POLITICS OF THE MOUTH DEGRADING NIGERIA EVER SINCE

by KAYODE OLUWASEUN DAVID

Bad and good people want to become leaders in our country. Everyone is desperate for power; even the good ones want to get there by any means. Taking a look at the state of the nation, one can finally deduce that the ratio of good leaders to bad leaders that have ruled us would be around 1:9. A degrading Nigeria has been effectively achieved in every democratic dispense. Every term of leaders has its own bad sides always greater than their good side which has been placing Nigeria on a pedestrian of underdevelopment and retarded growth. A country blessed with immeasurable resources and landscape, one which is envied in other part of the world is on daily basis ending up as a shadow of its real self. Nigerians end up getting hurt emotionally, physically, spiritually, socially, etc. anytime their only power which is their vote goes down the drain, and their hard earned money in form of their taxes are used to empower the powerful in purchase of armored vehicles, flying jets, mansions abroad; and also used by the powerful to fight against the weak. We are always at the receiving end anytime we perform our civic duties of voting and paying taxes. How Ironic?

Now, going into the main point of this article, politicians possess different ideologies of politics. So many agendas, propagandas, etc. are always employed during election and after election to win the hearts of the people. Taking a look at the trend of reigning ideologies, there was a time when political thuggery was on the high side, snatching of ballot boxes was the order of election, duplicating of ballot papers were the effective means of getting the seat. I don’t say these things don’t happen anymore, but all am saying is that it is no more a reigning trend. This now drives down to the reigning political ideology which I tag as “POLITICS OF THE MOUTH”.

Politics of the mouth is a safe way of winning elections deceitfully. Why it is called politics of the mouth is because the mouth is the major tool used in getting power without having to shed blood, or steal ballot boxes, or committing any offence that can land you in an election appeal court. In this article, I am going to point out only two (2) ways out of many in which the mouth can help in winning elections.

Firstly, on the part of the electorates, poverty is a generic feature of this country. I once heard a boy said, ‘’I am a street hawker, I live on what I make, and I do this when my mates are in school studying”. So many Nigerians find it hard to afford a square READ MORE AT:

DIARY OF A FUNAABITE- PART 5 (The rigors of Osiele Market)

A lot of people are actually waiting for the next episode of "my love life series", but I have decided to stop it because I can no longer drag much more people into this issue. This is because, of a truth this diary won't finish if I continue with that series as I can't really categorically tell you that this is the amount of girls have dated in FUNAAB in just 3 years and 6 months of ASUU strike. Well, to God be all the glory, I am alive to tell the tale.

Osiele market of every 5 days has been my source of provisions anytime I am in school, with just N3000 I can boast of some rice, garri, and beans, with kulikuli (garri's complementary good), etc.

Iya Nimota has been like a second mother to me, though she collects money (attimes) but she trusts me so much that she allows me to measure my congo of rice, beans, and garri myself without monitoring. I think this is because Nimota likes me, and as a sharp guy who knows dating Nimota can actually open another stream of constant foodstuff. I asked Nimota out, and not only did she say YES, her mom even told me YES. It’s not easy to be an accounting student from FUNAAB. That alone has given me direct access.

Nimota has always wanted to visit me in school, but I always posted her. No o, I can’t afford to bring such a girl that has zebra crossing on her cheek to school with me ooo. Her makeup is something out of this world, she is a black girl and her best lipstick colour is purple, and it always make her look like a ribena bottle. Worst of all, she has this habit that I can’t stand, Nimota use to scratch her bom-bom like its recharge card. She really can’t come visit me.

One day, I was on my way to A101 for ACC201 lecture, then at the Mancot park beside the library I heard ...read more at: https://www.humanrefinery./2014/12/27/diary-of-a-funaabite-part-5-the-rigors-of-osiele-market/

DIARY OF A FUNAABITE – PART 4 (Continuation of MY LOVE LIFE SERIES)
by Kayode Oluwaseun David

The following weeks had me fantasizing about this angel and her eyes that made me tripped, to the bbextent that I never had a choice than to fall for her, wait! I never fell for her; instead she made me rise in love with her, oh! What a girl, can you see that uniqueness?

