While the Bible is full of instances of God telling us not to fear (he says it in various ways more than 350 times), most of us struggle at one time or other with fear or anxiety. What is it about worry that means it affects us even after we profess that we trust in God and are seeking to serve him and look to him for all our needs?

It is reassuring that God knew that the human heart has a tendency to fall prey to worry. That's why, I think, he reminds us so often not to fear!

In a country like ours, We can worry about so many things, especially how we are going to pay our house rent/mortgage, fuel scarcity, road traffic, our work, dealing with teenage children's hormones our aged parents, getting enough sleep... So why is such a 'natural', everyday thing as worry so deadly for us?

Scientistifically, there is research that shows worry can weaken our immune systems, cause depression, heart disease, muscle tension, memory loss, respiratory disorders and digestive conditions.

But worry does more than that, it also affects us spiritually. When we allow fear to overtake us it also pushes out faith and, as a result, we start to feel cut off from God's presence.

"Worry is allowing problems and distress to come between us and the heart of God. It is the view that God has somehow lost control of the situation and we cannot trust him. A legitimate concern presses us closer to the heart of God and causes us to lean and trust on him all the more."

1. Be honest with yourself – and God

Look at what it is that you are worrying about and decide: is this a legitimate concern or an irrational worry? Then take it to God and ask for his help. If you feel you are really struggling with a particular worry then it can be helpful to share it with a close friend who can pray with you and keep you accountable on the subject too.

2. Spend time each day focusing on God

Remind yourself of who he is and what he is capable of. With a different perspective, our problems and worries can seem to literally shrink before our eyes.

3. Remind yourself of God's promises

Look at the particular thing that is causing worry and ask yourself: what can I do and what should I simply leave up to God?

If you are struggling with a particular area then it could be beneficial to do a study on God's promises specifically about that. So, for example, if you worry about finances look at what the Bible says about God providing for us.

4. Learn to 'pray continually'

If we get into the habit of talking to God throughout our day – bringing him the big and little things – then it is much harder for worries to overtake us and blow us off course away from him. "Any concern too small to be turned into a prayer is too small to be made into a burden." If you know your thoughts are mainly made up of worries, try turning those thoughts into prayers.

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

5. Learn to be thankful

This is where a journal can be so helpful. If we record all the ways that God is faithful and how he has worked in our lives, we have a constant supply of practical reminders of how he does look after us and how he "will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:9)

There are a few of us in our book group who have spent time either writing in a thankfulness journal every day or tweeting three good things about our day each evening. Each one of us commented on how it has made us more aware of those little details that made our day special, but which are so easy to overlook without such a discipline (as our minds have a tendency to focus on the difficulties). If you know you find it hard to be thankful or recollect positives, why don't you try writing down three things you are thankful to God for each evening?

6. Actively 'take captive every thought' (2 Corinthians 10:5)

We can so easily let thoughts come and go in our minds, feeling that we have no control over them, but the Bible is very clear that we have a part to play in ensuring that what we think about is beneficial and edifying to us:

"Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things." (Philippians 4:cool

Have you ever stopped and reflected on what your mind has lingered on in the previous 10 minutes? It can be really revealing – and challenging!

7. Change what you meditate on

We can think that reading and meditating on the Bible is far too difficult a practise to do daily, but we are often very well versed in meditating on our problems and worries! We simply need to re-educate our minds to focus on those things that will help us rather than hinder us.

Why not try replacing a specific worry with a scripture that speaks directly to it? Each time the worry pops into your head, speak the scripture to it.

Worry is one of those things that we know the Bible tells us not to do, but we can so often struggle to be free of. Putting some of the above simple ideas into action can help us form new habits. Because worry is a habit in itself – and a toxic one at that. Learning to recognise when a worry rears its ugly head, and being equipped with some simple ways of replacing or dealing with it, can be so helpful.

A newborn baby boy lodged in a sewage pipe directly beneath a toilet has been rescued by firefighters in eastern China.

Police are treating the case as attempted homicide and are looking for his parents. It has sparked anger on social media sites.
China's state broadcaster CCTV said the abandoned infant was found in the sewage pipe in a residential building in Jinhua in the wealthy coastal province of Zhejiang.

The two-day-old boy was discovered after residents of the building reported the sound of a baby crying, state television said.

Firefighters had to remove the pipe, reported to be 10cm (three inches) in diameter, and take it to a nearby hospital, where doctors carefully cut around it to rescue the baby inside, the report said.

They spent nearly an hour taking the tube apart piece by piece with pliers and saws and finally recovered the 5lb (2.3kg) boy, whose placenta was still attached.


