You loved your people as a businessman, don’t change as a politician, Bishop Onah admonishes Senator Ezea

The bishop of Nsukka Catholic diocese, His Lordship Rt. Rev. Prof. Godfrey Igwebuike Onah, has advised Senator Okechukwu Ezea (LP, Enugu North), to rekindle the love he showed Nsukka people while he was in business many years ago and offer even more to them in his current position as a politician.

Bishop Onah, who gave the admonition during his homily at a thanksgiving Mass celebrated in honour of Senator Ezea at the St Theresa’s Catholic Cathedral, Nsukka, on Saturday, went down memory lane to recall how Senator Ezea named his shipping and logistics company, Ideke Shipping Limited, said only a man who loves his people would give his business a name that is associated with the place where he comes from. "Whatever your reason, I interprete it as your love for Nsukka. Nobody doubts your interest in the welfare of nwa Nsukka. 'Ideke' is intimately associated with this town," he said.

Continuing, Bishop Onah, who is the second bishop of Nsukka Catholic Diocese, advised the senator to seek the voice of God if he wants to succeed as a leader of the people. "You were a successful entrepreneur before you decided to spend your money [in politics]. I know it. Like Abraham Lincoln, you won after several disappointments... You're now sent to proclaim the good news. Whatever temptations you may face, ask: 'Is it better to listen to God or men?' Almost everybody around you would want you to be corrupt so they could benefit.

"As St. Paul says in the scripture, you as a Christian can't conform your life to the things of this world. Looking at you, I know a new culture will be created at the Senate," Bishop Onah said.

The bishop, however, used the opportunity to decry the lack of Christian values in the workplace, saying only genuine concern for the people’s needs would create the transformative leadership that will impact the people. He called on politicians to focus attention on education and the internalisation of the values of humanity, lamenting that the .absence of humanity in politics has been the reason behind corruption in most parts of Nigeria.

"Until we get education right, corruption, indiscipline etc. will not abate. One lesson we learned from the 2023 politics is that there's a limit to which the power holders can hold the people down," he stated.

In his speech during the Mass celebrated by more than 40 Catholic priests, Senator Okey Ezea thanked the bishop for upholding the integrity of the church by speaking truth to power. He restated his commitment to the emancipation of the Nsukka people, promising to work with the church and other relevant communities and professional groups to ensure the enthronement of equity, peace and probity at all levels of leadership in the Nsukka cultural zone.

Later at the reception venue (Nsukka High School), Senator Ezea stated: “Many people worked hard for my victory and are possibly expecting rewards, but what reward is greater than the ways we’re creating to make life easier and happier for everyone in our zone?” He said that his job as a legislator was not the same as that of a president or governor who has executive powers.

Listing his achievements in the nine months since he has been in the National Assembly, Senator Ezea said he has worked with other legislators elected from the zone to mitigate the incidents of marginalisation of the Enugu North senatorial district in the distribution of federal appointments and projects. “As you know, my interactions with my colleagues in the National Assembly, with many ministries, departments, and agencies of the federal government have started to produce good fruit. This is evident in the ongoing reconstruction of the dilapidated Makurdi–Obollo–Opi– Ninth Mile expressway which has lately been in the news. Those who have visited Ninth Mile and Makurdi recently know that something has already started happening on the road and I am reliably informed by the federal authorities that, in a few weeks, work on that highway will gather steam at several points. I have not stopped pestering the Federal Ministry of Works and China Harbour Engineering Ltd, the contractors handling the project, to whom the minister, HE Engr. Dave Umahi, has since introduced to me,” he stated.

Continuing on his accomplishments, the senator said: “The ongoing three rural road projects at Uzo-Uwani which I inherited from Sen. Chukwuka Utazi is moving on smoothly. Granted, the roads were attracted during the 9th Senate to which Sen. Utazi was a member; however, because of the nature of our budgeting system that ensures that budget implementation takes place in the succeeding year, the actual award of the projects took place last November, five clear months after my inauguration in June last year. It took collaborative efforts between me and Senator Utazi to ensure that the projects were not diverted after the dissolution of the 9th Assembly.”