I never realized I am in love until a night I escorted Fola to see her in front of the female hall. The unimaginable happened that day, I couldn’t take my eyes off her, and I didn’t say a word to her. I don’t think she noticed, because if she did, she would be really embarrassed, and maybe forced to take it out on me.

INTERMISSION
Courage was never far from me when it comes to asking a girl out. But I must really confess in this write-up that asking Busola out was equivalent to “mission restore peace in Afghanistan” it was really hectic. I did most of the talks on this social networking app called 2go, this app has being really helpful in the confession of my feelings to Busola. Both day and night when we chat, there’s no other topic than, “I love you Busola, and there’s nothing more I want than us being together in a relationship” each time I tell her this, I always get NO for an answer, but still I had the hope, I never gave up. Every day, I have no other thought than Busola. I wanted her, I knew it.
She’s the reason I love being in school. She is my sunshine because every morning she shines into my life, and burning through my heart. And every day I go to bed with this thought that if I can ever have Busola to myself, I would be the happiest guy in the universe.

Fortunately, she agreed to my proposal, but unfortunately, I only had her for a week and some days. Yea, I know what you thinking, how is that? Well, it happens when you are in this situation of awe and in shock that you don’t know how the hell that happened. After the few days of being HIS ROYAL MAJESTY Aloba, I was dropped, and I started experiencing this hell of a life. The night before Busola agreed to my proposal, we chatted overnight. I can still remember we chatted from 7pm till 6am the next morning; we even had morning devotion on 2go. Romantic, isn’t it? Yea, it is. She gave me the YES I always longed for, but on a condition....READ MORE AT www.humanrefinery./2014/11/21/diary-of-a-funaabite-part-4-my-love-life-series/

DIARY OF A FUNAABITE – PART 3 (MY LOVE LIFE SERIES)
By Kayode Oluwaseun David

I guess it was a Saturday afternoon. Oh, I know it’s a Saturday afternoon, came back from church and I just wanted to chill out somewhere, but the problem is where I should.

The previous night was like bad, because I broke a golden heart, Suliat’s that is. I was feeling bad not because I lose her, but because she was feeling bad. I had no choice than to call it quits, because I thought it over and over and came to that vital conclusion that the relationship was not worth it; there was no future for us. Suliat was a chronic Muslim and I was a very good Christian. Yea, you would ask, “Why did I get into it in the first place?” the truth is you would get offended, because I would take that question as rhetorical. Suliat was sweet, caring and loving, I can’t deny that fact. But, the thing is why take it longer when it’s never going to last, so I became the man and called it off.

That Saturday afternoon delivered me a pack of goodies wrapped up in a dirty polythene bag. Hahaha! You asking if this guy has gone crazy, oh yea, you are right! Because you won’t be reading this if I am not crazily in love. Wait, with whom? Read more and you would find out.

“Aloba, will you go with us to the female hostel?” That was what I heard from my bunkmate when I was lying down pretending to be asleep. That sounded like the best idea at the moment. On a normal ground I don’t do female hostels that much, but that day was exceptional, I had nothing doing and I have to get Suliat past me. So I didn’t hesitate to voice out my approval. Dressed up in a rush that I even forgot to use my waste belt, and all I did through the walk was to help myself by pulling up my trousers. Embarrassing though, I still got to the female hostel that way. Our stroll along the passages in the female hall of residence was fascinating because I have to see my female departmental mates in a different way. It was different from the usual pan caked, powdered face combined with 20 kinds of perfumes that I use to see and smell at class every blessed day. I get to see that the ones that made us say, “One night is enough for me” weren’t really worth staying an hour with. I also noticed some beauties that I don’t even take note of in class because they don’t do what the others do. Hmmmmm, irony of life.

