No matter how people criticize Naija's performance, the important thing is that we got a medal (a silver medal at that), something we haven't done in years! Siasia did an EXCELLENT job with the team, considering the fact that great Nigerian players such as Mikel Obi and Taiwo didn't even participate! People, stop criticizing their performance and instead congratulate them for reaching the finals and winning a medal! BIG UPS TO THE EAGLES! |
Congrats to Naija beating Ivory Coast 2-0. Let's all pray we beat Belgium next! Siasia has successfully proven that even without our key players (Mikel Obi, Taiwo, etc), the Eagles are still a solid team and he is an excellent coach! Big ups to the eagles and Siasia!

For all you iPhone users, what do you like most about it? What do you hate most about it? What do you wish it had? How well does it work with Naija networks? Have you seen the Chinese knockoff, the hiphone? Any experience with it? |
Ruby_Pearl:Actually, I just watched a couple of movies on my mac (OS X Leopard) using Opera, so it doesn't work with Window's IE only. She should download Opera for the mac and try it out. |
You can download the Opera browser and watch them there. I tried blocking the sites in Opera but the popup still came up. I wasn't able to watch it on the mac's Safari nor Firefox. |
Are you sick and tired of all the popups (especially toptvbytes) that bombard you when you try to watch a Naija movie at video.onlinenigeria.com, even with your popup blocker enabled? Well, the source of those ads is media.fastclick.net . If you block that site, the pestering popups won't show again. To block them (in internet explorer 7), click "Tools", then "Internet Options". In the "Security" tab, click "Restricted Sites", click "Sites", then add "media.fastclick.net" to the zone. Press "Close", then press "OK". Restart your browser, and enjoy a popup-free movie-watching experience. |
I'm glad to hear such good news coming out of Africa, instead of all the conflicts and diseases that are always reported by big media companies like CNN, BBC and co. The rest of the world has forgotten that Africa has some serious talents and innovative ideas. |
Koksy, one solution would be to either watch the movies during off-peak hours (late at night, early morning) or just watch them at http://my.afrovision.tv/movies.php, where you experience no network wahala and you enjoy high quality movies. |
My dear, you can also try http://my.afrovision.tv/movies.php. It doesn't have network issues like onlinenigeria, but it doesn't have as many movies. Enjoy. |
Another good site to watch Naija movies is http://my.afrovision.tv/movies.php. They have Naija, Ghana and other movies there, all free of course! The movies are good quality, and there are no network issues like onlinenigeria. However, there's only a handful of movies there. |
Er, where are the cars ![]() It looks like the upload folder is full. Admin abeg do something, as I can't upload images too. |
For the record, this is one of the best car posts I've seen on this site. Each picture shows every angle of the car. Most other posts show parts of the car, but not the whole body. On top of that, you listed the features and specs. Good job, Midas02. Other posters should learn from you. If I was car shopping, I would buy your car AT FULL PRICE (might include some jara sef) just because of the presentation! Nice car, by the way! |
Ladies, do you think a man needs a woman? Do you feel a man can do without a woman? What of vice versa? Does a woman need a man? Is it essential for you to have a man in your life? Same question for the guys. ![]() |
Why is it called "End of Discussion" sef? Where is "Beginning of Discussion"? |
Improve the sound quality of movies. The background noise shouldn't be as loud as (or even louder than) the actors' voices. Finished movies should be REVIEWED before selling to the public. A lot of Naija movies have horrible sound quality, it makes me wonder if the directors, producers, editors, etc actually watched their movies before selling. With all the background noise, the actors might as well be using sign language. When someone drives out of a parking lot or driveway or something, cameraman should stop showing all around the car, following it all the way onto the street. That's a waste of time. I mean, as a viewer, we get the point that the person is driving out. In a lot of Naija movies, I can see the microphone hanging above. They should conceal it more, or use directional mics. Enough of movies where the only way to become a millionaire is to be in a cult! How about a movie where someone became a millionaire by investing in real estate, or owning a successful business, or winning the lottery! When people are eating, cameraman should not zoom into the food (at least for a long time), unless there is a reason for doing so. In dance club scenes, there's no need to show every single person in the club! As mentioned above, there's no need to split a movie into several multiple parts. Might as well turn it into a mini-series. In Naija movies, why do parents call their children "my son" or "my daughter"? I don't know any mother that calls her daughter and says "my daughter, go and get me something, ". Don't they normally call them by name, instead of "my son" or "my daughter"?

I want to see more comedies. There's way too many drama and romance movies (99% with the same story line), but not enough comedies. I would also like to see science fiction and suspense/thriller movies. I wonder what a Naija sci-fi movie would look like - flying okada motorcycles, 419 in space, interesting! |
You get better precision (hence better fuel economy and greater acceleration) with manual transmission. The main advantage of automatic transmission is the convenience and ease of use. Learners are highly recommended to learn driving cars with manual transmission, because if you can drive manual, you can easily drive automatic, but not the other way round. |
What a pity indeed!! The world just lost the most beautiful politician! May her pretty soul rest in perfect peace. |
I know it sounds disgusting and immoral, but have you ever been attractive to your sibling? Your cousin? Some other relative? I was flipping channels and came across an episode of Jerry Springer where this guy fell in love with his sister (and wanted to marry her sef!). So has anyone ever felt romantically attracted to a relative?

Have you heard about Talkster (www.talkster.com)? It's a site where you can make free calls to any phone worldwide. However, Nigeria is not one of the supported countries. The site has a section for suggesting which country to include, so let us pressure them to include Nigeria. Here is the Country Request form http://www.talkster.com/RequestCountry.aspx Abeg tell all your friends about it and have them submit the form so that they can include Naija and we can all enjoy free worldwide calls! |
You can do a VIN check by typing the VIN number in google and searching. The first (and only, in most cases) result will take you to the CARFAX report on the car. Although as mentioned, you'll have to pay to get a detailed history. HOpe this helps. |
And to think that US president Bush is visiting Nigeria next month (January 2008). YarAdua should take him on a tour of Lagos (and other dilapidated cities). Hey folks, at this rate, what do you think Nigeria will be like in 10 years time? 20 years time? 50 years time?

It looks like we're supposed to close our eyes and imagine the 2003 Bora for N815k. Almost like someone knocking on your door and asking you to give him N1million so that he'll tell you a secret. |
[li]Change the oil every 5000 km or so.[/li] [li]Flush the transmission fluid every couple of years or so.[/li] [li]Most modern (late 90s and beyond) cars don't need to have their battery fluid checked and stuff, so don't bother.[/li] [li]Wash the car & vacuum the interior at least once a week[/li] [li]Check the type pressures about every 2 weeks, depending on your driving habits.[/li]
Do those frequently, and your car will still look and drive like new many years from now! Anyone can feel free to add to those tips! |

I think you should go for networking. Software changes all the time (so do their requirements), so you might be real good at developing a particular software today, but tomorrow your skills go become extinct. I mastered Visual Basic 6 years ago, but no one uses them these days, since everyone's going .NET crazy. Networking involves communication amongst computers (and other devices). That concept never changes - the way they communicate may change, but the concept remains the same. It's easier to master and catch up to changes in network technology than to catch up to constantly changing software development standards. But if you still want to do software engineering, then you should check out web application development (building software that runs on the web), since they are more popular because of being platform independent (runs on any web browser on any operating system). This is my own opinion o, just to clarify. Just something to think about in deciding which way to go. Hope this helps. |