He assured that his tenure would give a sense of ownership to every person in the Enugu North zone, stressing that the era of leaders abdicating their responsibilities to the people soon after elections was over.

IDEKE: THE FIRST-TIME SENATOR WHO KNOWS HIS ONIONS

In every human group, there is always one that stands in defence and protection of its held values. While members of the group stand in fright and rudderless in thought, he pulls to the front, challenging the aggressor. The libero strikes a heroic pose in the group's poster and is considered a threat not only to the invaders but the low-value men desirous of the position but lack the courage and sacrifice.

Senator Okey Ezea will forever stand out as Nsukka's defender. As a senator in the Student Union Government at UNN in 1984, he was a known fighter for the Nsukka cause. And when he went into business, he founded Ideke Shipping Ltd operating in Lagos, Port Harcourt etc., in a business relationship with local and international conglomerates.

Ideke Shipping was the cynosure of all eyes. More than 80% of the workforce was Nsukka. Each time its tugboats were on water, Bonny Island-bound, all at the jetty would be on their toes to catch a glimpse of the power behind it all. The air would be heavy with the words, "He is from Nsukka."

Nzogwu left this flourishing business empire and returned to Nsukka in a challenge to the power equation that sidelined nd'Nsukka. He came headlong with the then dreaded Chimaroke Nnamani regime, and the peak was the killing of his orderly, a mobile police officer. He was shot on their way to Port Harcourt. Ideke has been catering to the family of the slain officer and more.

It was not money that propelled him but rather the love for Nsukka. It's common knowledge: what he sunk into this venture stirred every ear that heard it. From one battle front to another, navigating the state's turbulent political waters with eyes on a space for Igbo Nsukka, he has soldiered on to this day.

At the polls, last year, he defeated the incumbent governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, by a wide margin. Almost 80% of the total votes that went to him was in recognition and appreciation of his pedigree and not how much that came from his pocket.

A first-time senator, Ideke has shown that he knows his onions. These achievements would have been reversed if we had voted for one who had slept for 12years in the House of Reps! Ideke has yet to receive his constituency project fund for the first time and could do what he has done from his pocket. Unlike some of his colleagues, some on third and fourth consecutive term in the red chambers. They have more money to spare but Senator Ezea is greater in legislative influence. His intelligence, bravery, negotiating power and lucid presentations bear the hallmark of effective representation.

Our strength is not only defined by our innate potential but more by significant individuals around us. Ideke is pro-Plato who said, "The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men". The detractors who compare him with other senators with deeper pockets are not sincere, of course. The worst battle is between what one knows and what one feels.

In all humility, this is a day that does not only remind me of the trust that was entrusted upon me by my people but also the irreparable debt that I owe my people for handing to me the torch of political, social, and economic liberation of our people.

When we went out on that historic morning of February 25, 2023, I recall that our minds were set on an egalitarian revolution that would have ushered in a comprehensive political overhaul of our great country. But we must be thankful of our little victories and remain focused on the task ahead, which is still achievable if we retain the present unity of purpose.

With a deep sense of humility, I appreciate the mandate that was freely and willingly given to me a year ago and remain unwavering in the commitment to work with you for a stronger, more united, and more emancipated Nsukka Zone.

The battle ahead is quite enormous, but with God on our side, I reaffirm my determination to work toward a greater, more united, and politically emancipated Enugu North. Senator Okechukwu Ezea (LP-Enugu) says he has yet to receive bags of rice from the Federal Government for distribution as palliative to his constituents.

Ezea, who represents Enugu North at the National Assembly, said this in a statement in Abuja on Monday.

“I’m yet to receive any material palliative, whether money or food item, from the federal government for my constituents.

“However, in the event of receiving the palliative, I will, in line with my principles of equity and fairness, share such palliatives transparently.

“Given the enormity of hardship faced by my constituents, I, at my own personal cost, have gone ahead to distribute bags of rice in the new year across the 102 wards of my district.

“The distribution has been concluded at the local government level while sharing of the items to the beneficiaries is currently ongoing across the ward,’’ he said.