State-run news site Zhejiang News said the child - named Baby No 59 from the number of his incubator - is safe and in a stable condition.

Video footage of the rescue was broadcast nationally overnight.

The news triggered hundreds of thousands of comments on China's hugely popular Weibo service, which is similar to Twitter, with users expressing good wishes for the baby and fury at those who presumably abandoned him.

"I can never accept or forgive the behaviour of dumping the baby with his placenta and umbilical cord attached into the toilet pipe," wrote a user with the online handle Jiding Jiajia.

"Can these people be called human beings? The animal to human ratio among the grown-ups is rising inexorably."

Another user, If-Free, said watching the rescue left her distraught.

"Seeing the little one wriggling and groaning as the pipe was torn apart bit by bit wrings my heart ... You've lived through the hardest moment in your life and your future will definitely be smooth," she said.

There are frequent reports in Chinese media of babies being abandoned, often shortly after birth.

The problem is attributed to factors such as young mothers unaware they were pregnant, the birth of an unwanted girl in a society which puts greater value on boys or China's strict family planning rules.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Pop singer Jermaine Jackson officially has changed his name to Jermaine Jacksun for "artistic reasons," Los Angeles court officials said on Friday.

The Jackson 5 member and older brother of pop stars Michael and Janet Jackson filed a petition to change his name in Los Angeles Superior Court in November 2012. The change became official on Wednesday after a hearing, a court spokeswoman said.

The 58-year-old singer, who is on tour in Europe with his three surviving brothers, Jackie, Marlon and Tito, did not attend.

"If Prince and P Diddy can do it, why can't and shouldn't Jermaine?" Jacksun's attorney, Bret D. Lewis, said when the petition originally was filed.

Jermaine Jackson unofficially adopted the name Mohammad Abdul Aziz after converting to Islam in 1989.

A teenager who was a contender for the British Olympics team in 2012 is starting a four-year sentence after admitting three cash van robberies.
Olu Oyewobi, 18, was described by his running club as "one of the top athletes for his age in the country". He excelled at 400m hurdles, but also ran 100m and 200m sprints.

But 15 months ago he was involved in a string of robberies and suddenly stopped training.

He and others attacked a security guard and stole a cash box containing £10,000 at Selco Building Suppliers in East London.

He also planned to rob a Post Office cash van, but guards got suspicious about Oyewobi's behaviour and called police.

Until then he had been a rising star at the famous Enfield and Haringey Athletic Club.

The club secretary Ray Gibbins had no idea why Oyewobi had suddenly stopped training and running.

"I'm absolutely shocked and surprised. Olu is such a nice lad," he said.

"He was ranked in the top half-dozen at the 400m hurdles and he was a good sprinter.

"He would have been an outside bet for the 2012 games without a doubt."

Mr Gibbins added: "A lot of kids in this part of north London get into the wrong company and you can't do anything about it.

"We try to give them an alternative with athletics, but it's their decision."

Oyewobi's lawyer Simon Smith said he had been a model student and sportsman, one of the top three in the country in his event and an Olympic hopeful for the 2012 Games.

He said: "In a month of madness a promising future was blemished or even destroyed in search of easy money."

The teenager was sentenced to four years in a young offenders' institution. In total gang members were sentenced to 21 years behind bars.

Recent statistics show that half the cash van robbers in London are teenagers.

Flying Squad officers are so worried about the trend they have been visiting schools and colleges in east London warning teenagers of the risks they face in becoming involved in such crimes.

Thank you for the above and the message usb not recongnized refers to a non-working device.
The USB was detected but windows cannot recongnise it in the hardware compatibility list. HCL.txt

Swap test USB with another working computer and see the result. Good luck

Thanks for your response, it worked with another computer, I checked the Device Manager and noticed a yellow exclamation mark under ' other device ' in SM Bus Controller.

I  took the battery out for some minutes still not working, it doesn't recognize my mouse.  ( USB Device Not Recognized )

what device are pugging in using the USB port ? DEVICE can be anything from printer to camera

what did you do after the screen turn on after using F1 ?did you try to turn it on again the normal way and what happened
I turned it on the normal way and it worked!
I plug a USB-stick and a camera, before this problem I use same devices on same laptop.

I kept receiving the message below each time I tried to plug-in device in to my USB Hub:

'USB Device Not Recognized.
One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunction and windows does not recognize it, for assistance in solving this problem, click this message '

I have tried resolving this problem online yet no solution.

Another problem is I tried switching my laptop on this evening and the screen refuses to turn on after much try I decided to use 'F1' button on boot then the screen was on. This is the first time I am encountering such problem with my laptop.
