Generally speaking any act that Allah is pleased with should be done in these days. The primary act to be done abundantly is the tahleel, takbeer and tahmeed as these were mentioned in the narration of Ibn ‘Umar raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) (quoted below) Dhikr [Remembrance of Allah swt] Ibn Umar narrates that the Prophet (Peace be upon Him) said: “There are no days during which good deeds are greater are beloved to Allah than these ten days (Dhul Hijjah). So recite more often the tahleel, takbeer and tahmeed.”[Reported by Imam Ahmed]. Tahleel is to declare the oneness of Allah by saying La ilaaha il-lal-laah (There is none worthy of worship except Allah) Takbeer is to proclaim the greatness of Allah by saying Allahu Akbar (Allah is Great!) Tahmeed is to praise Allah by saying Alhamdulillah (All Praise belongs to Allah) Tasbeeh is to glorify Allah by saying Subhanallah (Glory be to Allah) Fasting Abu Qataadah raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) reported that Rasullullah (Peace be upon Him) said: “I have hope in Allah Ta’ala that the fast of Arafaat will be an atonement for the sins of the past and the forthcoming year.” (Tirmidhi) Abu Qatadah raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (Peace be upon Him) said regarding the fast of the day of Arafah, “It expiates the sins of the past year and coming year.” [Sahih Muslim] It is reported from Hunaydah ibn Khalid that one of the wives of the Prophet (Peace be upon Him) stated that the Prophet (Peace be upon Him) used to fast the first nine days of Dhul Hijjah [Al-Nasai and Abu Dawood]. Sacrifice Sacrifice, for it is the ancient ritual of our forefather Ibrahim and was ordered for our Prophet (Peace be upon Him) when Allah said "So pray to your Lord and sacrifice [to Him alone]” [108: 2] The Prophet (Peace be upon Him) said: “The son of Adam does not perform any actions on the day of sacrifice which is more pleasing to Allah than the shedding of blood. The sacrificed animal shall come on the Day of judgment with its horns, hair, and hooves. The sacrifice is accepted by Allah before the blood reaches the ground…” [Tirmithi, Ibn Majah] Regarding the sacrifice, Allah says in the Qur’an: “It is not their meat, nor their blood, that reaches Allah, It is their piety that reaches Allah.” [Surah Al-Haj:37] Takbeers: The Takbeer at-Tashreeq at least once after every fardh prayer from Fajr of the 9th of Zulhijjah until Asr time of the 13th of Zulhijjah. It is: "Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, la ilaha ill-Allah; wa Allahu akbar. Allahu akbar, wa Lillahi’l-hamd (Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great, there is no god but Allah; Allah is Most Great and to Allah be praise),” Men are encouraged to recite these phrases out loud and women quietly Doing more good deeds than usual 1. Prayer Increase greatly in your prayer (Salah) for it is related, the Prophet (Peace be upon Him) said: “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days (Dhul Hijjah).” [Sunan Ibn Majah] 2. Recitation Recite the Quran for it is the best form of Dhikr and the shortest route to draw closer to Allah. Set yourself an aspirational target for these days as you did set yourself a target for Ramadan. An authentic hadith in At-Tirmithee states: Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah, he will have a reward. And that reward will be multiplied by ten. I am not saying that “Alif, Laam, Meem” is a letter, rather I am saying that “Alif” is a letter, “laam” is a letter and “meem” is a letter.” So increase your recitation of the Qur’an to gain these merits, and to gain the following merit as well. In another hadeeth, ‘Aisha, raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with her) relates that the Prophet (Peace be upon Him) said: Verily the one who recites the Qur’an beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will have TWICE that reward.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] 3. Charity Donate in charity for charity has been linked to bravery while miserliness has been linked to cowardice. The Prophet (Peace be upon Him) would invoke, “O Allah, I seek refuge in you from miserliness and cowardice.” 4. Sadaqa Help the needy (start from family and friends around you, those that will ask and those that will not due their level of bashfulness) Abu Huraira raḍyAllāhu 'anhu (may Allāh be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (Peace be upon Him) said, ” … whoever alleviates the need of a needy person, Allah will alleviate his needs in this world and the Hereafter… [Sahih Muslim (4/2074) No. 2699, Sunan Tirmidhi (5/195) No. 2945, Sunan Ibn Majah (1/152) No. 225, Musnad Ahmad (2/252) No. 7421] Conclusion In summary, it is the responsibility of every Muslim, man and woman, old and young, to revive these ten days until they become for our community like the last ten nights of Ramadan. Our lives are short and our accountability great. We cannot afford to let golden moments like these pass by without expending ourselves in the worship of Allah. Allah Knows Best May Allah Suhanahu wa ta’ala grant us goodness. Aameen. |
