Car Talk / Re: Price Of New Tyre by kitsune587: 1:07pm On May 25, 2020
I don’t take chance with the tyre pressure as I tend to lose grip if they are not correct. Also, with incorrect tyre pressure we tend to lose more fuel when we drive our car. I fill the pressure generally upto 35 psi but it depends on what car you are driving. Generally, I go to the garage and check it as it’s not a doesn’t cost too much. Car Talk / Re: The Best Tyre For Nigerian Roads by kitsune587: 3:42pm On May 14, 2020
With this current economy, better to go with your budget. I have invested in cheap tyres before but ended up paying more bucks in repairing and then buying new ones. Also, they are not durable on off road conditions like gravel or rocky roads. I did invest on Michelin tyres because atleast they are durable. I wish I knew what I know now. I would have swapped them out 4 years ago. But again, please go by your budget, driving condition, type of the road, radius of your wheel, loading capacity, please consider all this factor before making a decision. I am not a tyre nerd. But this might help: https://africa.michelin.com/en/auto/tips-and-advice/advice-auto/help-me-choose-the-right-tyre

Car Talk / Re: Everything You Need To Know About Your Tyres (In Pictures) by kitsune587: 5:35pm On Apr 29, 2020
In general, it is said that maximum 6 years is there for tires . Some of the premium brands like Michelin does states that they don't have a expiry date but gives a precautionary measure to definitely change it after 10 years. Depending on what kind of road you drive, your driving conditions, your tyres might not run that long. Better not wait for that long, and keep it checking tyres thoroughly after every 6 years as the price of the tyres is still cheaper than your life. This is also the reason why tyres should be taken care properly. You can learn and read from the Michelin website.

With so many fake tyres in the market( where they easily fool you with cheaper price), it's better to go and buy from a genuine Tyre dealer like Michelin or directly from their website. Even though they make a little bit noise over high speed it is still better than my early purchases which has a burned a hole in my pocket with punctures and maintenance.
