Politics / Re: Petrol: Oil Marketers Propose N550/litre Price To Dangote by KORLAR(m): 1:09pm On Apr 08
eddyline:
If 550 is what they are proposing to Dangote, then it means that there wont be much difference in price at all.

There will.
Independent marketers get it at 640 from depot owners who get it at 555 from Nnpc.

I believe that if independent marketers get it at 550 from Dangote rather that 640 from depot owners, it’d retail for lower than it presently is.

rinzaugustine:
Lol now you know why they were wailing loudly with microphones in the past few days to drop the dollar in your possession…maybe they thought everybody is brain dead like their supporters who believe in those useless APC propaganda abracadabra that’s full of lies. Borrowing money to strength the dollars is not and will never be an economy policy to any sane mind

Shut up.

Do you know more than the IMF?

The International Monetary Fund recently projected that Nigeria’s foreign reserve would experience a significant reduction, plummeting to $24bn by 2024. The IMF foresaw a challenging period for Nigeria’s financial account through 2024–25, driven by the absence of new Eurobond issuances, substantial repayments of existing funds and Eurobonds totalling $3.5bn, and continued portfolio outflows.

God1000:
No Israel on the list, the so-called christian country.

According to a report At the end of 2022, Christians made up 1.9% of the Israeli population, numbering approximately 185,000. 75.8% of the Christians in Israel are Arab Christians.
Imagine, in a country of 9.5 million people, only 185,000 are christians.

The worst thing that can happen to any man is to ignorantly support the wrong cause.

Happy Sunday nairalanders

How are Arab Christians different from Christians.

Ever heard of cost push inflation?

You guys don't know that price of petrol that went from 165 to 650 naira and high cost of diesel is the major factor of the inflation.

There’s that and there’s excess money supply.

Watch and see, prices for some commodities have started reducing; more will follow.

Trial and error financial techniques.
Pump $$$ from foreign reserves to save a dying naira so people can applaud you for a week.

It means interest rate has increased.
It will scare people from borrowing.
And those who borrow will have to increase their cost price which will increase the selling price, thereby making inflation higher.

Nope.
There’s excess money supply in the economy which is part of what’s causing inflationary pressures. The increase is to mop up money supply.

123yes:
You are right Mr Trump. But what Hamas did to them that 7 of October attack was really disheartening. I pity Palestinian children who are worst affected by this Israeli retaliation attack. Peace to the world!

Y’all act like this thing started on Oct 7.
Israel has been bullying the people of Gaza on their own turf for years.
Numerous videos of them laying siege on them and even going as far as assaulting them in their mosques during worship but the western propaganda machine would have you believe it started on October 7

Most people that support/supported Israel do so on the basis of religion forgetting that not only Muslims live in Gaza.

A lot of supporters of these atrocities have now rescinded their support because social media has exposed Israel’s propaganda for what it is.

I hope you see same too.

Imagine Tinubu talking about arithmetic.

But he turned himself into a jester with his "Na statistics we go chop" jibe.

Yes, because Peter was reeling out pointless and erroneous statistics, including his baseless requirement of 25% in the FCT, that barely had anything to do with Nigerians.
Tinubu spoke the language the people understand and now he’s president, while statistics man is counting is losses.

This is what I expected Ningi to point out rather than calling the review of the budget, padding.

So many line by line discrepancies in the budget.
I just hope someone finds the time to go through it line by line. You’d be shocked.

Imagine ordinary appointed minister disrespecting and talking to an elected senator of the federal Republic of Nigeria, can such a thing happen in the US? Can't she summon Wike to the NASS? And why are her colleagues not protecting her? Nigeria is a mess.

How can you say minister of FCT is ordinary?
Minister of FCT is almost equivalent to a governor.

She can’t summon shit. Her only leverage is using the senate and it appears Wike has more influence than her there.

The position of chief of staff is pretty normal. Most people just only associate it with governors, presidents, and the likes.

Most MDs and CEOs of big corporations have chief of staff. Even those that don’t necessarily have the title have people that play the role.

Politics / Re: Shehu Sani Explains Why Senators, Including Opposition Members, Fear Suspension by KORLAR(m): 12:53pm On Mar 14
BlueRayDick:
But which kind yeye democratic system we dey run for this country?

A senator is a representative of his constituents; they are the ones who voted for him to represent them at the national level. Why should fellow senators suspend a senator thereby preventing him from carrying out legislative duties which his constituents sent him there to do?

Senators suspending their fellow senator because they do not agree with him on an issue should not be allowed by law. Why prevent him from carrying out his legislative duty when u didn't vote him into senate in the first place?

You’re only being sentimental.
The senate like other institutions have rules and standing orders.

Any senator that gets suspended on the basis of violating those rules should be blamed for being suspended on that basis.

If the senator cared about his constituents, he shouldn’t have violated the rules of the senate.
Politics / Re: Bill On Power Rotation Passes First Reading In Senate by KORLAR(m): 12:44pm On Mar 14
mrvitalis:

Power rotation would actually guarantee we elect credible people

Once it's this zone turn we know it's all about selecting best candidate from that particular zone

It doesn’t guarantee anything, there are crooks in every zone and anyone who has the means and clout can clinch an elective seat.

Nigeria has been rotating its presidency between north and south, with both sides of the divide taking turns to plunder the her resources.

Even if you microzone it to a family, if the crooked ones keep coming out top; nothing can make development come.

The most important thing is for electorates to genuinely vote competent people who have the interest of the country at heart.

For me, I don’t mind if a particular zone rules us forever so far it comes with the development we truly need.

We focus too much on the minors.
What we need are very good systems and leaders irrespective of tribe and other biases.

This country's journey is still long

Same country where CNG buses remain audio and subsidy is evil o

Excluding the breakdown of GOEs, the National Assembly, and others has been the norm since forever.

Ningi is a ranking senator meaning he’s been aware of all of these for years as a senator.
Why is he just speaking now?
Why didn’t he present his facts on the floor of the senate as a senator rather than embarrass the senate, the country, and the federal government?

Lol. It's pretty obvious from the start that Peter Obi is just as wasteful as the politicians he has been criticizing.

One can even say he's worse, judging from the way he's been painting himself a Saint. Imagine buying that amount of vehicle when he was still owing Anambra state workers salary.

As time goes one, revelation upon revelation will be revealed and those who have brains will see Peter Obi for who he really is.

That’s even just by the way, find out how many traditional rulers are in Anambra to be more flabbergasted.

Sources say they are not up to 150 so who got the remaining 250 SUVs?

As I’ve said before; Obi would be exposed for his hypocrisy.
