and family members. The surgery goes on and your loved one doesn't make it out alive. These events happen in your very eyes and you can't do anything to help. Write a story from the doctor's perspective and how the events unfold. The gender of the doctor is entirely up to you. Candidates are given until 6pm Monday evening to turn in their stories. The total words for this stage should be 1000 words Candidates are to turn in their write-ups to the email address Chikerelance@gmail.com. These stories would be posted here accordingly by Wednesday. The title of the email should be Stars 2017 Writing Competition with your monikers. Candidates are advised to write in a clear and simple language. Their works should be proofread and edited carefully before sending as changes and modifications would not be allowed. NOTE!! Candidates are not to post their stories on this thread any longer! The STARS COMPETITION 2017 REGISTRATION HAS ENDED |
Divepen1. I'd like you to help in the process of choosing the panel of judges that would be kind enough to read through everyone's stories and pick the best. I would like the panel of judges to comprise of 5 individuals. Me, taking a spot. And then, you're at liberty of taking a spot for yourself and picking out three remaining individuals who are willing to help with the judging process or just picking out 4 individuals besides yourself. These individuals would receive airtime gifts from me at the end of the competition. Very small perhaps, but we can only hope for better times. At the end of the first stage, the nominees would emerge from points from all five judges. Each judge can only choose 7 stories at a time. If the judges choose stories that are in conflicting number, further deliberation would be made to take into points like level of Grammer and grammatical errors. Thank you. If you have any suggestions, I'll be more than happy to hear them. |
kinwayne:The competition guidelines has been revised. Everyone please take note. Thank you |
D9ty7:I can remember wining Princesa's award in 2014 for best upcoming writer. ![]() |
sekem:Please read the disclaimer on Nairaland's Frontpage. I don't know what other people are capable of doing. But for me, I have no intention of using your stories. |
D9ty7:Yes. I intend making it a monthly thing. Let's just see how this one goes. Thanks |
Greatzeus:Thank you for your kind words. |
BiafraBushBoy:I understand. The price may seem small but like I said, it's sponsored by me and if all goes well, I could make the competition monthly. |
sekem:Your story won't be posted on any other platform. You have the right to your story |
Divepen1:Thank you. You can invite all writers you feel would be interested. |
Lalasticlala please move to fp for more people to see this. Thank you |
KimberlyWest:Yes, money is involved ![]() |
Interested participants are to make their interests known by commenting their moniker with the hash tag #Stars Competition. Deadline for registration ends on Wednesday 28th of June. **MODIFIED** As a result of the number of interested participants and all the feedback I received, I've decided to cut down on the stages to two. The competition would now be divided into 2 stages In the first stage, the writer is to write a story of 1000 words, original and never before published on any platform. The second stage, the writer is to write a story of 250 words, also original and never before published on any platform. Why the small number of words? that's because I'm looking for quality and creativity in the writers written words. At the first stage, the writers would be given a topic to write on. However, it's up to them to use their creativity to write on their given topic. The second stage however, the writer is given room to write on whatever they wish to write on. They are to write on their own ideas. Out of all the interested and participating contestants, Only 7 contestants would progress from the first stage and their progress would be determined by a panel of judges of nairalanders. The winners in the second/final stage would be determined by ME. The winners would be given cash rewards as advertised above. The remaining four(4) writers who progressed from the first stage would be given airtime gifts in appreciation of their sportsmanship. The list of every one that's shown interest in the competition would be compiled on Thursday 29th of June with further instructions afterwards.. Divepen1. The Story is about a couple (newly weds) and the lack of communication between them which almost destroyed their marriage. It talks about the problems most newly weds face early in their marriage. |
Final episode. Like they say, it takes two to tangle, but one to untangle, whoever said that. Richard was working now in a law firm, but that didn't stop him from picking the children everyday from school. Oh yes, I have two kids now with Richard. Two stubborn boys with big heads like their dad's. I know what you're thinking, how does a messed up couple like us have such a happy ending like this? Oh well, I can't believe it either,it's almost as if am the star of a fairy tale. I slept with my husband's best friend while my husband lost his job. A relationship couldn't go more worse. "Baby, am sorry, am so sorry, this is all my fault" Richard cried. "Am sorry too honey, I didn't know what came over me. I thought you were seeing someone else, I wasn't thinking straight" I pleaded. "No, it's all my fault. If I had told you about my sack earlier things wouldn't have ended up how they did.. I would never intentionally do anything to come between us. I thought I could handle things myself, am so sorry, please forgive me." Richard begged. How things became like this wasn't because we weren't talking to each other, or because we weren't seeing each other, No, it was because we weren't listening to each other. We no more wanted to become a part of each other daily life, we didn't make the time to hear how the other fared at work or how the day went. We talked, yes, but We listened to each other no more. I realized that doing things you think would hurt your partner would only come back to hurt you even more. Richard forgave me, something I thought men were incapable of doing. Things went back to how they were before he lost his job. We were happy once more. You never truly appreciate what you have until you loose it. **The End** **True Life Story** Chikerelance@gmail.com |
