Chibuzormeks: Please, my family's SOWP and minor study permit application was refused based on insufficient funds. We provided 18k POF. Please is 18k POF sufficient for the two applications? I want to appeal for reconsideration but I don't know if the funds are okay. Note: I am working in a high-skilled TEER 1 job and I provided my employment documents and payslips but their application was still refused.
Lowoa: Wife is sponsoring herself. Husband is in canada already
Order the GCMS note to find out more about the concern of the visa officer. What kind of visas did the children apply for? Visit or study permit? To be honest, visa officers are just doing anything these days. How many months of statement of account did she use? Additionally, you must prove how she accumulated the money. Personal savings, gifts, property, loans, etc.
Lowoa: Good day Boses here. Please permit me for this lenghty post.
A family friend presently studying Masters in Canada had his wife and 3 children denied two days after submission. VO reason: monetary compensation in your job offer and your assets are insufficient for your self an and accompanying member. Profile Cash in bank 45M Monthly salary 450k Gift stated in SOP from husband bussiness 10M Please your kind advise will be appreciated. Thank you.
The money is too small. Who is the sponsor? I got the same for my family second refusals.
Hello bro, I saw your email request, but unfortunately I do not understand how Nairaland email works. Let me ask you: What are your children's ages? If they are of school age, please withdraw the application and apply for student permits for them. When I applied for my wife and children, my open work spousal permit and my children's visitor visas. The officer denied the visitor visa's applications but approved my wife's open work permit application. His reason for refusing them was that they are of school age and that they should apply for a study permit.
Immediately, I applied for the correct visa category for them, but within two weeks, they were all refused again. This has been an emotional trauma for me and my wife. How can she leave three kids in Nigeria? Please, my advice is to withdraw the application and apply for study permits for them.
If you need any assistance, others can help you in the SOWP Canada thread. Guys have been very helpful there.

My refusal Letter
This letter refers to your application to study in Canada as a temporary resident. On January 22, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) established an intake cap on most study permit applications. As a result, new study permit applications submitted to IRCC must include a provincial or territorial attestation letter (PAL/TAL) from the intended province or territory of study (or for applicants destined to Quebec, an attestation of issuance of a Quebec Acceptance Certificate that confirms the student has a place in Quebec’s share of distributed study permit applications), unless the criteria for an exception is met. Your application did not include a valid PAL/TAL from the province or territory where you plan to study and, based on the information provided in your application, you do not meet the criteria for an exception. Therefore, in accordance with the Ministerial Instructions with respect to the processing of certain applications for a study permit, your application cannot be accepted for processing. Your processing fees will be refunded. Refunds may take between 6 to 8 weeks to be issued. Should you choose to re-apply, please submit a new application including all required documents and pay all applicable fees. Please ensure you provide a valid PAL/TAL or provide evidence that you meet an exception as part of your submission. When I ask MP for a follow up this is what I got from her.
Fri, Jan 10, 10:51 AM to me
Hi xxxxx,
I spoke with IRCC this morning regarding xxxxx She noted that the officer stated that the letter provided was not valid, and that the applicant was not actually eligible to apply. Unfortunately, our time on the call ran out, so I have put in a request for more clarity on this one. Once I have more information, I will get back to you.
Thank you,
Next follow up
Jan 22, 2025, 1:37 PM (7 days ago) to me
Hi xxxx,
I spoke with IRCC again re: xxxx’ application, and they noted that the letter they received did no have his name on it. It was someone else’s name. They are assuming the wrong letter was uploaded with the application. This is what made the letter invalid. This can not be a re-consideration, and needs to be a new application with the correct letter.
Unless you have proof that the letter which was uploaded with the original application, a new application will need to be submitted.
Thank you,

