Politics / How To Fund (donate To) Kowa Party. by KOWAnigeria: 5:21pm On Jan 01, 2017
Fellow Nigerians, it is a thing of joy that despite the many challenges we faced as a nation in 2016, 2017 is now upon us. We cannot forget our fellow compatriots who lost their lives to the many mayhems that befell us last year. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and loved ones.
We hope justice is served someday and soon.

The many happenings in 2016 have shown us that Nigeria is in need of a real government. One that is truly purposeful. Indeed, we desperately need leadership that is people-centred across all arms and tiers of government. The KOWA Party's manifesto and ideals show that we are the alternative that can deliver the succour that Nigerians yearn for. We carried out massive social media campaigns in 2016 and many more people have now subscribed to what we stand for 'n believe in.

However, as 2019 draws nigh with the opportunity for us to take our destinies in our hands, we must move beyond social media. Therefore, the time has come and we call upon every Nigerian that seeks a better Nigeria to #FundKOWA. We must put our money where our heart lies and our contributions, irrespective of the size, will go a long way to #FundKOWA.

A simple SMS with the word 'KOWA' sent to 35818 will contribute 100 Naira towards making our country work. Think about it, you'll be contributing towards ensuring a better future for our children by foregoing one PET bottle of soft drink.

It's quick and easy. Text 'KOWA' to 35818 to donate 100 Naira.

You'll then receive a text message to confirm receipt. You can send the SMS as many times as you want and as frequently as you choose.

100 Naira a day/week/month can and will do a lot
#FundKOWA

You may also donate online by visiting kowaparty.net/donate-online/.

You may also donate by bank transfer to our account on that page.

Running a political party is expensive and so is politics itself. Please help KOWA become (more) formidable by donating generously. Monthly financial reports will be published on our website kowaparty.net for transparency and accountability.

Together we make a difference !

Politics / KOWA Party's Statement On Release Of 21 Chibok Girls And IMN by KOWAnigeria: 5:43pm On Oct 13, 2016
Today, we are greeted with news of 21 girls who have been released by Boko Haram and it is great news to our ears and as we are sure to the ears of the parents of the girls.

We COMMEND all stakeholders who have participated in the negotiations and we hope that successes like this can keep being recorded.

The recent bomb blast in Maiduguri by Boko Haram has also left us sorrowful and wondering. The Security Situation which has to a large extent being relatively handled is now starting to be a cause for concern again. Questions that remain to be answered are many including the motive for releasing kidnapped girls after an attack was carried out a day before and whether truly the girls were exchanged for four of the top commanders of the sect.

Our prayers are with the family of the deceased those injured and with soldiers at the war front. We call for an intensified effort which could involve bringing in private security firms for intelligence and a vigilance over the security situation in the North East.

In Furtherance, news filtered through Last Friday that Kaduna State has banned the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) describing the group as an “unlawful society”. The government said “the action was taken to preserve peace and security in the state and to ensure that all persons and organisation are guided by lawful conduct and with due allegiance to Nigeria States and its constitution” among other reasons.

The State Government relied on section 45 (1) of the 1999 constitution which it said gave it the powers to take such necessary measures and actions for the promotion and protection of public safety, public order and public morality.

Less than a week after, the Kano State Government on Tuesday 11th October, 2016 also banned the activities of the (IMN). The police in Kano State while announcing the ban in a statement warned the people of the state especially those who organise and conduct processions in the name of religious rites to desist from doing so or face the wrath of the law.

This is coming at a time when the States of Katsina and Kebbi and more recently Jigawa state had also declared the activities of the (IMN) as illegal.

Having studied the situation and the unease it has caused in the polity, we are of the view that while the intention of the state governments for proscribing the Shiite movement maybe in the best interest of their subjects, we dare say that the manner or approach they went about it, is rather confrontational and may achieve the opposite.

While the security and continuous peaceful coexistence of citizens remain the paramount objective of the state government, it is also incumbent on the government not to infringe or foreclose the constitutional rights of Freedom of association, Movement and Worship of a people on account of their meager population as that will amount to crass injustice which could have dire consequences for the nation.

It is on record that several religious organisations in the country despite not being registered, have carried on their activities and many times constituting public nuisance in the cause of same. Singling out the (IMN) for their non registration and using it as a fodder to ban the group is rather preposterous and counterintuitive. Neither is the claims of their not paying allegiance to the national flag and issue for the state governments to make an issue out of―as matters of allegiance are within the legislative competence of the Federal Government.

