Hello VO,

My fiancé is about to start filing for our K1 visa now. As she required her naturalisation letter to file which she had misplaced and its talking so long to get another one. However, she's going to start without it now. I meet some who advised me to also request for a business visa so I went ahead to pay the visa fee got an appointment for the 27th of this month. This person inviting is on a business purpose. I'm yet to fill the D.S 160 form. But I have now changed my mind on it. Pls advise how do I cancel the appointment. Also I mistakenly quoted a wrong date of birth for my mum the last time I applied which is 2 years ago. Now that I'm applying for a k1 should I maintain the wrong DOB for my mum or state the correct one.

Thanks

Please, if i may ask for what transaction did u purchase for. and did you get cash ??
BusinessRe: Who Has Been Able To Buy Dollar At The Inter Bank Rates Of 253-260 Today? by kokobongo: 11:51am On Jun 21, 2016
stagger:
Note the bolded. Unless you are a bank, you cannot buy at that rate. That is the rate that banks will buy from the primary dealers (who are banks anyway). In other words, the big banks in Nigeria who will be the nominated primary dealers will sell to other banks at the interbank rate. That is what it is called INTERBANK i.e. between one bank to another.

When your bank now buys at the interbank rate, they will now sell to the end-users at a profit. So if your bank quoted you at N319, they will make a profit of 319 - 260 = N59 to the dollar.

Usually, if you are buying huge amounts of dollars, then you will get it cheaper as per bulk purchase. So if you are buying $100,000, then your bank may offer you at 310 or 305 because the volume will compensate for the discount.

If you are buyng smaller quantities such as $1000, the bank will give you an expensive quote. Visit any forex trading ECN platform to understand it. Even in globalized forex trading, a true ECN platform will show price quotes from several liquidity providers (the equivalent of the primary market dealers) and the prices are never the same.

Those who think the Naira will appreciate under the present circumstances are dreamers. Naira will only appreciate when the country becomes a net exporter as opposed to a net importer.

If we had schools and hospitals which can attract foreigners to pay in USD, it would have helped. If we can export all manner of products as opposed to only crude and small amounts of charcoal, cashew, etc, then the Naira will gain.

Until then, you will not be able to get Naira at below 300. That I can tell you for real.
Nice one. But note. from the results below of the CBN SPECIAL SECONDARY MARKET INTERVENTION SALES

The USDNGN official rate effectively becomes N280/$.

however, these monies where used to clear only the back log of pending transactions.

also, note that. The CBN regulates strictly the spreads/margins in which these FXPD can make so i dont think any bank will sell above NGN300/USD1.

it will still take about 1 week or more before we can ascertain the real value and at what rate the banks will be selling. i for sure know the difference cannot be more than 10 naira from the interbank market rate

CBN INTERBANK INTERVENTION RESULT

1 AMOUNT SOLD = US$532,867,169.11

2 HIGHEST RATE= NGN382.00/US$

3 LOWEST RATE= NGN197.00/US$

4 MARGINAL RATE= NGN280.00/US$

5 NO. OF BANKS= 21
TravelRe: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by kokobongo:
Hi House,

I'm a Little confused on the visa category I should apply for. B1 or B1/B2. I'm traveling to NY for a business meeting. That's the purpose of my travel. However, I'll also use that opportunity to visit my fiancé in Houston. Our introduction is next month and we are starting to put doc together for a K1 visa. So I'm confused what category. I've once been denied in 2014. So this will be my 2nd time applying. Thanks
CultureThe Yoruba Are Genetically 99.9 Percent Igbo – Study Reveals by kokobongo(op): 8:31am On Jun 18, 2016
Four of the major coastal tribes of Western Africa: the Yoruba, Igbo, Akan and the Gaa-Adangbe are dissimilar at a glance and evidently geographic neighbours, but very closely related, if examined in detail at the genetic level.

Several studies have been employed over the years, with findings bringing up linkages of genetic similarity between differing regional ethnic groups. One in particular, conducted by Adebowale Adeyemo, Guanjie Chen, Yuanxiu Chen, the National Human Genome Centre and Howard University, and Charles Rotimi of the University of Ibadan provided results indicating the genetic similarities between the four major West African ethnic groups.

Their findings further indicated surprising genetic variance within groups, but almost none across groups, similar to the closeness of human genetics across races, showing more range within than without.

According to this landmark study there was 99.9 percent within-population variance, the between-population variance was less than 0.1 percent. This means that Yorubas, Igbos, Gaa and Akan are 99.9 percent similar, while within each of the groups there are variations/differences between individuals as high as 99 percent i.e. One Igbo may be 99 percent genetically different from another Igbo, or one Yoruba person to another.

