Romance › Re: In My Current Relationship, my guy and I retaliate a lot by kumbhuru: 8:13pm On Jul 24, 2024 |
MeghaneMorgane: I’m currently in a relationship where both my guy and I are very petty. If my guy does something I don’t like, I tell him the first time, if he does the same thing the second time, I don’t talk too much and I just give him the exact taste of the same medicine. It works every time and he adjusts immediately. Same for him when he tells me he doesn’t like something if I don’t adjust, he will give me the exact taste of my medicine. So far, it’s been working for both of us because we both adjust accordingly. My question is that I hope this petty behaviour from my guy and I is not a toxic one? If it is not toxic that’s good. But at what point does this behaviour become toxic? NB: So far, this petty behaviour has been working well for the both of us.
I’ll give an example of our petty behaviour. My boyfriend went to visit his mum. 24 hours after being at his mum’s place, he didn’t pick my call and he didn’t call me either, and he didn’t respond to the numerous messages I left on his phone. I was so worried, I had to call his mum and told his mum to give him the phone. His mum gave him the phone. His mum also confirmed to me that my boyfriend had arrived 24 hours before I called her so it wasn’t a case of him playing games with me. Obviously I was very angry and I asked him why he wasn’t picking my calls. His response was that he is busy. That he will call me when he is done with the job he was doing. I said ok. I didn’t call him again until he called me. He called me a day and half after speaking with him on his mum’s phone. All the while I was lamenting to his mum how her son has refused to call me or pick my calls. His mum kept consoling me that he will call me immediately he finished what was doing. Guess what?, when I went to visit my own parents, I did exactly the same thing to him. He was so angry. Since then he hasn’t tried that rubbish again. Then we had to promise each other to always pick each other’s call even if we are very busy. Since then we’ve been picking each other’s calls. Make una Bleep off |

BlindAngel: I'm the one paying the bills of course, yesterday I was angry and told her to buy all the maltina and meat pie then she can call her pastor to officiate the naming. She went silent and started calling me wicked, and heartless. I spent almost 400k on her CS spent 73k on the naming but it's time to make a decision and she want to make it.
During our marriage, her mother refused to appear in the church because I said I won't do court marriage, I saw it on my wife chat with her elder sister, she said her mom said she won't come because I'm thinking rubbish by not doing court marriage. And truly she didn't come. You are in deep shit. You aren't sexually attracted to her but impregnated her. Smh |

kumbhuru: Is UK a good place to live as a nurse? My main aim is USA but the process is long and I need to run out of Nigeria as fast as possible before I start having wife and children Lmao, see me asking an "inane" question(according to some people on this group) some 11 months ago I didn't even have a passport and was so lost even with all the information I had back then. Thank God for progress |

Education › Re: IELTS: Share Your Experience, Ask Your Questions, Tell Us Your Score If You Can. by kumbhuru: 7:34am On Jul 13, 2024 |
kumbhuru: My result is out, and I achieved an overall band score of 7.5. Although I could have done better if I hadn't faced distractions towards the exam, this score is sufficient for my needs.
I started my preparation in August by reading everything from page 1 to the end of this group to familiarize myself with the recommended materials. I also read the testimonies of others on Nairaland by searching different threads.
For writing, start with everything on www.ieltsliz.com. Additionally, get the premium book from IELTS Buddy, which is available online for free. Practice with those resources and then move on to the past questions from Cambridge. If you don't have anyone to review your essays, use ChatGPT to mark, score, and correct your work. You can Google how to use ChatGPT for IELTS Writing.
For speaking and listening, you only need the Cambridge materials. Google or find YouTube videos with the speaking/listening audio books and practice with them. Record yourself while speaking and make corrections if you don't have a friend to practice with. Get accustomed to various accents by watching podcasts, although I didn't do this due to time constraints. Those used to watching foreign films typically won't have issues with understanding the listening section. Listening requires attention and presence of mind, so if you struggle with concentration, work on it. Constant practice will help. Speaking and listening should be bonuses; no one should fail these sections, as they help boost your overall band score.
Reading seems like a hard nut to crack due to time constraints. Practice with Cambridge materials. There are books on strategies for various question types available online; get one and stick to it. Practice by question type and master or create strategies for yourself. You don't need to time yourself while learning strategies; only start timing once you are familiar with all question types and strategies involved.
Visit these YouTube channels and immerse yourself in their content: FastTrack IELTS, IELTS Jack, E2 Preparation, and IELTS Liz.
In short, there are no shortcuts; you have to put in the work. It's better to use the money you would spend on tutorials to buy data and immerse yourself in YouTube. Many of these tutorial providers are simply looking to make money and have never taken the IELTS themselves, except for the trusted ones you may know.
IELTS is all about strategy and formula. Learn these, and you will be surprised at how well you can do.
Finally, if your English is weak in terms of spelling, grammar, and basic language skills, start there. Someone with poor spelling will struggle with listening and writing. Someone with poor lexis, structure, and basic English skills will find it challenging. It's not a bad idea to brush up on primary and secondary school materials before attempting the IELTS if you fall into this category. Wishing you success. |