DIARY OF A FUNAABITE - PART 2 (MY CARROT BOXERS)
By Kayode Oluwaseun David

As a new student in FUNAAB, you are called all sort of names ranging from fresher to JJC to zombie, etc. well, my case was different, I was a new student in a new college. A college that was entirely different, and was a shift from the main scientific nature of the school. I was at the College of Management Sciences (COLMAS), apparently the best college in the school…lol… I am so sure only COLMASSITES would agree with me on this, others would be like, “college wey never get graduates”. Whatever, I am a colmassite, and am proud to be one.

Straight to the business of this episode, you know as a new student of a university, you have to upgrade. You have to add swagger to your ginger. You don’t want to go back home with the same clothes you resumed to the school with. Infact, you wouldn’t want to wear those post-secondary schools clothes to lectures at the university.

My mom after being fed up with my crying everyday, went to the market to get me some clothes, after I told her that FUNAAB’s official uniform on Wednesday and Fridays is jeans.  In order for her son not to beg, steal or even look down on himself, my mom hustled some money and she got me three jeans trousers (okirika ofcourse with that special scent).
When she gave me the jeans, I could feel the excitement in her, her face glowed with smiles of fulfillments. Oh yes, she has accomplished something, atleast her son can now wear jeans like other guys are wearing. Wow! my mom has just successfully gotten me the jeans that 2face used in his first video with the plantashun boiz. Those jeans can be dated back a century, when I tried it out I felt like I was being put in a sack that has an elastic mouth. Yeah, it is a wide jean.

I told her “thank you” out of dissatisfaction. I stuffed the jeans inside my bag, first of all I can’t even bear the scent of the jeans, and secondly I have just being made the proud owner of a 1997 designer.

I never knew the stigmatization associated with those jeans until we resumed school. The first day I wore one of those jeans, OMG! I totally felt like an alien, like I was not ....read more at

PoliticsGen Muhammadu Buhari And His Game Of Politics by KUDZ(op): 9:35pm On Oct 26, 2014
Gen Muhammad Buhari said he doesn't have money to purchase the APC's Presidential Primaries form. Then Timipre Sylva the former governor of Bayelsa state gave him the 27million naira for purchase of the form.

QUESTION FOR THE DAY
1. Don't you think Buhari is playing politics by saying that he doesn't have that amount of money, considering the fact that he has once being the Head of State of this country and as a result of that, he is still entitled to some salary from the government which we all know how much that can amount to?

2. Is having Timipre Sylva, the former governor of Bayelsa state, Good luck Ebele Jonathan's Home land, purchasing the form for Buhari not a political game?

3. Don't you think APC that preaches political holiness is actually offering the lamb of corruption by placing such huge amount of money as the price of the presidential primaries form?

Getting to write University of Agriculture Abeokuta (UNAAB) now Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB)’s post UTME in 2011 was merely as a result of “I must get into school this year by force by fire”. Well, you don’t need to know my real name, but I am popularly known throughout campus as “Aloba”. Yes, I know you would be wondering who the hell is Aloba? The thing is if you don’t know me, then you know nothing in FUNAAB.

My dad saw the advert in a punch newspaper that stated that FUNAAB has started offering Management courses-accounting, banking and finance, economics, business enterprise management, and entrepreneurial studies. So, FUNAAB invites all suitable candidates that has written UTME that year and has scored 180 and above to apply for these courses, even though they haven’t chosen the school in their UTME registration. Then, my dad brought the newspaper home from work on Monday. I didn’t get to see the advert until Wednesday when I was checking through the papers out of boredom, since the only job without salary that I do every day is just sitting down at home and watch galaxy television. You know what we jambites face. Galaxy television is the only TV station that our TV can reach, because of its ancient state, maybe its expiring. I watched galaxy television to the extent that I can recite word for word the various soap opera advertisements shown.

When I saw the advert, I was interested but with a high degree of skepticism. I began to wonder who and what is FUNAAB. I haven’t for once heard of that school before. As far as universities are concerned in Nigeria, I know UNILAG, OAU, UI, UNILORIN, FUTA, COVENANT UNIVERSITY, OOU, UNAD, FUTA, and some others, but UNAAB mba. If they didn’t write the name of the, continue reading at:

PoliticsNIGERIA @ 54 by KUDZ(op): 1:19pm On Oct 02, 2014
NIGERIA @54

Yeah, you would definitely say this boy is back again. You would definitely be of the opinion that Kayode David Oluwaseun K-udz should just shut up and get something doing, instead of coming every year to publish independence messages. Oh Yeah!!.