It is important to remember that these groups were not initially split by national borders; prior to the European division of the continent, these ethnic peoples traded, migrated and wedded as the times permitted, allowing apparent regional and national mixtures that remain evident in modern day genetic analyses of some Yoruba and Igbo individuals.

Race and ethnicity are considered to be related concepts. Ethnicity is often assumed to be somewhat more of a cultural identity of a group, often based on shared ancestry, language and cultural tradition, while race is assumed to be strictly a biological classification, based on genetic materials and bone structure. Ethnicity is often used synonymously with ambiguous terms such as nation or people, depending on which source of group identity is emphasized to define membership, the following types of (often mutually overlapping) groups are:

Ethno-linguistic, emphasizing shared language, dialect or script — example: Hausa.
Ethno-national, emphasizing a shared polity or sense of national identity — example: Nigerian.
Ethno-racial, emphasizing shared physical appearance based on genetic origins — example: African-American.
Ethno-regional, emphasizing a distinct local sense of belonging stemming from relative geographic isolation — example: South Islanders.
Ethno-religious, emphasizing shared affiliation with a particular religion, denomination or sect — example: Christians.

Also worthy of note is the shared Volta-Niger root languages, Yoruba and Igbo languages belong to the same family (YEAI branch), showing the common start of the diverse languages spoken by these ethnicities.Consequently, barring the inclusion of culture, tribal affiliation and nationality, it could be said that the the Yorubas, the Igbos, the Akans and the Gaa-Adangbes are but a people spread over a wide area with different ways of life. Thus discrediting any claim of a unique Yoruba “race” or a genetically insured Igbo ethnicity often employed by politicians and traditional rulers in rhetorics and propaganda messages.

The reality, however, is the hampered economic strength of a not truly united front, with success delayed continually by the lack of pan-African sentiments on the part of the leadership, and poor economic decisions taken in an imperialist system. This is not to revile the revered skin deep differences in each group’s cultural development, but serves to indicate and rejoice in the underlying sameness of what appears ‘not’ to be.

A body does not fight itself. These kinds of research serve as a balm to the much divided heart of the ethnically-concerned West African, and to the African at large: one root, many branches; united by blood if not spirit.

Guys, you lot should learn from Tubaba's mistake. Don't have babies with different mothers. You can never balance things.

God bless his children
I have friend who has 3 from different ladies. He lucky cos all of them r abroad, U.K. US and Tanzania. I'm still advising him to marry one of them as he's not even married to any. He's still jumping up and down feeling like a single guy and annoying saying he's searching!!! He grew up from a comfortable home and now denying these kids complete parenting. We men sha. Men are not left alone in this, as ladies will never cease to amuse me. This my friend works in the oil and gas sector. Big boi but doesn't have any manners or respect for ladies. I still wonder where he got it from cos his Dad is a complete gentleman. I know the UK girl, he insults her Anyhow whenever she comes visting. Brags at her presence how he funded her travel down here etc. they sometimes insult eachother even when we go out. I was shocked when he told me the babe is pregnant and what's to keep the baby.
We still went to pick up babes from Unilag yesterday night. God will help us

CrimeLatino Man Kills Igbo Wife 'Obiamaka Aduba', Wheels Her Topless Corpse by kokobongo(op): 3:34pm On May 23, 2016
MARINERS HARBOR, Staten Island (WABC) – A man has been charged with murder for killing his common-law wife and rolling the body on a dolly Friday in Staten Island.

31-year-old Anthony Lopez was arrested Saturday on murder and concealing a human corpse charges.
The NYPD says Lopez fled Friday morning after an off-duty detective saw him wheeling the corpse, identified as 26-year-old Aduba Obiamaka, covered with a sheet, on Staten Island and tried to question him.

Aduba is of Nigerian ancestry, and Nigerians especially those of the 'Igbo' descent are viscerally shocked as to her violent death. They are wondering how a Nigerian woman, as her name indicates, could have fallen by the way side and be associated with such a criminal element.

Police say that officers, acting on a tip, located Lopez in Manhattan and arrested him after chasing him several blocks They say he’d shaved his head.

The 31-year-old is no stranger to law enforcement – he has 52 prior arrests dating back to 2007. His wife reportedly has 19 prior arrests herself, and the couple has 4 domestic violence incidents on file with police.

According to the Medical Examiner, Obiamaka was asphyxiated.
Before Lopez was transferred to the police precinct, he went to a hospital to deal with drug withdrawal problems.

Eyewitness News is told that Lopez called his brother making statements indicating he had killed his wife.
