Dear Student,

Please find below and embedded (attached) a very important information on your programme. Please read carefully.

This is a quick one to give an update on your programme. It is important for you to advise your friends or mates who have been indifferent to messages in respect of their programmes. This is important because of lack of understanding on procedure and processes as evidenced in the social media pertaining to their studies.  It is also important to ask that you configure your mobile phones to receive appropriate messages from the Centre. Please note the following vital information:

1.       Extension of Registration and administration of CA:  As a result of a meeting with a cross section of students, the deadline for registration is now 31 July, 2016 with the commitment that there will be no further extension whatever may be the case. This will definitely affect the commencement of the Continuous Assessment (CA) for 300 -500 level students which will now start from August 1, 2016.The CA for Fresh students and students having ‘carry – over’ in 100 and 200 level courses are going to start their CA on 22 July, 2016. The practice sessions on the CA platform will commence on Friday, 15 June, 2016.

2.       Interactive Session for 400 and 500 level students at the Lagos Centre: Obviously, the 3-daySallah holiday requires the re-scheduling of some of the classes during the holiday period. In view of these, the Centre is rescheduling the missed sessions. Affected students will be contacted on the new schedule.

3.       Extra- units: Some students have requested for extra-units for different reasons but it should be noted that extra-units is not an entitlement and can only be granted in certain situations within prescribed limit. In view of the situation with some of our students, there is compelling need to allow some FINAL YEAR STUDENTS to exceed approved limits. Consequently, the Board of Examiners of the Centre has decided that final year students should be allowed to register not more than 10 units in addition to the current registration.’

4.       Change of course/Department: there have been many complaints of delay in effecting requests relating to change from one Department to the other. It has to be noted that this is not automatic and there is the need for background check on entry qualifications of applicants.

5.       Add and Delete: There will be opportunity to add and delete after the close of registration.

6.       Submission of Final Year projects: Final year students are advised to submit their projects so that their results can be computed ahead of graduation in November. It is important that the soft copy of the projects be sent to designated email account for each department apart from the hard/bound copies and CD to the Department.

7.       Complaints: Let me assure you that the complaints on varying issues are being addressed. However, it is important for individuals to take responsibility for their study by availing themselves with readily available information. While some complaints are genuine, there are many that were due to lack of information. Some students who suspended their studies will need help to re-activate more so if they never suspended their study officially.

8.       Sale of hard copies of course materials: This is to inform you that, hard copies of some recently updated course materials that are consistent with ODL format are available for sale at reasonable prices. Copies will be available at both Ibadan and Lagos Centres from Monday, 18 July, 2016.

9.       Calendar:  It is important to reiterate our commitment to the Calendar as published. The adjustments with be minimal. However, your cooperation and cooperation will be appreciated.

10.   Student Handbook: The latest and current version of Student Handbook will be uploaded on Monday, 18 July, 2014. Please, read about all you need to know about DLC and its operations.