However I reapplied for myself and mum 21/01/2025

Latest update: Review of medical results - January 29, 2025:You passed the medical exam.
All finger crossed. I actually completed upfront medical last year. before I applied
You will get a response soon about the final status of your application.
Bobomaigida: Why not apply through the GCkey as advised by @Believepls, also if you decide to still go with IRCC portal, you have to do so before 25th March as IRCC will be shutting it down. Get the documentary proofs and revamp your SOP as well.
As I was going through the questionnaire on GCkey, I don't know how to answer this question since they all children.
Are you applying for another family member? My oldest daughter is 10. When I said yes, they requested for family representative, use of family members form.
Bobomaigida: I think the issue is how the funds were raised in the account. Lump sum deposits and lack of documents to prove sources of income.
Thank you so much. Can I apply as soon as I can provide those documents? How soon can I apply again? I used the IRCC portal, and it's difficult to compress files to 2m. Any help I can get, please.
Bobomaigida: Sorry about the refusal, how were the funds raised? How many months statement did you submit? In whose accounts were the funds deposited also did you get the GCMS notes for the last application refused?
Bobomaigida: Sorry about the refusal, how were the funds raised? How many months' statement did you submit? In whose accounts were the funds deposited also did you get the GCMS notes for the last application refused?
This is personal savings. The fund is in my account, and I used 4 months' history. I didn't request the last GCMS note because it clearly stated that the children are supposed to apply for a study permit instead of visiting. We didn't see this coming at all.
I'm confused and I don't know what to do right now. My children were refused study permits again based on insufficient funds. The total funds used for the application is $46500 for three kids. My wife cannot leave these kids. They have waited for so long for them to be left behind. It's frustrating. I'm just confused right now.
Ihebb: Hello house, Please can someone help me with this: Am filling a study visa form that includes my children. Am asked to fill the letter of acceptance for them. Pls how do I go about this ? Am I to start scouting for schools for them? Or can I fill a visitor visa for them, will they be allowed to go to school? Pls help!
If your children are of school age, please do not apply for a visitor' s visa for them. They will be denied. My wife got approved for open work permit and my kids were denied because I applied for a visitors visa for them.
You can write a letter about the schools in your area that you wanted them to attend. Or you can quote part of the website where it says those in elementary outside of Canada are not required to submit letter of acceptance.
Bobomaigida: Once you have secured your PGWP and have a job offer, you can apply for WP extension for your spouse, her present WP will be valid till Sept 2025 I believe. Congratulations
My concern now is, PGWP application takes time before it is approved. A friend waited for 7 months after applying to get his approval.
I posted a while back about my spouse's inability to get the open work permit the second time. However, on October 30th, I submitted another application for her and the (3) children. I decided to apply for a visit visa for the children (great mistake) and an open work permit for my wife. On December 30th, my children were all refused because they are of school age; therefore, they were supposed to apply for a study permit. Meanwhile, I have applied for a study permit for them in the previous applications. But my wife received her open work permit.
Now this is where my problem is; I will be graduating this April and applying for PGWP. Can I apply for a work permit extension for my wife when applying for my PGWP? How do I navigate this? Has anyone been in this particular situation? Please, I need your help.
Mamagirls3: Hello guys, please has anyone traveled to Nigeria lately and returned on a study visa, are there checks at the POE , what does she need to go with please and can she spend 3 Weeks back home, she's so confused and scared they may not let her in once she leaves,
You can go home. I have traveled to Nigeria twice in one year. I even traveled to Nigeria during the academic session. Make sure your visa is valid and study permit is valid.
5 Proven Tips to Double Your Chicken Egg Production!
Are your chickens laying fewer eggs than you’d like? Follow these tips to help boost their productivity:
1. Balanced Diet: Make sure your chickens are eating a balanced diet with high-quality layer feed, plenty of calcium, and occasional treats like fruits, veggies, and protein.
2. Lighting: Chickens need about 14-16 hours of daylight to maintain strong egg production. Use artificial lighting during shorter days to mimic natural sunlight.
3. Clean Environment: A clean, comfortable coop reduces stress and illness, allowing your hens to focus on laying eggs. Regularly clean their space and provide fresh bedding.
4. Fresh Water: Always ensure your chickens have access to clean, fresh water. Dehydration can drastically reduce egg production.
5. Healthy, Happy Hens: Keep your chickens stress-free by providing plenty of space to roam and perch. A calm environment encourages more frequent egg-laying.
Duchess102: I think now is the best time to apply if you have sufficient fund, because bringing spouse with pgwp requires you securing a job in Canada for your spouse to qualify for SOWP. However your fund should be enough if you have paid your complete school fees and two of your children are eligible for VV. If the three children are applying for study permits, and your school fee is yet to be paid, then the VO is right. That money can't be enough. You should consider increasing the fund or maybe bringing your wife and a child first, later the other two children can join.
My children got a scholarship to attend a Christian school in my province. The ages 5, 7, 9. They are all of school ages.
My school fees are not paid yet, but I'm considering paying the school fees. And at the same time, I had a full-time job until the new law of 24 hours. But the job is still guarantee once I'm done with school. I will still continue to do the work under the 24 hours rules.
With information, what would you suggest that I do? I have traveled to Nigeria two times in a year to see my family. It's really hard for me leaving my family. We didn't apply together as family because their passports refused to come out at the right time.
Bobomaigida: So you have a total of $38,229.52 as total POF. Using the IRCC POF guide, for a family of 4, you will need $38,346. This fund will be for living expenses only, so Tuition is not here, and flight cost is not here as well, so you will need to increase the fund. That being said, you need to look at the sources of the funds and how they were raised, if the VO does not understand how the N25mm and $17k was raised they will flag the application due to insufficient funds. So, look at the explanation you gave for the sources of fund, bear in mind that whatever explanation you give for the sources of funds has to have documentary evidence backing it up.
Do you think having the money in my account is an issue? Honestly, this second refusal hits us so bad. We waited for three months. I told my wife that we should just chill for a while.
We did upfront medicals, and it will expire in December 19th.
Bobomaigida: No retreat, no surrender. Sorry for the refusal.
Could you provide the following information so we can advise you on the next course of action 1. How much was the POF? 2. In whose account was the POF? 3. What is your spouse's present occupation in Nigeria? 4. Did you add spouse's payslips if your occupation was a 9-5 job? 5. How long is the course you are doing and how much tuition has been paid?
Please if you can, respond so we join our big heads together to think of strategies to reapply.
1. I have $17k for Canada account and #25m in the Nigerian account. One wife and three kids.
2. The money is in my account.
3. My wife does not work outside because we run small family blended farm.
4. My course is two years, and I have done a year already.
Any suggestions on what to do better. I will be graduating next year April.
I am a student in Canada unfortunately my family application is refused the second time for this reason:
The compensation (monetary or other) indicated in your job offer and your assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel for yourself (and any accompanying family member(s), if applicable).
we applied for open work spousal permit and kids Study Permit. I told my wife that I am done applying, this is not a best time to apply.