Definition of Istikhaarah Istikhaarah in Arabic means seeking guidance to make a decision concerning something or seeking guidance to make appropriate choice from Allah by means of prescribed du’a narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Istikhaarah is…. * Submission to the command of Allah and a practical demonstration that one has no power and no strength of one’s own. * Prescribed in cases where a person does not know the right decision to make in matters where it is known whether a thing is good or bad. * Not prescribed when it comes to things that are obligatory, haraam or makruh. Meaning that there is no need to do istikhaarah whether to perform acts of worship or to commit sin or evil action. * To be prayed when one starts to think of the matter with an open mind, and not have decided on a specific course of action. Ruling The scholars are unanimously agreed that Istikhaarah is Sunnah. The evidence that it is prescribed is the hadeeth narrated by al-Bukhaari from Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to teach his companions to make istikhaarah in all matters, just as he used to teach them soorahs from the Qur’aan. He said: ‘If any one of you is deliberating about a decision he has to make, then let him pray two rak’ahs of non-obligatory prayer, then say: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيـرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ، وَأسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْعَظِيمِ، فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلَا أَقْدِرُ، وَتَعْلَمُ وَلَا أَعْلَمُ، وَأَنْتَ عَلاَّمُ الْغُيُوبِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الَأمْرَ (وَيُسَمِّي حَاجَتَه) خَيْرٌ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي، فَاقْدُرْهُ لِي وَيَسِّرْهُ لِي ثُمَّ بَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ، وَإِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الأَمْرَ شَرٌّ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي، فَاصْرِفْهُ عَنِّي وَاصْرِفْنِي عَنْهُ وَاقْدُرْ لِيَ الْخَيْرَ حَيْثُ كَانَ ثُمَّ أَرْضِنِي بِهِ Transliteration Allaahumma inni astakheeruka bi ‘ilmika wa astaqdiruka bi qudratika wa as’aluka min fadlika, fa innaka taqdiru wa laa aqdir, wa ta’lamu wa laa a’lam, wa anta ‘allaam al-ghuyoob. Allaahumma fa in kunta ta’lamu haadha’l-amra (then the matter should be mentioned by name) khayran li fi ‘aajil amri wa aajilihi (or: fi deeni wa ma’aashi wa ‘aaqibati amri) faqdurhu li wa yassirhu li thumma baarik li fihi. Allaahumma wa in kunta ta’lamu annahu sharrun li fi deeni wa ma’aashi wa ‘aaqibati amri (or: fi ‘aajili amri wa aajilihi) fasrifni ‘anhu [wasrafhu ‘anni] waqdur li al-khayr haythu kaana thumma radini bihi Translation: O Allaah, I seek Your guidance [in making a choice] by virtue of Your knowledge, and I seek ability by virtue of h Your power, and I ask You of Your great bounty. You have power, I have none. And You know, I know not. You are the Knower of hidden things. O Allaah, if in Your knowledge, this matter (then it should be mentioned by name) is good for me both in this world and in the Hereafter (or: in my religion, my livelihood and my affairs), then ordain it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me. And if in Your knowledge it is bad for me and for my religion, my livelihood and my affairs (or: for me both in this world and the next), then turn me away from it, [and turn it away from me], and ordain for me the good wherever it may be and make me pleased with it).” al-Bukhari (1166). Note: Some scholars have prescribed what is to be recited in Salat istikhaarah but the most correct is that any particular verses can be recited when praying istikaarah Du’aa’ should be recited immediately after the prayer Though Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said in al-Fataawa al-Kubra: Part 2, p. 265, “it is permissible to recite the du’aa’ of istikhaarah before or after the salaam, whether you are praying salaat al-istikhaarah or another prayer.” But the most correct is that the du’aa should be recited immediately after the prayer. The Hanafis, Maalikis, Shaafa’is and Hanbalis stated that the du’aa’ should be recited immediately after the prayer. This is in accordance with what was stated in the hadeeth narrated from the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). See al-Mawsoo’ah al-Fiqhiyyah, part 3, p. 241. Myths of Istikhaarah - The myth that is widespread among people is that after praying istikhaarah you should sleep, and whatever good you see in your dream that makes you happy means that what you intend to do is good and will be made easy for you, otherwise it is not good. There is no evidence for this assertion as that is not a condition. What Allaah makes him happy about and easy for him is what Allaah choose not only feel happy about. Shaykh al-Islam [Ibn Taymiyah] (may Allaah have mercy on him) said concerning the matter of feeling happy about something: if he makes istakhaarah, then whatever Allah makes him feel happy about and makes easy for him, this is what Allaah has chosen for him. (Majmoo’ al-Fataawaa, 10/539). - Another myth is that istikhaarah should be repeated 3 times , 7 times or in odd numbers… There is no set time period for salaat al-istikhaarah; it is permissible to repeat it more than once, but there is no limit to how many times. The person may offer the du’aa’ before or after saying the salaam. - Taking Istikhaarah as a ‘special occasion only’ prayer or dua. Many think that it requires so much preparation like ritual bath wearing new cloth or white dress. Some will even pray Isha Salah then not speak to anyone, go to bed and