A 35-year-old bricklayer, Friday Kanu, has been arrested by the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for allegedly having carnal knowledge of a minor. The suspect, it was learnt was arrested in Ilesha following complaints that he molested a nine-year-old pupil, and reportedly confessed to the crime while being interrogated.

The victim, it was gathered, was living with her sister, who is married to Friday, at Imadin, Ilesha, when the suspect first raped her.
On March 18, 2019, Friday was said to have taken advantage of his wife’s absence from home to rape the victim for the second time.

While being interrogated, the victim’s sister, Odunola #Ajayi, said she agreed to Friday’s marriage proposal after she lost her mother to stroke in 2016 and became homeless.She added that Friday’s behaviour became erratic after he sustained a head injury in an accident and he had to dispose of most of his belongings to raise money for medical treatment.

Friday, according to the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC in Osun State, Babawale #Afolabi, confessed to having raped the minor under the influence of alcohol.The NSCDC spokesperson stated that the victim was taken to the Wesley Hospital, Ilesha for medical attention.He said the corps would charge the suspect to court as soon as investigation was concluded.

Angered by the incessant killings in Zamfara and government's inaction, a mob executed a suspected bandit apprehended by members of the Civilan JTF.

The incident occurred in Shinkafi local government area of the stte, where about 40 persons were killed by armed bandits over the weekend.

An unidentified female student off her clothes after losing her senses on Saturday morning in Lagos.

According to a report by SaharaReporters, the fair-skinned lady is a student of a polytechnic in Nasarawa State.

According to eyewitnesses, the lady emerged from the Country Club area in Ikeja GRA, Lagos, and started talking to herself.

“Nobody suspected anything at first as she was merely just loafing about,” said one witness.

“However, as she walked down Joel Ogunnaike Street, she started dancing. Then she went to the refuse bin and started picking stuff from there and puting into her bag. At that point, a few of us started approaching her to see if all was well with her.

“Next thing we knew, she started removing her clothes, starting with her trousers. And that’s when we knew all was not well and we immediately surrounded her.

“Someone laid hands on her and started praying for her and she calmed down and we encouraged her to put on her clothes. We asked her a few questions, which she attempted to answer, but after a few minutes, it seemed she was starting to lose it again. So, we took her phone, which wasn’t locked, and went through it; one of us called the number identified as that of her brother.

“From what I gathered after the call was made, it was confirmed that she is a student of a polytechnic in Nasarawa. He also said we should please make sure she doesn’t get lost as he would start his journey to Lagos immediately.

“Afterwards, she was taken to a Police Station by some people.”

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a teacher of Fazir-I-Omar Senior High School in Iwaya, Yaba area of the state for allegedly forcing an 18-year-old pupil, Mary (not real name), to perform oral s-x on him for marks.

Mary, an Abia State indigene who resides in the Makoko area of Lagos, had narrated to Punch how she was first forced to give her teacher oral s-x at the age of 16 when she was in Senior Secondary School 1.

The victim, now in SSS 2, explained that on two different occasions, she succumbed to pressure and gave the teacher oral s-x.

She alleged that the teacher further demanded s-x if she ever wanted to graduate from the school with her classmates, but she refused.

Speaking with Punch on Friday, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, DSP Bala Elkana, confirmed the teacher had been arrested. Elkana identified the suspect as one Akintunde Ajayi, 39.

He said, “The teacher’s name is Akintunde Ajayi and he is 39. I must commend The PUNCH for the detailed report because the information provided therein has helped us.

“We moved into action when we read it. We have the said teacher in custody and we are making efforts to find out whether there are other victims in the school apart from the girl that raised the alarm.”

Elkana added that the police was working with other stakeholders to conduct in-depth investigations into the matter.

Meanwhile, a non-governmental organisation which campaigns against sexual abuse and violence on women, Jewels Hive Initiative, has called on the Lagos State Ministry of Education, the police and other authorities to ensure that justice prevailed in Mary’s situation.

JHI’s founder, Mrs Oluwatoyin Falaiye, said the organisation had rehabilitated the victim and would provide further assistance to her and her family.

Falaiye also demanded the Lagos State Ministry of Education to re-enroll the victim in another school in the state for her to be healed of her trauma.

A young man was allegedly stabbed by his girlfriend over a phone call in Rivers state

According to reports, the victim identified as Mr. Abeulah, a native of Delta but stays in Ogu/Bolo local government area of Rivers state, with his girlfriend named Miss Alice Peter, who is a native of Ogoni in Rivers.

It was gathered that Mr. Abeulah was said to be making a phone call when his girlfriend stormed the room and allegedly stabbed him in the eye. According to an eyewitness, the lady said her reason was that he (the victim) was calling another woman while she was still with him. The victim was rushed to a nearby pharmacy for urgent medical treatment.

