The votes APC got in Benue are based on two reasons.

1. Akume factor: The guy has a cult like followership in his senatorial zone. In the event that APC gets majority in Senate, he may likely return as senate President.

2. Some of those votes are protest votes against the governor. Orton has performed so badly and the people wants change. PDP made a mistake by accepting him back and handing over the ticket to him on a platter of gold.

Having said this, it's very impossible for APC to win in Benue.
