Infact, this is by all means a victory for the people! I'm in Ife (a student of OAU), and I can assure you the people are going mad with joy, In fact, I don't understand how leaders in Nigeria are comfortable enough to lead people who obviously don't buy into them. As for Maurice Iwu, if he had any honor - he should commit suicide! |
Methinks MTN should devote a whole section of their workforce to crawling the web and observing the widespread change in their brand perception. If they think that a lot of execs and business men do not spend time on internet forums, they should note that they have friends and family that do! I think that this is simpler than it looks on the surface. Cheaper rates will lure people into making more calls and spending more time online. Making recharge cards available in hundred naira denominations proved that. Many people I know buy so many N100 and N200 recharge cards that they end up spending more than the N750 or N1500 they initially thought they could not afford. In the end, because people will spend more time using these services, they will end up with the same levels of profit as now, if not more! I would never use an MTN browsing cheat, if only they had affordable pricing options; and by the way I no longer use the cheat! I do not intend this piece to be a very long one, but I will use enough words to communicate all the frustration I feel at the predatory organization in yellow, MTN Nigeria. I will start by advancing this proposition: MTN has the largest subscriber base in Nigeria today because they have the best brand image, not because they provide the best services. Think about that for a while, I do not think that I need to explain that any further. I understand that the crippling business environment that obtains in Nigeria is largely responsible for the disparity in rates applicable to callers in say, Nigeria and Ghana; but I also understand that MTN’s rates are astronomical relative to those of other telecomm operators in Nigeria! Read more, Consider for example MTN’s ‘new’ tariff package, MTN LINK. MTN is coming up with MTN-MTN rates of 50k per second and MTN-others rates of 58k per second, when users of the relatively new Etisalat can make calls to other networks for as low as 25k per second with a monthly rental of N300. Actually, this is a excerpt from a blog post about present day Nigeria, , You know the feeling you get when you cry alongside a hungry kid who hasn’t eaten in days, yet who refuses your money in an effort to save face for his parents? You know the feeling you get when you cry alongside a father who has stuffed his ego down the toilet seat as he asks you for a loan to fix his motorcycle, so he can go out and make some money for his family? You know the feeling you get when you cry alongside a sick 3-year old that cannot afford quality medical treatment, and whom you are almost powerless to help?, It's a great write up, and it is worth your time, So, follow the link: http://koyegbeke..com/2009/10/for-love-of-nigeria.html#more |
We got 6thou years of recorded history, sebi? In 6,000 years, not a single change of any kind has been noticed in any one animal, except for the few changes necessitated by different environments - which die out in successive generations! So what the 'ck? 'ck evolution! 'ck ardi! And if you wanna be down with ardi, 'ck you too! |
Quite recently, Hillary Clinton stated that it is up to Nigerians to make a better Nigeria. Barack Obama said the same thing in his speech in Ghana - even though he made the general form of the statement: the future of Africans is up to Africans. However, Nigerians tend to be quite complacent, and a lot of the time when things go wrong: all we do is talk, What is the issue, is it that the fear of MOPOL is now the beginning of wisdom? Read earlier today that Nigerians protested in China over the death of a Nigerian. How come thousands of Nigerians die in Nigeria, and nobody takes to the streets? |
Na me go die make you enjoy? Aba, we can not go far that way now!!! We need a change in mentality oh!!! |
From my point of view, Ghana is been lifted up as a model for the rest of West-Africa in particular, What do you think ![]() |
If you think Nigerians are complacent - then how? If you think we are cowards - then why? |
Below is an excerpt from an article on why Obama chose to visit Ghana first - over Nigeria. According to Obama, part of the reason why he is visiting Ghana first of all is that Ghana has conducted peaceful elections and seen peaceful power transitions in recent times. Remember that their last election generated quite close results, but the transition was still relatively uneventful. He also says that President Mills (the new president of Ghana) has shown himself committed to the rule of law, and to the kinds of democratic commitments that ensure stability in a country. He postulates that there is a strong correlation between governance and prosperity. In other words, countries that are well governed are prosperous! Ghana is well governed, that translates into prosperity. Did I hear someone say Nigeria IS the giant of Africa? You know, it follows that Obama, and the industrialized world in general, would love to see a lot more Ghana’s in Africa. Someone might argue that Ghana has a smaller population (23,382,848 people as at 2008) than Nigeria, and that we cannot model our political system after theirs. I contend that principles hold everywhere; the political system is no exception. If you plant beans in Nigeria, and you plant beans in Europe – you still get beans; not apples. Ghana might be smaller, but they are currently following principles that are guaranteed to make them into a developed country quite soon; and at the present rate – way before Nigeria. However, that will only continue if we refuse to take our places, and do our thing. Read more on this article at http://koyegbeke..com/2009/07/gnat-giant-of-africa.html, comments are welcome - as we need to know what you think. |
I argue that Nigerians are not the most happy people on earth, in fact - at times I think we are simply the most complacent people on earth. I believe that the average Nigerian does not take personal interest in an issue that does not concern himself or his immediate family; thank God change has come. In the battle for change in our political system, is it that Nigerians are too cowardly to carry the battle to the opposition, or that we are just complacent - and we really do not care as far as we can feed our own families What do you think?Read more at www.koyegbeke..com/2009/06/nigeria-lets-do-it.html |
Hey!!! Nothing is really hard. It depends on the spirit with which you approach it. Guess you now understand that .NET is just a platform and you have stuff like C#.NET, VB.NET. The choice you will make in the end really depends on what you want to do with what you are learning, cos some languages are better suited to some things than others. Find out what exactly you want to do, and find a language that is well suited to that kind of application. I write C#.NET, and I think its the best language since - man landed on the moon (my own opinion OH!!!). I have a friend who writes Java and he thinks that every other language is plain and simple English. So Make a choice. All the best. |
I am of the candid opinion that the only electoral reform we need is contained in the UWAIS report. I do not understand why in this age and time, the President still has the powers to pick the chairman of INEC. I believe that is wrong - cos I was brought up to see that the guy who pays the piper dictates the tune. This is Nigeria, and the average Nigerian politician will feel a need to repay whoever put him in that office - remember I said the AVERAGE Nigerian politician. I think the first step in the right direction is for the President to relinquish his powers to some other body and let them do the job of picking INEC's chairman. In summary, what INEC needs right now is more autonomy, not this rubbish effort, |
On the issue of the older generation disappointing the younger generation. The bible says for us to look up to Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith (Heb. 12:2) , Man is liable to fall and disappoint you at anytime, so at everytime you gotta make sure you looking up to Jesus, and not man. LOL. |
I am of the opinion that Pastor Adelaja is innocent until proven guilty. We do not need to spend precious time crucifying a man that may very soon be declared innocent as a baby. On the other hand, I guess we gotta beat back our being quick to jump to the conclusion that it is a Christian-Muslim beef issue. There is freedom of expression everywhere, and if Christians choose not to post stuff about muslims - I believe it is because they are being more mature, LOL. Time will tell. |
Like some person said above, armed robbers are now more noticeable in Ibadan because Fashola's reforms in Lagos are making it practically impossible for them to operate in Lagos. The best thing for Akala to do would be to take Oyo State personal, just like Fashola is doing Lagos. I would personally suggest that Akala be made Fashola's personal assistant for the next one year, maybe he will learn what it takes to position Oyo State in the right place for economic growth and development. Lets keep talking, at least thats the only thing I can do for now. |
Thats sad!!! |
