Religion / Re: Give Your 'Tithes' And Offerings To The Less Fortunate In Church by Knowyaself(m): 7:40pm On Mar 03, 2013
Godseagle: Pls read Matthew 23 vs 23 to know that Jesus also preached about Tithe.

My bro, that was before the calvary sacrifice. Why not continue to give burnt sacrifice to God becase jesus said then u must obey the teachers of the law?
As a christain, I'm not against the funding of the church to advance the gospel, but such funding should not be called tithing - tithing does not apply to christains. What applies to christains is giving generously to the church as well as the needy.

Religion / Re: Give Your 'Tithes' And Offerings To The Less Fortunate In Church by Knowyaself(m): 5:18pm On Mar 03, 2013
Reference:

That is a deliberate disobedience of scripture and you know the consequences. Tithes and offerings go to 'His store house that there may be meat (provisions) in His house'. Not to anyone's pocket.

Tithes and offerings are provisions to keep His house functional. The running of the church, the propagation of the gospel.

Jesus did not dip his hands into the treasury to feed the multitude. He rather took another seperate purpose driven specific offering of five loaves and two fishes for that.

The early church in Acts encouraged people to contribute for distribution. No where on record do you see tithes being distributed.

In Matthew 26:6-13 you can see that Jesus made a clear distinction between giving to Him (who is the head of the church) and giving to the poor. They are not the same thing. You cannot substitute one for the other. Verse 11 obliges you to the poor but Verse 13 says an offering to Jesus sends the gospel around the world.

Whatever spirit seeks to curtail the funding of churches under any guise cannot be from God.

From your submission, I think people are mixing up offering and tithe. I agree that offerring is needed to fund the church and promote the gospel, but tithe is clearly a part of the abolished law and so shouldn't be categorised with offerring.
Please study Hebrew 7 as discussed by Goshen360.

Politics / Re: Babangida’s Endorsement Of APC Rattles PDP by Knowyaself(m): 3:29am On Mar 03, 2013
Gbawe:

Stop saying the same thing over and over again in different ways that are all united in redundancy. Every politician bring something. The APC would not be a Party with a winning mentality if it simplistically discriminates based on the past Party affiliation of potential new members.

Every candidate should pragmatically be inspected on an individual basis and managed well within the overall mission target of the APC. The APC should remain amenable to leveraging on any Political strength offered. Otherwise it has no business attempting to depose a Party that has cornered every aspect of Nigerian institutional ethos to remain in power. If people like you have your way, with you unambitious and unfeasibly populist talk, then Nigeria will keep producing Utomi and Gani Fawehinmi 'saintly' figures as challengers to the PDP. For obvious reasons, those sort, unless backed by a pragmatic political machine, will fail against the PDP in 100 attempts over 400 years.

Points well taken. But shall we now in a desperate attempt to wrestle power from pdp vote for even well known criminals just because they're on a different platform.
A strong opposition to pdp is a welcome development because, as someone mentioned above, it will have a positive knock-on effect on pdp's performance if they happen to emerge as the ruling party once again, having had a good fight/challenge at the polls. However I strongly beleive the focus should be on individuals and their credibility, and not on parties. I will feel no qualms voting for pdp again if I see in their flag bearer a more credible personality n vice versa.

And what's more. christainity is not just a religion to be compared to other religions - it is actually a way of life. The sooner pple start realising this, the better for their lives.

Guy cut dat crap. Letz be REALISTIC here. This thing doesn't make sense. What proof do u have dat u are more of a christian dan dis psn?? D simple tin is dat excesses r 2much. Dis is not Adeboye's site. He shd b displayin his msgs on his site everyday. Dis is a forum to discuss VAST ideas. Not to stick to one thing.

What can be more vast than the word of God? Be wise and run away from death my brother.
Besides, you don't have to be so bitter about this - if it displeases you, simply ignore and move on to other subjects on NL. But I guess most can't ignore the word of God, for it is sharper than the two edged sword, cutting through the dividing of the soul and spirit, and of the bone and marrow, and judges the desires and thoughts of the heart(heb 4:12)

Politics / Re: Don't Insult Jonathan On Facebook - N'Delta Group Appeals by Knowyaself(m): 3:27pm On Dec 30, 2012
I personally don't believe in employing insults to resolve issues. This goes for any sort of relationship - husband n wife, employer n employee, governor n d governed, etc. I consider d pple that do such as stupid and uncivilised. Critism is different from insults - the prevalence of this only goes to show how much our ethics n moral values have degenerated.
In my oppinion, freedom of speech should only be allowed in civilised countries like d UK n US, not in a place like Nigeria where most people find it hard to drive home their views without insulting others. Rubbish

Romance / Re: Should A Married Woman Wear A Short & Revealing Dress? by Knowyaself(m): 2:23pm On Dec 14, 2012
I just can't get it.what's d pursose for a woman, let alone a married one, to be dressed like a slut in d first place. And some pple here call it fashion n civilization. That's bullshit.even as a single lady, any right thinking man will not hv a good opinion of - our appearance tells so much about who we are. So why should a woman label herself a woman of easy virture when she's not and invite unwanted passes to herself. And for those husbands that think this is cool, u shud also hv the heart to take it when strangers make embarrassing passes to ur wives in ur presence or even lure her to start having affairs with them without ur knowledge. Nonsense.

Happy birthday Mr President. May God grant u d wisdom to lead our great country.
And for those in the habit of always insulting the president, havent u ever realised that kings don't just emerge - God appoints kings. So insulting a king is the height of being disrespectful to God. You can still make ur points by criticising constructively and respectfully. God bless our dear president, God bless Nigeria