Some media organisations had quoted unnamed sources, claiming that President Bola Tinubu had allocated tonnes of rice to lawmakers for distribution to their constituents as palliative over fuel subsidy removal.

BEING TEXT OF A PRESS STATEMENT ISSUED BY THE TPV IN RESPONSE TO SOME TISSUES OF LIES ISSUED BY ONE NSUKKA DISTINGUISHED ELITES FORUM AGAINST THE PERSON OF SENATOR OKEY EZEA.

The attention of The Parliamentary Vanguard (TPV), a foremost parliamentary performance watchdog in the country, has been drawn to an insensible statement issued by one attention-seeking faceless group that goes by the name Nsukka Distinguished Elites Forum wherein some uncomplimentary remarks were made against the person of the Distinguished Senator Okey Ezea.

In our traditional non-partisan style, we would have elected to ignore this group of crumb pickers, especially given the reality of the fact that campaigns are over and elections have been won and lost. However, in view of some false claims and imputations made in the said statement, there is a bounden duty on us as a watchdog on parliamentary issues to put the records straight in order that the unsuspecting good people of the Enugu North Senatorial District are not hoodwinked by the antics of these blackmailers.

For the records, the result of our recent survey and assessment of the performances, so far, of the parliamentarians from the Zone has shown that in just four (4) months at the Senate, Distinguished Senator Okey Ezea, in union with other parliamentarians from the Zone, has ensured that the decrepit situation of Otukpo-Obollo-Afor-9th Mile Road is brought to the attention of President Bola Tinubu who has just recently awarded the rehabilitation of the road.

Having closely followed Senator Ezea's politics since his inauguration on 13th June, 2023, we understand that the Distinguished Senator believes, and rightly so, that the demonstrable way to respond to the needs of Nsukka people - and not "vanish from their presence after assuming office" as the Forum's statement tended to suggest - is to identify the challenges confronting the people of the Zone and finding immediate solutions to them. It was in fulfilment of this conviction that the Distinguished Senator Ezea devoted efforts in pressuring the federal authorities, especially the Honourable Minister for Works, HE Engr. David Nweze Umahi, for the rehabilitation of Otukpo-Obollo-Afor-9th Mile Road.

Also, in just four (4) months at the Red Chambers, Senator Okey Ezea has sponsored two critical motions at the floor of the Senate that centre on nagging issues confronting the people of Enugu North Senatorial District who sent him to the Senate. We are also in the know that the Senator is also currently concerting efforts with other stakeholders at the national level to secure employment opportunities for the people of the Zone, including securing employment opportunities for the characters operating under the banner of Nsukka Distinguished Elites Forum.

Distinguished Senator Okey Ezea understands that it is the idleness and lack of gainful employment inflicted on these characters by their pay master who unfortunately wasted eight ( irrecoverable years opportunity of productively engaging them that pushed the members of this ignoble group into the shameless business of serving as hirelings to discredited politicians. To this end, the Distinguished Senator has made it a point of duty to ensure that they are productively engaged going forward, by assiduously working round the clock to ensure that a more sustainable means of livelihood is extended to them.

The characters who, in the statement, reeled out what in their jaundiced view was the résumé or performance scorecard of their pay master must have inexorably labeled the whole of Nsukka people as ungrateful people for stopping their idol from transiting to the Senate despite his performances as a governor. The group literally called the overwhelming majority of Nsukka people who congregated to stop his senatorial ambition fools for not seeing the achievements of their pay master that only them could see. We at the TPV cringe at the audacity of these chaps! We wait to see how they hope to clean up the image of the man that enlisted their services.

Finally, and very importantly, having interviewed Senator Okey Ezea on a range of issues, it is pertinent to underscore the fact that his nature of politics is not one anchored on sharing money to blackmailers like the one above. Activities such as the one by the above nebulous group is a hangover from the PDP's long years in the saddle which the good people of Nsukka unanimously rejected in February this year.

It, therefore, goes without saying that The Parliamentary Vanguard is satisfied with the performances of Distinguished Senator Okey Ezea at the Senate. The Senator, on assumption of office, has designed a poverty alleviation model for the people of the Zone which he is following to the letter and we at the TPV have been closely watching and monitoring his performances in that regard and are impressed with the results so far.

