klexycole:
A fam member's mom just got refused. He's sponsoring the mother with £2,500. He also attached his payslip, bank statements, BRP, and lease documents.

For the mom, they included pictures with son, her passport, husband's consent letter, and a valid 5-year Canada Visit Visa. Her bank statement wasn't submitted.

Under her employment section, they picked RETIRED since she's currently not working, although running a small shop in their home with no business account. She has never worked in a corporate organization and currently being supported by the children.

Note: The visit duration stated is 1 month but the ECO mistakenly wrote 1 month 29 days.

Please what's the best way to tackle this? She's a first time applicant. Thank you!

An Update on This

So the reapplication for a 6-month Visit Visa was granted in 3 working days (Priority Service).

The Difference

The initial documents and details were retained, but added the following to the new application:

1. The applicant's (mother) bank statement
2. House co-ownership docs with spouse (economic tie)
3. Religious certificate and pictures (social tie)
4. Family pictures with spouse and the remaining children in Nigeria (family tie)
5. Canada Flight Itinerary (evidence of return for later travel)
6. Changed the employment status from RETIRED to SELF-EMPLOYED with explanation
7. Sponsor's (son) birth certificate (proof of relationship)
8. Sponsor's work pictures
9. Applicant's spouse data page, 5 years valid Canada visa and flight itinerary

Biometrics – 27 August
Approved – 30 August
Passport Delivered – 03 September

Special thanks to Cashmadam and Giselle237 for the responses. Good luck to everyone.

@ cashmadam @giselle237 Thanks so much for your input. I also advised the same thing regarding the employment status. However, here are his concerns:

1. Can they change the employment status (from retired to self-employed) without the issue of misrepresentation?

2. If the applicant claims self-employed, can they submit only her personal account (most inflows are from the children) since she doesn't have a business account for the small shop?

3. Can a cooperative society membership be used as a social tie?

Really appreciate your response.

giselle237:
@klexycole what was the reason why the bank statement was not submitted?

The sponsor felt the €2.5k he committed was enough. By the way, he never submitted bank statements for his mother-in-law and the visa was granted in a week (standard).

this referee is so poor

The officiating is completely an eyesore. Even worse, VAR has refused to review these nonsense decisions by the ref.

I think Bissau will score first.

They've been the more determined and ambitious team.

I don't know why we are parking the bus against GB.

Too many misplaced passes from SE.

Nigeria sitting back and soaking pressure.

Poor giveaway from Ajayi.

GB draw the first blood with a superb shot.

First save for Nwabali.

BEYEIs:
Good evening everyone,

Please I am about to restart my Canadian journey and I have couple of questions.

Let me just delve right into it.

I am a Software developer with more than 3 years of experience

I am aged 31 going to 32 on 1st of April

My qualification is HND

I am currently running my HND conversion which I will be rounding up end of this year.

I have evaluated my HND with WES sometimes in the past(2022) and WES evaluated it to be 3 years diploma and a year Post graduate.

Here is my real question

Does it mean I am having 2 Two certs, meaning "my level of education" will be Two or more certificates, diplomas or degrees. One must be for a program of three or more years?

Thanks all, please I await your reply and advise soon.

That's correct.

If you evaluated both your ND and HND with WES, then yes, you qualify for Two or More Certificates.