wait for a dream of some sort. Istikhaarah is simple and these conditions were not evidenced. - Seeing Dreams: You don’t have to see a dream but of course you may see a dream. A good dream is a positive sign and a bad dream is a sign of warning regarding that matter of your life in general. And seeing dream after istikharaah is not a condition of one istikhaarah is accepted. - Asking another person to make Istikharah on one's behalf. This is not substantiated from any Hadith. To make mashwarah' (consult) with someone else is Sunnah but asking another person to make itikhaarah on one’s behalf is not established that is why we need to learn it and be able to recite it like suratul fatiah. I will like to conclude with the opinion of Imam An-Nawawi, he holes? that “after performing the istikharah, a person must do what he is wholeheartedly inclined to do and feels good about doing and should not insist on doing what he had desired to do before making the istikharah. And if his feelings change, he should leave what he had intended to do, otherwise he is not completely leaving the choice to Allah, and would not be honest in seeking aid from Allah’s power and knowledge. Sincerity in seeking Allah’s choice, means that one should completely leave what he himself had desired or determined.” (Fiqhus Sunnah: 2.32) May Allah grant us understanding, guide us and accept our prayers. Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem This is a common question many ask and in shaa Allah today we will learn all about this base on Quran and Sunnah of the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him_. To summarize what the fuqaha[/b]or [b]scholars have mentioned, we can divide the ruling on marrying into six categories: 1) obligatory (fard) This is when an individual has an overwhelming level of sexual desire in a way that he/she is certain of committing fornication (zina), and there is nothing besides marriage to prevent him/her, provided one (the male) has the financial means to marry, and that one does not fear being unjust or oppressive to the spouse. For this person marriage is compulsory upon him or her. 2) Necessary (wajib). This is when an individual has an overwhelming level of sexual desire in a way that one fears committing fornication, or one cannot prevent himself from looking at the unlawful or from masturbation, provided one has the financial means to marry, and that one does not fear being unjust or oppressive to the spouse. 3) Emphasized and confirmed Sunnah (sunnah al-Muakkadah) If anyone intentionally decides not to marry is sinful and may loose been among the ummah of the Prophet Peace be upon him. This is for an individual who is in a moderate state, in that the sexual desire is not overwhelming as in the above two categories, and one is capable of having sexual intercourse, paying the dowry (mahr) and maintaining a wife. Also, one does not fear being unjust to the spouse and being neglectful of other obligatory acts. 4) Prohibitively disliked (makruh tahriman) This is for an individual who fears being unjust or oppressive to the spouse, even if there is an overwhelming level of sexual desire, for the rights of servants are given precedence over the right of Allah. This means it's a bad habit or sinful to treat your wife or husband unjustly. 5) Unlawful (haram) This is when one is certain of being unjust or oppressive to the spouse, even if there is an overwhelming level of sexual desire. This means if you are aggressive nature with bad attitude and knows you will end up oppressing the wife the marriage is haraam for you. It also applies to men who cannot cater for first wife but decides to marry a second wife. Big NO chance my brother, second wife is haraam for you. Marriage is not only for fun but with responsibities. 6) Permissible (mubah) Imam Ibn Abidin (Allah have mercy on him) adds this category quoting from Bahr al-Ra’iq. This is when one’s desire is not overwhelming; neither does one fear being unjust to the spouse. However, one marries solely to fulfil one’s needs and does not have an intention of implementing the Sunnah, for the reward of Sunnah will only be gained when one has the intention of following it or being chaste. If one marries with the intention of saving one’s self from sinning, it will be regarded as an act of Ibadah. The above is the summary of what Imam al-Haskafi, Allama Ibn Abidin and other Hanafi Fuqaha (Allah have mercy on them all) have explained in their respective works. As such, each individual would qualify to be included in one of the above mentioned five categories. Thus, if a man was capable of maintaining his wife and did not fear being unjust or oppressive, then it would be obligatory (fard), necessary (wajib) or Sunnah al-Muakkadah for him to marry. If he abstained from marrying, he would be sinful, as Imam al-Haskafi explains that, even in the situation when marriage is Sunnah, one would be sinful for not implementing this great act of worship. If a man fears that he will be unjust or oppressive to his wife, and cannot cater for a wife needs especially sexual, economic and social relations then it will be either unlawful (haram) or prohibitively disliked (makruh tahriman) for him to marry. If he does not fear being unjust but is not capable to maintain a wife financially, then marriage will not be obligatory or necessary upon him. However, if one