Senator Okey Ezea, in less than four months at the Senate, has lived up to the expectations of his constituents by ensuring that the yearnings of the people of Enugu North Senatorial District are brought to the attention of the Federal Government.

Recall that on August 7, 2023, while asking for relief materials for the victims of Opi infernor, Distinguished Senator Okey Ezea drew the attention of the Federal Government to the bad state of the 9th Mile-Obollo–Makurdi expressway which is currently in a dilapidated state. He noted further that the accident which triggered the inferno was avoidable and could have been avoided had the 9th-Mile-Obollo Afor-Makurdi expressway, which hitherto provided veritable bypass to motorists commuting the Eastern Corridor, been motorable.

The Distinguished Senator matched this call with actions through numerous engagements with federal authorities, especially the Minister of Works, His Excellency Engr. Dave Umahi, who firmly gave his commitment to the rehabilitation of the road.

Again, just last week, Distinguished Senator Okey Ezea rallied his colleague Senators from the South East and South South regions for urgent action on the road and the result is the approval given by President Tinubu for the rehabilitation of the road.

The Minister of Works, Engr David Umahi, while speaking with journalists after an audience with the President at the Presidential Villa yesterday, disclosed that the president has approved, amongst other projects, the:

• Immediate Construction of the Lafia Bypass Dualisation from Makurdi, through Oturkpo, through Oboloafor, down to 9th Mile

Senator Ezea in his few months in the National Assembly has shown commitment practically in giving the good people of Enugu North unparalleled representation. SENATOR OKEY EZEA ASKS FG FOR RELIEF MATERIALS TO VICTIMS OF NSUKKA FUEL INFERNO

The Senator representing Enugu North Senatorial District, Senator Okey Ezea has asked the federal government to quickly intervene with relief materials to the victims of Afor-Opi market Inferno.

Afor-Opi market in Nsukka local government area of Enugu state, located along the old 9th mile- Makurdi road, was recently gutted by fire allegedly caused by a truck carrying inflammable products.

The Inferno which destroyed hundreds of shops and goods worth millions of Naira in the market was caused by a truck while dodging some bad portions on the road and fell in front of the market; spilled its inflammable contents which thereafter ignited fire that wreaked the havoc.

Senator Ezea said that the accident was avoidable and would have been avoided had the 9th-Mile-Obollo Afor-Makurdi expressway, which hitherto provided veritable bypass to motorists commuting the Eastern Corridor, been motorable.

Senator Ezea had recently called for the urgent repair of the 9th Mile-Obollo–Makurdi expressway which is currently in a dilapidated state.

According to Ezea, “The fallen truck would not have had any need to ply the Old Opi-9th Mile Road, had the 9th Mile-Obollo Afor–Makurdi Expressway been in a state of repair. It’s regretable that the road has for many years been abandoned by successive governments despite repeated appeals to the federal government for urgent intervention on the road.”

While noting the untold hardships his constituents and other users of the road suffer on account of its impassable state, Senator Ezea appealed to the Federal Government for immediate repair and reconstruction of the 9th Mile-Obollo-Afor-Makurdi expressway road to ease the sufferings of both commuters and motorists who ply the road.

The Senator further appealed to both the Federal and State emergency management agencies to quickly respond to the plight of the victims of the inferno through urgent deployment of relief materials as well as assistance in the rebuilding and reconstruction of the affected shops.

“I enjoin the government, at both national and state levels, to show empathy by ensuring that adequate compensations are paid to the fire victims to assuage their losses in this critical period of national economic instability.

“We thank God for zero casualty recorded in the conflagration, but I sympathize with those who sustained various degrees of injury while trying to put out the raging fire,” Ezea said.

Soldiers Storm New Carolina Hotel in Nsukka, Arrest Armed Thugs

Galant men of the Nigerian Army late Friday night stormed New Carolina Hotel owned by the late D.C. Ugwu's family and arrested about a dozen heavily armed mercenaries who were obviously hired by the PDP to intimidate voters in Nsukka during the March 18 governorship and House of Assembly elections. The thugs, who were found with sophisticated weapons, were still held as of midnight inside the hotel now being run by Barrister Anthony Ugwu, a former chairman of Nsukka LG and now PDP chieftain.