The least these state governments could have done therefore was to interface with the Federal Government in working out modalities more civil to handle the issue given the national crisis a confrontational approach as have been taken by these state governments can precipitate. There is no threat greater than foreclosing a man from worshipping what he believes in as he does not infringe on the right of another man in the process. This is because nothing leads a man to destroy or kill his fellow man than religious sentiments.

The Ashura procession is a global invent marked every year by all members of the Shiite Islamic Sect and hence, nothing can stop its followers in Nigeria from joining other people in other parts of the world to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (the 3rd Imam of the Sect) and 72 others 1400 years ago.

Let us sternly warn that the continuous detention of the leader of the Sect Sheik Zakzakky for whatever reasons being put out in the media, the extra judicial manner over which their members were killed last year by the Nigerian Army including 6 sons of the group’s leader, the recent killings of more of their members and the latest reckless act of banning the Sect maybe seen as a declaration of war on the group. Let us be reminded that nothing can stop a people who have being pushed to the wall from bouncing back using what manner of force they elect.

Against the backdrop of the foregoing, we call on President Muhammadu Buhari to release the IMN Leader, summon a meeting of all the Northern state governors and representatives of all faith groups to deliberate and come up with a solution to the problem the (IMN) poses that will benefit both sides and not the present confrontational or knee-jerk approach which at best is a tinderbox that could lead to a conflagration to the best of our knowledge.

The (IMN) it must be noted is not a terrorist organisation at least not that we have heard of.

We already have enough problems as a nation to grapple with on our hands; let us not add to it. In the meantime we call on the several state governments to lift the bans and to allow a polity already overcharged to enjoy some calm. A stitch in time saves nine.

May God Bless Federal Republic of Nigeria

Politics / KOWA Party's Endorsemnt Of The PDP In Edo State Is False! by KOWAnigeria: 9:27pm On Sep 10, 2016
1. Our attention has been drawn to news circulating in the media about KOWA Party's endorsement of the PDP's candidate in Edo State.

2. We want to state affirmatively that this endorsement is in no way the position of our party.

3. Barrister Thompson Osadolor and his campaign team acted unilaterally without consultations and against the guidelines of the party.

4. What we represent as a party is a clean break from the governance models and patronage politics that is currently entrenched in PDP & APC

5. A similarity in manifesto is therefore not a sufficient and necessary criterion for PDP's candidate to get our party's endorsement.

6. The BOT/NEC of our Party has therefore forwarded Barrister Thompson Osadolor's dismissal from our party with immediate effect.

7. His actions are tantamount to anti-party activities and against the spirit and the ideology of our party.

8. Our party would abide by our principles and ideology no matter how many votes we get.

9. Our Party would abide by its principles, ideology and as opposed to Barrister Osadolor, our party is not is not withdrawing from the race

10. The appropriate authorities will get our letters on Wednesday due to the public holidays as we work on a more detailed Press Statement.

11. We implore our members & supporters to not lose hope & stay steadfast as we explore the legal means to correct this unfortunate incident

12. We wish all our muslim friends Happy Sallah and everyone a beautiful holiday.

13. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Politics / State Of The Nation Address From Kowa Party by KOWAnigeria: 4:53pm On Aug 31, 2016
STATE OF THE NATION ADDRESS FROM KOWA PARTY