Well, its another October 1st, another birthday of Nigeria, my country, your country, OUR country. We have survived well as one indivisible country. That is worth thanking God for.

Hmmmn, the journey so far to say the truth has being rough, it hasn't been smooth at all, I wouldn't say much about that because I am trying to make this as concise as possible. But, we sure do know everything happening in this country presently, we know the travails and ups/downs we are encountering. Well, Nigeria is a country where the masses work for the rich to eat. It is a country where the monkeys(non-ebola infected) keep suffering and the baboons keeps on gyrating in the proceeds. Would we say the reason why all of this is happening is that the colonialists who created this country created it for business purposes and not because we all want to be together??

Every month, tax clearances are issued to workers as evidence of making tax payments. I would ask people, "are you happy paying taxes?" and they would answer with a big, "NO!!". A country where its citizens are not happy to be citizens.

Well, courage is the word. We have inborn leaders who were born and they went to the grave with their God-given gifts to lead this nation just because they were unable to stand up and take charge. No one is ready to stand and face those tyrants in government houses. Well, how would I blame them, when political parties in Nigeria priced their Nominations and Expression of interests forms for as high as a whooping N27,000,000. So, tell me, where would the common man who can be the president of Nigeria, or the youth who can cause giant strides in leadership roles get to see that kind of moneyhuh

Well, its already a done deal, only those who have stolen money from the government's purse can pour that kind of amount willingly in order for them to steal more...

They say misery doesn't only kills the body, it kills the spirit also. We cant afford to be miserable anymore. We just have to make it physical, and not only through social media and through grumblings and complains. Lets take it out against them through rallies, campaigns, protests, and through contesting leadership offices. If you can be a leader, then why don't you try out. Sometimes for you to effect a CHANGE, you need POWER!

Finally, I celebrate my country Nigeria at 54 and I am ready to make it a Nation that it is meant to be. I am ready to take it upon myself to make Nigeria a better place for me and you. Are you ready toohuh

PoliticsThe Place Of Youth In Today's Leadership by KUDZ(op): 12:54pm On Sep 17, 2014
THE PLACE OF THE YOUTH IN TODAY'S LEADERSHIP

Okay, where's the place that we occupy today in leadership? Its either we are made SSA to the President on Student affairs, a position occupied by a youth claiming to be a student in a school that cannot be traced, or we are the President of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and we would end up conferring regrettable and shameless awards on the so-called old and corrupt leaders that are seemingly deaf to the youth's cries and pleas, we can also be employed by these big and pot-bellied politicians who use our brains, sweat, and blood to achieve their aim of turning this Nation upside down.

Everyday the call is made to leadership in this country. Everyday youths keep falling at the sight of compromises. It starts with all little positions we occupy, even as small as a councillorship of a ward in a local government. So many youths have gotten it wrong from the barest minimum and that's why they would end up pot-bellied and agbada-wearing thieves.

Yesterday's election saw these set of old people, today's election still features these same celebrity's as cast in the 2015 Election movie. Some of them are still even looking forward to star in 2019 election.

When would they die??
When would they leave this country to develop??
When would they pass on the mantle to the YOUTHS??

My brother in Unionism Opaleye Bobby Zamora said and I quote,

"The Myriads of challenges against young leaders of today is overwhelming. There's actually no political hope for the youths in today's political equation unless we want to delude ourselves..The Youth's electoral value has been relegated to only political thuggery and for mobilisation only during elections"

That is well-said by him. Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Ernest Okoli have made positive leadership a possibility even as a youth. We can't remain like this anymore.

This is our call!
Nigeria Youths ARISE!!
LETS MAKE A CHANGE HAPPEN!!
A GREAT NIGERIA I ENVISAGE..........
