Ado - Ekiti - Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described the increment of the unit price of premium motor spirit (PMS) otherwise known as petrol from N86.50 to N145, as insensitive and demonstration of the level of hatred the President Mohammadu Buhari led All Progressives Congress (APC) government had for Nigerians. The governor, who said the over 70 per cent increment was another vindication of his predictions on what to expect in 2016, added that it was now clear that the scarcity of petrol being experienced in the last three months was deliberately orchestrated by the federal government to pave way for the already conceived increment. According to his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said “Nigerians are now left at the mercy of political liars who took over power by deception and are governing by deceit. He said he was waiting for the reaction of those who took to the streets to protest when fuel subsidy was removed by the Dr Goodluck Jonathan administration in 2012, urging labour unions in the country to stand by their members always, not minding the political party in government. He said; “When they were seeking for votes from Nigerians, they promised to reduce petrol pump price to from N87 to N45 per litre, they promised to create three million jobs per year, they said $1 will be equal to N1 and above all, they promised to pay unemployed youths N5, 000 stipend and provide one meal a day to pupils nationwide. “Instead of fulfilling their promises, they have increased petrol pump price to N145 per litre, increased electricity tariffs, retrenched thousands of workers and imposed untold hardships on Nigerians. “As they did in 2012, if labour leaders do not also stand up for the people at this time, posterity will not forgive them.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/petrol-price-increment-insensitive-to-nigerians-plight-fayose-tells-fg/ |

The Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Saturday described the continued detention of a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Warimopei Dudafa, and Friday’s siege on the home of a former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, as the height of “executive rascality”. Mr. Fayose said the EFCC operatives must understand that the nation is currently running a democratic system in which rule of law is sacrosanct. In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Mr. Fayose condemned the invasion of Mr. Fani-Kayode’s home despite an invitation by the EFCC for the politician to appear on Monday at its headquarters for questioning. “The EFCC under President Muhammadu Buhari is acting as if it is above the law and Nigerians and the international community must remind the commission that we are in a democracy where rule of law is sacrosanct,” Mr. Fayose said. Mr. Fayose further stated that the EFCC was recently scolded by a judge for its uncivilised manner the agency treats suspects. “The EFCC must be reminded of the judgement delivered in March, this year by Justice Yusuf Haliru of the Federal High Court in Nicholas Arinse Vs EFCC & Nigerian Army where the judge held that the EFCC did not behave as if we were in a civilised society and that the anti-graft commission was behaving as if we were in a military dictatorship, where they arrest and release person at will. “In the case of the former Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs to ex-President Jonathan, no one is saying those suspected of corrupt practices should not be investigated and tried, but it is wrong for Warimopei Dudafa to have been kept in EFCC custody for over two weeks without trial. “Also, it is a demonstration of barbarism for the same EFCC that invited Fani-Kayode to its office on Monday to have invaded his house yesterday, holding the occupants hostage for eight hours when there is no evidence that Fani-Kayode refused to honour EFCC invitation. “Why the show of barbarism by the EFCC as if Nigeria is now back to 1984 when Buhari was a military dictator?” the governor questioned. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/more-news/203055-fayose-slams-buharis-executive-rascality-fani-kayode-home-raid.html |