Fellow Nigerians,
We have found it necessary for us to address the nation on what we perceive as the current state of affairs of our country as it affects Nigerian Citizens both home and abroad and provide much needed criticism and alternative to the policies or lack of it that the incumbent administration have chosen to work with or not work with as the case may be. We also plan to regularly at the end of every month address Nigerians on the state of the nation and what we believe should be the way forward to bring in progress and prosperity to our people.
Today, our nation is fortunately still standing and against all odds, the resilient spirit of Nigerians has at more than any period in our history shown up to withstand the many unfortunate effects of an economic recession that bites hard and harder every day and once again, there is relative peace both in the Niger Delta Region and the North-East where vast amounts of lands that were inaccessible are now accessible. As gloom continues to define the global economy in all the continents of the world, the die-hard spirit of our people still ensures that business and economic activity, even though in the barest minimum do not ground to a halt. The Nigerian People continue to show in word and in practice that ours is a country we can be proud of and a country that can still achieve its potential and rise to become a global power in the nearest future.
This die-hard spirit does not necessarily overshadow the current landscape of our society. More people continue to die of extreme hunger, malnutrition and food insecurity in the North-East. Inflation continues to rise and shame the down-trodden of our society where they now exchange children for food so other members of their families can survive. Herdsmen continue to cause mayhem and kill innocent citizens going about their farming duties in the middle-belt while kidnapping has now turned into a full time job to the extent that it now forms part of our daily satire in scornfully laughing at the state of our nation. The business environment continues to lose more stakeholders to neighbouring countries in search of green pastures seeing that ours is no more green and forex policies continue to choke businesses who would rather invest in our land even as state governments that are not viable in any economic sense, still owing salaries continue to celebrate their existence as a political entity for the benefit of those who wield the political power in such places. Our currency is currently the third worst performing currency in the world next to the likes of Venezuela and in the midst of these, there is a rising profile of violations of the fundamental human rights of citizens all across the country both by individuals under the umbrella of religion or ideology and the state itself under the aegis of recently conceptualized notions that are ambiguous enough to warranty abuse - words ranging from cyber-stalking to breach of public peace. Our people who no longer even expect dividends of democracy in terms of development and growth and better standards of living are now even denied the fundamental freedoms that are guaranteed under democratic rule.
Our nation is headed for a ditch and a U-Turn is URGENTLY NEEDED to save us from the impending doom that we are destined for should we continue on this path.
On the economy, It is becoming clearer and clearer by the day that the economic team headed by the Vice President and managed by the Minister of Finance does not have the clout and the capacity to woo investors into an economy that is technically in a recession and that the environment is not conducive even for those who have not decided to leave for one reason or the other. For a turnaround in the economy, We advise that the Federal Government immediately consider the Organised Private Sector (OPS) and invite her representatives to the economic team of the administration. This would not just boost the confidence of the private sector in the plans that are being pushed forth but will ensure that support is given to the plans and policies and a high sense of ownership will follow. This singular act will go a long way in bringing the much needed clout and support that the current economic team requires push forth polices that create the enabling environment for business, ensure those policies work, woo investors who are interested in businesses not governments and deliver the desired results. Much more than any effect that will be evident, the Federal Government’s economic team will then realize that there is not much need for the unnecessary emergency powers that the government is seeking from Parliament.
On Security, We advise that an executive bill that relaxes the exclusivity of the Federal Government on the Nigeria Police Force be sent to Parliament for ratification so that individual states can set up mini-task forces that can work hand in hand with the Nigerian Police Force to ensure security of lives and property. All Policing is LOCAL and the same way citizens are not empowered to secure their lives and properties from herdsmen in the middle belt or to secure their friends from erratic criminals hiding under the umbrella of religion to kill in the name of a deity, an over-bloated Police Force cannot cope with securing 180 million Nigerians in their homes and at work.
On Internally Displaced Persons in the North East, We are aware that there are pockets of government efforts to arrest the situation, but as is evident, neither the state government nor the National Emergency Management Agency does NOT have the capacity to arrest the situation that is fast becoming the scourge of our nation and the stain on our conscience. We advise that help be sought from citizens and the international community to come to the aid of fellow human beings in need of humanitarian help so that what is already a devastating and heart wrenching situation does not worsen. There is an URGENT need to muster political will to save those who are in need and have been displaced from their homes. Much more importantly, the future of the children who are caught in this crisis needs to be given UTMOST priority with immediate effect in order to curtail what might become a generational crisis in that region.
On Agriculture, we commend the long awaited Agricultural Promotion Policy of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, what is needed is immediate ACTION and an understanding that these policy frameworks will not and cannot be effected in isolation of all other activities of the government. There is a need to arrest generally so that a situation where fertilizer which sold for N3000 this time last year and currently sells for N8000 will be curtailed.
On Power, we understand the relationship between peace in the Niger Delta and the stability of Power generation through gas and we hope that the current stability in the cities that exists continues. But, we cannot continue to run our economy on HOPE. There is the need to be able to guarantee Power Supply irrespective of what happens in the Delta Region and as such, we are advising that the Ministry of Power starts to consider alternative means of power generation asides gas. The notion that it cannot be done should be eradicated. If other countries have done this, we can too.
On Human Rights Violations, there is a need to understand the growing sentiment amongst the people of Nigeria by the incumbent government. Mr President’s notoriety for human rights violations during his time as military head of state still instils some measure of doubt about Mr President’s stand on violations of citizens’ right. A situation where events in the country point to a journey back to these times under this administration and there is NO attempt to either exude confidence in the belief and obedience to the rule of law or even outright actions that show flagrant disregard of the rule of law and these violations is NOT just dangerous, it is also unacceptable. Freedoms guaranteed in the constitution to citizens must be upheld and fundamental rights of citizens must not be violated. These actions and attitude by agencies representing the Federal Government or acting on the orders of the Presidency MUST STOP!
On Anti-Corruption, it is becoming more and more evident that if the trend continues, our anti-graft agencies will have become hungry lions and tigers to the average wo/man on the streets who delve into corrupt practices preying on them with precision and accuracy and just mere barking dogs tied to a cage to those who sit very highly in power who can only bark and bark without the ability to do anything to them. The many trials of those who sit highly in courts have gone on and on forever ending in indefinite adjournment by courts including a case against Mr President on the presentation of his certificates. The current events in the National Assembly involving various allegations against principal officers of the National Assembly have been treated without rigour showing an absence of political will and a step back from Mr President’s claims that no sacred cows will exist. This trend also has to stop. Nobody MUST be above the law and immune from investigations or query. The Speaker of the House of Assembly, other alleged principal officers and Hon Jibrin Addulmumin MUST ALL submit themselves for investigation and prosecution should there be need.
On the Judiciary, there is an URGENT NEED to save the face of the bar and the bench in what is fast becoming a threat to our democracy and the stability and peace of our society. The rate at which the judicial arm of government is deteriorating is not encouraging and more than any branch of government, the judiciary has what it takes to cripple our society faster than we can bounce back from. The reforms needed in the judiciary to curtail incidences of double judgements, corruption on the bench and abuse/misuse of judges for individual purposes or purposes for a group of persons therefore needs to begin immediately. It is high time this proposed reforms are put in place for the benefit of all in our society.
Overall, as it currently stands, we have so much work to do to ensure that we do not sleepwalk into the disaster that we are already marching towards. In another month from now, we would be celebrating independence from our colonial masters for more than 50 years, If we are still not able to confidently boast that we are on a path to achieving the so great a potential that was seen and testified to at independence both by local and international observers, then our existence as a people and as a united country will be put to question.
We urge all citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria both home and abroad to continue to support the efforts of the government to make our lives better, abiding by the laws of the land, paying our taxes and dues to the government, commending efforts and encouraging results and condemning all condemnable actions in exercise of our office of the citizen which is the highest office in the land. Though the economic recession continues to bite us, it is our hope and prayer that the tide would turn sooner rather than later for the benefit of us all.

