Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by Kris28: 3:01am On Sep 20, 2020
Gurus, please help!

I got my first PCC that expired due to the lockdown. Now I just got a new one and discovered that there is a slight error in the year my passsport was issued. for example, the date of issue was 12/02/19, but the new one has 12/2/14, putting '4' instead of a '9'. I was about submitting my documents because my biometrics is few days time when I noticed the error.
Although I immediately communicated with the person who helped me in Lagos ( As I'm faraway and had earlier used a courier service), He said I should simply get a place where typewriter is used and he would tell them how to correct the error and change the 4 to 9.

I only have this new week to submit my documents and the PCC is the only pending one.

Please I really need an urgent help and advice on what can be done, as I don't want to take a suggestion that will affect me.

Thanks

good afternoon everyone
candycrush, please, I have a question for you
I want to start my UK journey but I am not sure which IELTS to write. I heard nurses no longer need to write IELTS ukvi academic as long as they have IELTS academic or any other accepted English test. my question is how true is this?. I want to register for IELTS academic because I can take the test in my state and it is somehow cheaper. it I take IELTS academic, can I use it for visa immigration too or I will still have to write IELTS UKVI academic again..

thanks

Academic version of the IELTS test is what you need. Either BC or IDP/MOD. UKVI IELTS no longer a necessity.

Though I was not born by then, I heard Africans those days used to love each other and care for one another

We have heard cases where community gather to sponsor bright student from their community abroad.

African community are built to care for ones nuclear and extended families that is how we are, the issue is this Western economic system we operate that does not allow wealth go round.

There is no doubt that present Africans are filled with envy I don't think it's how it used to be before

Been an African, especially a Nigerian is very challenging. The journey hasn't been smooth at all if not for God. I can't wait to gain my independence from this country. I hope to get that soon by God's grace. Amen.

Hello all I have been following the thread keenly and I must say I'm impressed by the many efforts y'all put to share this vital information with us thank you.
However, I'm a radiographer I have searched nairaland for a thread to help me but all to no avail.
I will be very glad if someone can shed some light my way towards the process of getting a job in the Uk.
Thanks in anticipation

Don't know if this could be useful, I copied it as a response to similar question in another thread.

"most have answered...
1. It all depends on your desires and aspirations. What is good for the gander might not be for the goose. The UK is great but not great for everyone.
2. Getting a job with a Bachelors in Radiography is quite easy if you follow the process. First gain experience, acquire the required licenses, evaluate your certificates with NARIC and apply for jobs. Note: Don't take your research projects here in Nigeria for granted... They go a long way way in showing your experience. Another tip; specialize!!! Maybe in Mammo or something more critical. This have helped plenty of your colleagues I know get jobs with full sponsorships from Nigeria.
3. Get the job and tier 2 visa first. You would definitely manage wherever you find yourself.
4. To everyman his stomach. You want to live the LA Vida loca life in a foreign land? Just remember you would grow old some day.
5. Your choices would determine that.
6. Sure. As an addendum; I hear if your land a good centre, a refresher courses fully paid for by your centre can be added perk.
Note: You can have it if you really want. Just put in the work and try. There can be obstacles but then what value would it have if there are no trials?"

Living cost of Portsmouth is not as expensive as London. Is a safe area to live. During Summer, you can enjoy the nice seaside. If you think of commuting from Portsmouth to London then the cost is much. You can be a Pompey fan.

Thank you!
That's helpful.

You mixed up so many variables in one question. Everything is relative. What is your idea of ‘expensive’?
Accomodation May be cheaper in Portsmouth than on London.
‘Not too safe’ is very very subjective.
There are areas in Maiduguri that are safer than some areas in Lagos.

Thanks for your contribution.

Please someone experienced should help me. How is Portsmouth in terms of cost of living and housing as I got an offer there and I need to accept or not? I'm confused about what I'm getting online.

Learnt that it's an expensive place( like London) and not too safe to live in as compared to other areas like Birmingham.

Any idea would be appreciated, thanks.

What's happening in the UK?
The number of Covid-19 cases is over 73000 and just less than 350 has recovered. Similarly in Ireland.

If their approach is not working, they should be flexible and seek help from countries with high recovery rate like Germany.

Just wondering if they are really concerned about this disturbing trend!

Of course I'm bothered.

Do I need to contact NMCN at this stage? Please advice

I doubt if you would have to, except if it's delayed.

Since NMC UK has requested on your behalf, NMCN would deem it fit to give an adequate response.

For a nurse processing UK, which of the IELTS is required, UKVI or ACADEMIC IELTS ( British council)

please I need to know ASAP
Thanks

Academic version of the IELTS is all you need. Either British Council or IDP/MOD.

UKVI is not a necessity anymore.

Dear all,
Please how long does it take NMC to reach out to Nursing and midwifery council for verification with this online process?
@Adayoung, @Kris28.......any answers?

NMC UK has no issue at all. They reach out to NMCN almost immediately.
Login to your NMC profile to see if council verification has been indicated as *requested*

The only thing is that NMCN will not send a notification whether they got any mail. However, NMC UK is prompt enough, and you can also reach them through a phone call or an email to verify if a mail has been sent.

Transcript is not needed in the new process if you are already registered with NMCN.

I think I agree. I got ATT already without transcript. Although not too sure if it will be needed later.

Yes you can but it will cost you more. My advice, if you are yet to do your medicals, why not do the both together and save cost?

Alright, thanks.
I think you have a good point.
I will consider it.

Please I have an urgent question.

As I'm not staying close to Lagos, is it a must to get PCC from Lagos State or I can try the state headquarters of where I reside?

Thanks

I guess the recent changes by NMC UK is affecting them. People have several complaints lately.

Schimez:
Good day house, I have been waiting for up to 9 weeks to get the decision letter from NMCN. I don't know what the problem is with the council, is there anyone in my shoes or can offer me a friendly advice? I will be most grateful.

It's for a nurse intending to go to UK.