Reports say the soldiers, who acted on a tipoff, searched the suspects and found AK-47 and pump action rifles on them. They were then tortured.

At least 10 of the thugs, who were brought in from Kogi State, escaped from the hotel on Obollo Road, Obukpa, near the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

The Ebeano PDP in Enugu State reportedly is bent on employing violence to achieve victory in Saturday's polls. But a joint force of the army, police and other security operatives has issued warnings against acts of violence during the polls and threatened to deal with offenders.

Last week, the security operatives had swooped on armed hoodlums at Igbo-Eze North LGA and arrested them. A few days ago, armed thugs were also arrested at Ikem in Isi-Uzo LGA. In both cases, the chairmen of the local governments were implicated.

With the latest arrests of armed thugs in Nsukka, the security agents have indicated their readiness to ensure peaceful elections today. For good measure, they have banned movement of vehicles from noon to 6pm except for electoral officials and other people engaged in essential services.

In a message personally signed by the Lawmaker on Tuesday in Aguata, He described ACP. Ifeanyi Umeoji as a loving and wonderful brother who is dedicated in contributing valuably in seeing his home State and Nation Succeed.

Umeoji extolled his commitments to crime prevention, intervention activities and concern for public safety at a very critical period in the history of our dear country, Nigeria. A period in which multiple security challenges have become a source of concern. He prayed for the mercy and grace of God on the Super Cop as he discharges his duty to the Nation and God.

On this Special day, I join millions of Ndigbo and Nigerians all over Nigeria and the world at large to celebrate the Birth Anniversary of my principal and mentor, the Political calculus of our time, Rt. Hon Chief Chukwuma Michael Umeoji KSJI, AMNIM, FCPA, (OBA of Anambra), Congressman Representing the good people of Aguata Federal Constituency in the National Assembly and Leader APGA Caucus in the 9th Assembly.

The money for the normination form was paid into the party's account and Victor Oye was the then National Chairman of APGA.

3 courts of competent jurisdiction recently ruled that Oye as the National Chairman of the Party in error having flagrantly conducted his purported National Convention with his friends against 2 Court Orders of which one was gotten from the Ibadan Court by himself.

It will interest you to know that Victor Oye stopped being the National Chairman of APGA on the 31st Matmy, 2019 but has been able to buy his way through forum shopping in different courts of Nigeriaallbthe way from Ibandan High Court, to Bauchi High Court, to Abia State High Court, to Delta State High Court and Recently Owerri were his stay of Execution was struck out and Jude Okeke declared the dexlared the National Chairman. With funds coming directly from the cofers of Anambra State, Oye was able to bully INEC into doing his biddings because he's financed by Anambra State Government.

If actually you wished to reason properly with your brains, you would have conducted an independent research to properly inundate yourself on this matter rather than this display of ignorance, APGA is a National Party and not some sort of Sociocultural Club which feeble individuals like you believed it to be.

ANAMBRA 2021: UMEOJI, THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE APPROACH FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE

Now that the State is awash with claims and counterclaims for its soul by many eminent and not so eminent citizens, the keenly interested Ndi Anambra have understood that what the State needs is a collective rescue mission, one that moves beyond individual agendas.

Not to mince words, a crude privatisation of power is taking place in Anambra State, with a crippling effect on the citizens and all institutions of state.

While the personality of the current governor may be a factor in the cul-de-sac we have found ourselves, the crisis clearly suggests the need for a concrete alternative approach, if not an alternative platform, for determining present and future governance.

Chukwuma Umeoji is the only alternative approach and platform for Ndi Anambra who’re APGA by default to experience quality governance and good democratic dividends again.

OBA Aguata has practically demonstrated his capacity and has shown he has all it takes to govern and steer a First Class State like Anambra, the Light of the Nation unlike Charles Soludo, a wimp and a willing tool in the hands of the Cabal who doesn’t have either a word or will of his own but is only pushed to hasten the crude privatization of power by the Cabals.