May God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,
Signed (ON BEHALF OF THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL)

Politics / Re: KOWA Party Press Release On The NGO Regulation Bill by KOWAnigeria: 3:03pm On Aug 29, 2016
Our attention has been drawn to
drawn to the NGO regulatory Bill which has passed through second reading in the House of Representatives. We wish to state that this bill with its content will hinder the rights to Freedom of Association and Freedom of Expression.
The creation of a commission (19-member board) is a duplication of the functions of existing agencies & waste of public funds. NGOs should not operate under the fear of government crippling their operations or subjected to approval by a Minister #NGORegulationBill. NGOs have seven (7) legal frameworks guiding their operations including their funding. The frameworks could be strengthened . Through CAMA, CAC regulates CSO/NGOs with the functionality that it has a register of NGOs in Nigeria. Part C of CAMA supports provision of annual returns filed to CAC with report of activities and audited financial reports. There are over 1.5m NGOs in the United States with no regulations such as these put forward by Hon. Umar Jubril.
A large civil society, independent of government control of direct influence is necessary for democracy to thrive. In circumstances where the government wields control over the activities of NON GOVERNMENTAL ORGANISATION, their independence to execute civil actions and carry out beneficial projects to people is eroded and in turn affects advocacy for good governance structure and better living standard.
This move sets the government on an unchallengeable path where NGO/CSOs only carry out activities in favour (sanctioned) of the government.
The Government should create an enabling environment for more NGO/CSOs to come in rather than discourage the few we have. There are many areas in need of more NGOs/CSOs. Advocacy is continuous and in a way help government make informed decisions.NGOs should be free to carry out activities w/o seeking approval or notifying any government agency about its activities, or outreach.

