You guys don't know that price of petrol that went from 165 to 650 naira and high cost of diesel is the major factor of the inflation. There’s that and there’s excess money supply. Watch and see, prices for some commodities have started reducing; more will follow. |

And those who borrow will have to increase their cost price which will increase the selling price, thereby making inflation higher. Nope. There’s excess money supply in the economy which is part of what’s causing inflationary pressures. The increase is to mop up money supply. |

Peace to the world! Y’all act like this thing started on Oct 7. Israel has been bullying the people of Gaza on their own turf for years. Numerous videos of them laying siege on them and even going as far as assaulting them in their mosques during worship but the western propaganda machine would have you believe it started on October 7 Most people that support/supported Israel do so on the basis of religion forgetting that not only Muslims live in Gaza. A lot of supporters of these atrocities have now rescinded their support because social media has exposed Israel’s propaganda for what it is. I hope you see same too. |

And why are her colleagues not protecting her? Nigeria is a mess. How can you say minister of FCT is ordinary? Minister of FCT is almost equivalent to a governor. She can’t summon shit. Her only leverage is using the senate and it appears Wike has more influence than her there. |

BlueRayDick: But which kind yeye democratic system we dey run for this country?
A senator is a representative of his constituents; they are the ones who voted for him to represent them at the national level. Why should fellow senators suspend a senator thereby preventing him from carrying out legislative duties which his constituents sent him there to do?
Senators suspending their fellow senator because they do not agree with him on an issue should not be allowed by law. Why prevent him from carrying out his legislative duty when u didn't vote him into senate in the first place? You’re only being sentimental. The senate like other institutions have rules and standing orders. Any senator that gets suspended on the basis of violating those rules should be blamed for being suspended on that basis. If the senator cared about his constituents, he shouldn’t have violated the rules of the senate. |

mrvitalis: Power rotation would actually guarantee we elect credible people
Once it's this zone turn we know it's all about selecting best candidate from that particular zone It doesn’t guarantee anything, there are crooks in every zone and anyone who has the means and clout can clinch an elective seat. Nigeria has been rotating its presidency between north and south, with both sides of the divide taking turns to plunder the her resources. Even if you microzone it to a family, if the crooked ones keep coming out top; nothing can make development come. The most important thing is for electorates to genuinely vote competent people who have the interest of the country at heart. For me, I don’t mind if a particular zone rules us forever so far it comes with the development we truly need. We focus too much on the minors. What we need are very good systems and leaders irrespective of tribe and other biases. |

ivolt: The writer has been fooled. He thinks he can help CBN on a goose chase.
The $26 billion is a figment of Cardoso's imagination. They needed a scapegoat for the falling Naira and they found Binance a good spot because some group of idiots kept posting Binance's USDT rates as the true exchange rate even though we know that USDT is not dollar and you don't need dollar to buy USDT.
With the fact that Binance has been banned in several western and anti-Chinese countries, the CBN latched on to it and label the platform the face of evil.
If the CBN believes that Binance determines Naira exchange rate, all it need do is to push its own agents or make deal with some BDC to register on the platform and manipulatively sell at the lower "true" rate so those quoting the rate will be forced to adapt or leave. It could alsoe have secretly pressured Binance to remove or limit the activities of the "manipulators". Binance did about a million dollar-Naira transactions per day. Imagine if the CBN opened its own kiosk to generate $1 million USDT at the true rate, the "manipulators", would run out of business or be forced to sell at the "true" rate.
But the government needed the theatrics, an external scapegoat that people can curse and attack for the bad economy. It is all showmanship.
In few months, the whole Binance issue will not be mentioned anymore and it will be quietly retired. We won't get any update about the $26 billion or the owners again after that. Only ignorant people would take your comedic submission as fact. The obviously observable fact is that naira stopped its free flow depreciation against the dollar after the govt clamped down on binance. And that’s fact. |