The accused has been apprehended and the matter taken up by Bolo youth council.

A taxi driver was yesterday assaulted at Artillary junction, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for rejecting the bad Naira note given to him by a policeman.

The policeman in mofty was said to have given the driver a torn N50 after alighting, but he rejected it. .

The matter later degenerated into a shouting match, with the driver seizing one of the two bags of oranges the policeman was holding, prompting the officer to go into the car and start destroying things.

Some other policemen later joined in and started beating the driver. They eventually took things further by bursting his car tyre.

An attempted jungle justice was averted at Ahiaukwu Olokoro in Umuahia south local government area of Abia state on Monday, 25th March, 2019, when two alleged thieves were caught with stolen items.

The two suspects were beaten to stupor as youth leaders prevented the mob from taking laws into their hands.. .

One of the thieves was allegedly identified wearing stolen stone-wash Jean and other designers clothes.Interacting with newsmen , a businessman narrated his experience with the suspects and displayed a video where some security officers arrested them last week because of a robbery case. He revealed that the suspects have been robbing residents of Olokoro of their belongings almost on a daily basis. .

A woman who said she had been robbed by the suspects identified one of the them and was demanding they should be dealt with.
A community leader with the assistance of some youths took the suspects to a police station in Umuahia.

Residents of Okrika town in Rivers state, have raised an alarm after discovering the corpse of a woman floating in a river. According to reports, the woman’s body was found floating at the water areas of Ibuluya Ama Okrika, this morning. No one knows how she died but there are speculations that she might have drowned in the river. The corpse has been evacuated and the police notified of the incident.

In a viral video that recently surfaced online, shows a young boy would be probably regretting his action after he was publicly humiliated for stealing chickens. According to reports, the suspect was nabbed while attempting to flee with the chickens and was punished by those who caught him.

He was stripped totally naked as the stolen chickens were tied to his body and paraded in public.
Facebook user Bose Adamu who shared the picture of the suspect, criticized the method of stripping thieves naked in a bid to punish them.

Last year, a woman stole eight chickens at a market in Benin city, Edo state, before she was nabbed.
The angry mob decided to humiliate her in public as they stripped her naked and paraded her round the market to serve as a deterrent to others.

A newborn baby boy was snatched from the jaws of death, yesterday, at the Lagoon Plaza, Lagos Island, after his mom’s failed attempt to kill him few minutes after birth.

The lady had delivered the baby inside one of the public toilets inside the plaza and wrapped it up in her hijab before putting him inside a nylon bag, after her failed attempt to flush him down.

The bubble was, however, burst as blood was dripping down the nylon while she was taking her leave to go and dump him. .

She was promptly apprehended by some shop owners who then demanded to know the content of the bag, only to discover a bouncing baby boy inside.

She lady was said to have blamed her action on poverty and some money was contributed to her before being taken to Ile Agiri, a traditional clinic, alongside the baby.....

A 46-year-old Nigerian man who committed a series of sexual offences against young girls he groomed online, has been jailed in the U.K

Taiwo Benson, who is currently serving a 9-year prison sentence at HMP Littlehey, was sentenced to a further 2 years’ imprisonment at Kingston Crown Court on Friday, 15 March, after pleading guilty on 23 November 2018 to the following offences:

one count of causing a child aged 13 to 15 to watch/look at an image of sexual activity, two counts of an adult meeting a girl under 16 following sexual grooming, two counts of causing a child 13 to 15 to watch a sexual act.

Four counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15, one count of offender over 18 cause a child aged 13 to 15 to watch a sexual act, one count of offender 18 or over engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15.

The offences were committed between 1 January and 31 December 2015 against nine victims. Benson’s two-year prison sentence will be served, consecutively, to his existing jail term.

The court heard how Benson had previously been convicted and imprisoned for nine years for similar offences against four victims aged between 13 and 15.

Late last night at Oshodi area of Lagos state, a trailer in motion lost control and ran into Rapid Response Squad (RRS) riders stationed on the bridge.

Luckily the officers jumped right out of the scene but their bikes and gears got damaged beyond repairs.

The quest to make quick cash has landed a young man in trouble in Edo state, after he was nabbed with female panties which he stole and planned to sell before his capture

The suspect who claims he hails from Warri, Delta state, was apprehended yesterday by residents in Igarra Akoko area of Edo.

During an interrogation by the residents, the young man confessed that he was told by a man to look for panties which he would sell to him for a fee of N300K.

He stole some panties successfully but was caught before he handed them over to the person who sent him on the illegal errand.

The suspect was later handed over to the police after much beatings, according to reports.