What Victor Ike Oye, the former National Chairman of APGA was running since May 31, 2019 was a Kangaroo Leadership that is not recognised by the Law but being that the Party was strongly financed by the State, he was able to spend the chunk of money at his disposal on bulling, intimidating and blackmailing the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to do his biddings.

In the eyes of the law Oye is not the National Chairmen of APGA because the convention that produced him was against a court order. He has been sustaining himself illegally with the resources from the party's coffers all these while.

His Kangaroo leadership was able to last this long because everyone was afraid to challenge the order while those who tried were also bullied to silence until the disqualification of Hon.Chukwuma Umeoji, Akachukwu Sullivan Nwankpo and Hon. Nonso Smart Okafor which was the last straw that broke the camels back and forced the members of the NEC and NWC of the party, the Leaders of the Party from National to Ward Level, Stateholders of the party, and the party's rank and files to unitedly challenge the arrow heads of the Cabal onslaught against the party.

Litigations are not won through subjective sentiments, this was the reason Jude Okeke led Faction of APGA was able to prove their case beyond every reasonable doubt at the Jigawa High Court, hence the ruling that he is the authentic National Chairman of APGA and that INEC should recognize any Primaries conducted by his Lesdership.

Had Victor Oye participated in the original National Convention on the 31st of May, 2019 held Owerri in accordance with the court order, contested the Chairmanship Position and won, he would have emerged the APGA National Chairman.

Victor Oye who communicated INEC on the April 17th 2019 with a Court Order that compelled APGA to conduct Ward Congress on the 2nd, 3rd and 6th for, LGA Sate Congresses, respectively Nationwide and then hold the National Convention at Owerri on the 31st of May 2019 saw that it was impossible to win in the National Convention on receiving the results of the Ward, LGA, State and Nationwide Congress in Abuja at about the 10th of May, 2019 moblized his cohorts and convened a purported NEC meeting at Government House, Awka on the 14th of May 2019, a few hours to the expiration of the tenure of most of the members of the NEC on the 15th May 2019 and excluded many members of the NEC including the BOT members of the party.

Oye and his group arrived at a decision in the purported NEC meeting to dissolve the BOT, cancel the congresses that were held on the 2nd, 3rd and 6th of May 2019 for Ward, LGA and States respectively and conduct a fake convention on the 19th, 20th and 21st of May 2010 after the expiration of the Administrations of the Ward, LGA and State Leaders of the party on the 15th of May 2019.

While the original convention was held at Owerri on the 31st of May 2019 Oye also held his fake convention with his cronies at Awka on the same date and produced himself as the Chairman of APGA against a court order that stated out clearly the dates and location of the 2019 National Convention.

The BOT members of the party became infuriated and went to Kwale High Court to obtain a Court Order stopping Oye from acting on any decision emanating from that purported NEC meeting and the fake convention held at Awka.

Oye resorted to using court orders to frustrate the leadership that was produced by the Original National Convention at Owerri and as well bully, intimidate and blackmail the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC into doing his biddings using the Party resources at his disposal.

This was why the platform that announced Soludo the candidate for November 6 election lacks the locus and legal merit to stand, the implication is that Soludo was never an APGA aspirant because the Kangaroo Leadership of Victor Oye which Produced him as their candidate in the purported Primaries held on the 23rd of June, 2021 at Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka is not recognised in the eyes of the Law as the Leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.

The leadership of APGA party had recently made official and public the timetable for her Gubernatorial primary election which is billed to hold on the 23rd day of June, 2021. On this note, numerous Aspirants on the platform of the APGA party have intensified efforts to ensure they emerge the candidate of the party; it now behoves on the delegates to save APGA party and Anambra State by electing a flagbearer who is a party man, a Grassroot person, one without blemish, a candidate with character and integrity; he must have in good records his verifiable antecedents and community development services and also be acceptable to the Anambra Electorates and members of the APGA party; only such a person can win the Guber for APGA to continue where Governor Willie Obiano would stop in 2022.