bigtt76: Mistake a lot of people do again is omitting from their applications agencies they worked with on shifts etc. These guys just want someone here they can ask to confirm your suitability to work in their workplace environment. So if you worked shifts under Indeed Flex, you can mention the experience...it's your UK experience and you can't chunk it off, my take though. You are in UK? Beautiful. Will look for you |

tetralogyfallot: Pharmacy any day, anytime, anywhere bro. The reasons are as follows. 1. With just a pharmacy licence you can be smiling to the bank yearly when u stand as a surety to big pharmacy shops. 2. Pharmacy earns more money than every other medical profession in developed countries. 3. Its funny to call a guy a nurse cos it sounds feminine while pharmacist sounds more unisex. 4. Its easier to start a small pharmacy shop with a pharmacy degree than nursing center with a nursing degree. 5. Nurses are mostly treated with disdain by doctors while pharmacist are kings in their own fields. 6. Pharmacist have good working environment unlike nurses that see dirty things on a daily basis
5. Devilish advice. Thank God I no see am |

Warriorprince: You were only talking based on your experience......I know quite a few people who got band 6 from Nigeria, some where placed on the highest rung of band 5 while some where placed at the lowest. Though they will be at band 4 till their pin is out. And I have seen some who came in within 6months-1year got band 6....... nothing is actually impossible. Infact people have moved from band 5 to 7. Hello big man, I think I know you. Bless up. Band 5 to 7 is common. Band 6 after 6months is common so I don't understand their headache with 6 straight from Nigeria. I can count more than 10 with cos/visa for band 6 right now all gotten within the last few weeks. Even I would be placed on the highest scale of band 6 based on my experience (cv, how I performed in interview). This isn't show off but encouraging others who might come across this. I hate misinformation with passion. We are talking about people's future here. Many people would have been in the UK by now if they knew they could apply to band 6 but their IELTS, CBT results are rotting away. |

iyatrustee: General nursing? maybe but it will be difficult for psychiatric nurses. Most of who did not practice mental health before coming to take the job offer. Stop projecting. Before, you guys said general nursing band 6 straight from Nigeria is hard and Psychiatric nursing band 6 is ok, now it's the other way round. Nothing is impossible for a mind who is ready. Even If you were a professor before coming, you would be trained and go through preceptorship. Any diligent and smart person should cope afterwards. Whats the big deal they do?? Do you know the training and experience some of us went through in Nigeria? I think those of you saying this studied abroad so you're limited. Nigerian curriculum and work environment will grill you that you will cope anywhere. Wish people well and take chill pill. Other people's downfall won't help you in any way |

bigtt76: We like to limit ourselves sha .....nothing is impossible if you give it a try. They're so bold to discredit things. I felt so embarrassed reading that from her. Where is it written that you must start on band 5? If I had years of experience and maybe masters, I would even apply for band 7 even. You need to see how my employers are so pleased with the little experience I have it's a big deal to them but these ones have carried the Nigerian mentality of spending decades before you can aspire to be big. Someone even told me that whoever interviewed and gave me the band 6 is drunk because band 6 isn't meant for starters. This lady is a band 7 psych nurse herself o but so myopic. Until we decide to be open minded and explore possibilities, we won't grow. |

directonpc: you ask suspicious questions actually.
The only thing that will convince me you're not a bot or a troll is that you're an older person that don't use the internet to do stuff for yourself. You were asking about what flight to book. But at the same time, you don't know TLS contact, the agency that collects passports for visa application. Get away from my view, but purge yourself from the trauma you suffer from that makes others success gets on your nerves. Another thing that help me in life is being happy for others, and wishing them well. Showing others opportunities and referring them to it. Try it maybe, just maybe things will start taking shape in your life too. PS: I didn't bother reading the gibberish you spewed up there anyways. The headache is yours. #tonguesOut |

kumbhuru: Thank you. Don't be angry o. What's tlsconnect and vsfglobal? I'm just trying not to make mistakes Someone was saying I ask inane questions. I'm proud to say asking those seemingly stupid questions got me this far. Alot of people had their IELTS and CBT before me but haven't smelt 1 interview whereas, I reject interviews and offers at will. It's asking questions, being daring and bold in the face of uncertainty. Beyond the beef, anger , hatred, envy and whatnot, please pick this point of being bold and daring, asking those stupid questions. It would get you far. |