1. Good Afternoon Nigeria.

It is time to answer the question:

"What does KOWA mean?"

KOWA party was founded by a group of technocrats who wanted a change in the Nigerian political sphere. KOWA party was founded on the strong ideals of democracy and good governance.
KOWA party's ideology is primarily social Welfarism and Modernism.

Social welfare - the ideology that everyone deserves equal access to justice, education and healthcare.

Modernism-the philosophy that affirms the power of humans to reshape their environment with the aid of scientific knowledge.

KOWA is not an acronym but a word that can mean different things in different Nigerian languages.

In Hausa Language, KOWA means 'everybody'; meaning all of us are members.

In Yoruba, KOWA means 'let it come'; meaning let the good life come.

In Igbo, KOWA means 'explain'. That could also mean 'openness' and 'transparency'.

KOWA Party believes that a moral obligation is placed on public officers to commit themselves to a lifestyle marked by simplicity.
A country which scores abysmally low on almost every single development index must focus on infrastructural development and the provision of long-denied social services.

KOWA party believes that Nigerian youths play a huge role in the all round development of Nigeria so we welcome youths with our arms wide open.

KOWA party is open to people of all ages and tribe.

You are talking about another change when we are yet to survive this present change. Please KOWA in Igbo can best be described as "Describe". You talked about what the party means in three languages in Nigeria but am sure that there are at least two hundred tongues and tribes here. Following this thread and you will do well to update it with the ideals of the party as it entails every aspect of this nation. Thanks

"KOWA" means a lot of other things in other Nigerian Languages.

KOWA party was founded on the strong ideals of democracy and good governance with our ideology primarily being social Welfarism and Modernism.

Social welfare - the ideology that everyone deserves equal access to justice, education and healthcare.

Modernism - the philosophy that affirms the
power of human beings to positively create, improve
and reshape their environment with the aid of
practical experimentation, scientific
knowledge, or technology.

Politics / The Meaning Of "KOWA" - KOWA Party by KOWAnigeria: 5:11pm On Aug 28, 2016

Politics / Kowa Party's Press Statement On Zamfara Killings by KOWAnigeria: 3:42pm On Aug 23, 2016
PRESS STATEMENT ON ZAMFARA KILLINGS

Our condolences are with the people of Zamfara state and the families and loved ones of those who have been killed unjustly in the recent killings by some hoodlums who are hiding under the auspices of religion.

We condemn in the strongest terms the recent killings of innocent Nigerians by religious bigots who
have taken to barbarism to break the law and deny their fellow denizens in Zamfara state the fundamental right to life.

We state here categorically that the right to life, which is as sacrosanctly entrenched in Chapter 4 Section 33 of our constitution under the fundamental rights of citizens, of those who were killed in the act has been denied.

Such acts are not and should not be condoled by any persons or group of persons under any umbrella whatsoever in our society.

Acts like these are condemnable and should be taken seriously by our law enforcement agencies to ensure that the culprits are all brought to justice and made to suffer for their crimes.

It is high time a clear message is sent by the law enforcement agencies that these criminal acts will be severely punished and that culprits will be brought to justice and this clear message must as a matter of urgency be words backed with ACTION.

Just recently, the killings in Kano and Abuja of innocent Nigerians have not been meted with the justice that those individuals and their families deserve.

Previous cases of these kind of barbaric acts have been treated without urgency thereby prolonging the justice needed to communicate to intending criminals that such acts will be handled seriously.

The National Orientation Agency also needs to as a matter of urgency begin a program that is focused on religious intolerance and the laws of the land on those who think it necessary to deliver judgements on acts of blasphemy.

We cannot continue to live like barbarians and keep losing the lives and properties of innocent citizens in acts like this. Acts like this should NOT be tolerated and as much as we will not wish this act that has now turned into a recurrent act away, We need to back words with ACTION.

May God in his infinite mercies console those that have been bereaved and have lost properties and May God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Jude 'Feranmi

National Youth Leader,

Politics / KOWA Party Press Release On The NGO Regulation Bill by KOWAnigeria: 5:03pm On Aug 22, 2016
drawn to the NGO regulatory Bill which has passed through second reading in the House of Representatives.

Signed
Jude Feranmi,
National Youth Leader,
KOWA party.