Of a truth, APGA parades the most qualified aspirants who have shown willingness to consolidate on the many achievements of Governor Willie Obiano; but like in every competition, there's always the best among the rest; In APGA today, the candidacy of Rt. Why Hon Chukwuma Umeoji Is The Right Man To Succeed Governor Obiano

As the race for who flies the All Progressive Grand Alliance party ticket in the upcoming gubernatorial elections in Anambra takes a centre stage – with loads of political bigwigs, stakeholders and contestants making loud statements, it is pertinent that the progressive type of leadership as witnessed under His Excellency, Governor Willie Obiano ought to be continued and sustained.

Hon Umeoji proceeded to the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu state, where he graduated with BA (Hons) Degree in Philosophy. He obtained a Masters Degree in philosophy from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

While at Nsukka as undergraduate student, he was the deputy speaker of students Union parliament, a senator of NANS and Coordinator of the Civil Liberties Organization. He was also a member of the youth solidarity for South Africa and Namibia.

He is a member of the prestigious Nze Na Ozo Society. He is known as UMEUGOCHUKWU. The Aguata Traditional Rulers Council Conferred on him the title of OBA AGUATA. He also holds the title of ODENIGBO of Akpo town in Aguata Local Government Area and DIKE ANAGBARA IZU of Urum in Awka North local government area.

The Uga community conferred on him the title of EBUBE DIKE. Hon Umeoji is a member of the Nigerian Institute of management and a fellow of Nigeria Institute of Administrators.

In 2007, he was elected into the House of Representatives under the Umbrella of Labour Party.

The Ezinifite in Aguata-born Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji (Oba Aguata) is a staunch believer of the progress that His Excellency, Gov. Willie Obiano has carried out since his inception as the people’s Governor of Anambra, the light of the nation. ANAMBRA GUBER: Umeoji and others know fate June 23, as APGA Holds Primaries.

Nomination forms pegged at N22 million.

The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has fixed June 23 for the party’s governorship primaries in Anambra State, ahead of the governorship election holding later in the year.

In the guideline released by the party, it said Expression of Interest forms will cost N2 million, with Nomination forms priced at N20 million.

However, female aspirants and aspirants living with disabilities will be granted 50% discount of the amount.

The tentative timetable of activities for the November 6 governorship poll signed by APGA’s National Organising Secretary, Mr Ifeanyi Mbaeri, said the National Working Committee (NWC) will meet on June 27 to ratify the party’s governorship candidate for the Anambra governorship election.

According to the guideline obtained by newsmen, the APGA said sale and return of nomination forms will be done from May 25 to June 8.

It said that screening of prospective governorship aspirants will be conducted at APGA National Secretariat Abuja on June 10, while resolution of appeals arising from the screening is to be held at the APGA National Secretariat Abuja on June 12.

In addition, the party said that a special ward congresses for election of ad hoc delegates
in the 326 wards in Anambra State on June 15, while special state congress/primary election in Awka, Anambra state on June 23.

The guideline said that resolution of appeals/disputes arising from the Primary Election will be held at APGA National Secretariat Abuja on June 25.

Female Aspirants and Aspirants living with Disability shall pay only 50% of the amounts stipulated above for both the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.

The guidelines said:

‘Pursuant to its powers under Articles 12 (3) and 24 of the APGA constitution 2019, and in strict compliance with INEC timetable and schedule of activities for Anambra state governorship Election 2021, the National Working Committee (NWC) of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has approved the following provisional timetable/schedule of activities for the nomination of the governorship candidate of the party in the Anambra State governorship election 2021.’

The question on the lips of every Onye Anambra today is "who amongst the aspirants have the prerequisite, political and intellectual capability to consolidate, sustain and ensure continuity in Anambra State after Governor Willie Obiano? It's worthy to note and on clear records that Governor Willie Obiano has shown true leadership since he assumed office in 2013, therefore, whoever that's coming to take the mantle must come forward with visible achievement and antecedents to convince the Electorates that we are not heading back to gloom rather lucidity.

Governor Willie Obiano has raised the Bar of Governance and development in Anambra State and South East at large. He will be remembered as the Governor who worked for the people, served the people and placed himself last, hence the clamour for his successor to be someone who is grounded with the affairs of the State and must borrow a leaf from Governor Obiano who ran an inclusive administration were the interests of all are respected and highly represented.

There are so many legacy projects to his name which will further change the future of the state's economy vis a vi's human capital and infrastructural development. In the last seven (7) years of his administration, Governor Wille Obiano and the APGA administration has placed Anambra on a whole new pedestal across Africa.

For the APGA party, the much that is needed is continuity and consolidation; for it's not yet broken. Anambra must continue on the pathway of developmental trajectory which the APGA Government brought to the State.

Rt. Hon Chukwuma Umeoji - MHR, is No doubt, the most qualified with years of political and leadership experience and much to account for; he understands perfectly the need of the Anambra people in a modern economy and challenges facing the South East Zone.

The attacks, smear campaigns and propagandas against Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji can only point to one glaring truth, his opponents are afraid of him and can't muster the will to challenge his political war chest, hence the resort to campaign of calumny and blackmails.

Those who thinks they have prepared the ground to suit their whims and caprices are threatened by the wide acceptance of the "Umeoji4Governor" creed which has deepen conversation across party lines and every nook and cranny of Anambra State; in a nutshell, every Anambra family says it's Umeoji4Governor.

Since the public declaration of interest to run for the State's top job by the Ezinifite born political warrior, it appears the other smaller camps in APGA have become vulnerable and reduced to wailing dogs; they have shown discomfort and utter jittery over Umeoji's growing popularity, and acceptance by all relevant stakeholders in the State, vis a vis youth bodies, religious institutions, market men and women, elders and leaders of thoughts amongst many others.

The declaration of Oba Aguata sparked a never seen before outrage in the political arena of Anambra State, some elements who earlier claimed they have the wherewithal to outsmart everyone and shortchanged the process are today struggling to grasp relevance in the power play.

They have been drowned in their very own pool and now behaving blind and dementia like, just to garner sympathy and attention through their bitter politics and internal opposition.

They have engaged every mentally challenged handle and quack writers on and off the media space to urinate and throw stones not minding the position and timing; all that being done to demonize the person and image of Oba Aguata.

The approach is not just unproductive, but equally useless in the eyes of a discerning public. It is an old trick, and its promoters are obviously ignorant of the wisdom that the best trick is to avoid obsolete tricks and rather play by the modern tricks.

It's futile because the individual they seek to bring down is up and standing like the Rock of Gibraltar; The success of APGA can not be whole without the worthy mention and contributions of Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji.

Again, it's no news that Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji was a driving force in the events that culminated to the 21/21 political tsunami of 2017 as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroot Mobilization and the victory of APGA in the last General elections across Aguata; a zone which is largely in the clutches of the oppositions, but his political sagacity delivered it to APGA in whole, whereas those who are claiming today's Lord were drowned in their various zones.

Those who are afraid of Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji can go ahead to discuss him, get more engrossed in their smear campaign and banal writes, whilst we focus more deliberating on issues and communicating the manifestos of Oba Aguata to the electorates and party delegates.

Umeoji has through his conducts and pedigree, proved to the people of Anambra State that he is the most qualified for the top job and seat of the 5th Democratically elected Governor of Anambra State unlike others who wants a dubious process that would amplify their criminal aspiration and disunity in the party. If anyone thinks he is more qualified than Oba Aguata, the person should man up and challenge in the open and through a transparent process not smear campaigns.

Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji is a dedicated party man more than anyone in the race, we need to look into his credentials, he has remained active more than any other aspirants, In fact, he is the only member of APGA contesting for the office of Governor on the platform of the party, others are mere passersby who wish to reap where they did not sow; we must caution the fortunate miscreants who are scheming to dominate everybody, exclude everyone and arrogate everything to themselves. We will always resist them with all possible force and means.

The aspiration of Rt. Hon Chukwuma Umeoji is a collective effort and call to serve, by relevant Stakeholders, Traditional Rulers, Religious leaders, politicians across party lines and many, on the other divides; It will be utter foolishness for anyone to challenge his candidacy as it will be an affront to those who begged him to throw his hat into the contest.