is not capable to maintain a wife, then it will not be unlawful or disliked to marry, for one is capable to take a loan or acquire wealth from some other means. (Radd al-Muhtar). Finally, based on the mentioned points above, if you regard yourself to be included in the first two categories (i.e. fard and wajib), then it would be necessary for you to marry even without the permission of your parents. The reason being is that, obedience to parents is not unconditional and absolute. If one's parents forbid one from one's fard, wajib or confirmed sunnah duties, one may not listen to them, as is the case if they order one to do something unlawful (haram) or prohibitively disliked (makruh tahriman). That's for brothers. But for sisters all efforts should be made to get parents to support your marriage if all efforts fails then you can involve local imams or learned elders to mediate with your parents. Financial support will be necessary even if she (the wife) was in her father's house bcs support is necessary (wajib) from the time of contracting a valid marriage nikah, even if the woman has not as yet moved into her husband's home. May Almighty Allah aid us to be able to marry and cater for our partners needs and happiness Aameen. Credit: Sheikh AbdRazak. |
By Kunle Bello As many people know, the major elements of the National Youth Service Scheme such as camping, place of primary assignment, community development service also known as core assignment and passing out, must be duly completed before a corp member is entitled to the award of NYSC certificate. As corp members are striving towards completing these cardinal programs, effort should also made within the service year for self-development. It is quite unfortunate that many corp members idle away the service year and at the end, they join the popular chorus saying: ‘the service year is a huge waste of time’. The common strategy during the service year is for corp members to save a paltry sum out of their monthly allowance in order to meet up with their daily upkeep or to sustain themselves after the service year pending the time they secure a dream job in the labour market. However, experience has shown that most of the money saved during the service year ends-up being exhausted within few weeks/months after leaving service while such corp members are still searching for jobs which keeps them living from hand-to- mouth, especially if such graduates do not have a well-to-do family to cater for their immediate needs. This ugly trend can be curtailed if corp members can save a certain part of their monthly allowance strictly for self-investment which will go a long way to make them stand out in the labour market or equip them to start their own business. Self-investment can be defined as steps taking to better oneself, such as learning new skills or overcoming bad habits. It offers individuals an opportunity to gain some perspectives about their life so that they may begin planning for the future. Self-investment during the service year can take diverse forms but the most visible is for corp members to enroll in a professional course that is relevant to their discipline in government recognised and accredited centers or obtain any certification that can make them stand tall among their peers jostling for scarcely available jobs in the labour market. Corp members can also opt to attend skill acquisition training or entrepreneurship program, which can make them self-reliant after the service year. Self-investment during the service year if duly pursued in the right way and right manner with determination and discipline can make it worthwhile and fulfilling without jeopardising aforementioned major elements of the National Youth Service scheme. http://www.opinions.ng/corpers-nysc-self-investment/ |

By Kunle Bello The inability of NYSC management to mobilise all 2016 Batch B prospective corp members for camping/orientation came as a shocker to many of us. It’s obvious, because some have left their job and various means of hustling so as to prepare ahead to serve the nation. But when it has dawned on us that not all of us will not be mobilised due to limited camp capacities nationwide and with the assurance that stream II will resume early this year. We accepted it in good faith. To our chagrin, till this moment the NYSC has not deemed it fit reveal the rationale behind the prolonged delay nor avail us the timetable let alone how they intend to do it. Some of our complacent colleagues want us to keep mute to such carefree attitude of the NYSC, when it is supposed to be responsive to our plight. Some are asking us to be praying and expectating a miracle, while others are calling us different unprintable names for complaining about this issue. There are prospective corp members that are indifferent even if it is going to take them years to do the needful as long as it doesn’t prevent them from having their 3 square meals from the comfort of their homes. Others are of the opinion that it is too early to point an accusing finger at the NYSC management. It is sad that we the youth usually embrace the system that victimises us and align with it to counter people who have chosen to rebel against it. If the chances of mobilising accumulation of 2014, 2015 & 2016 graduates of 2016 PCMS of Batch B stream II are still slim by 2017, what will now be the fate of potential graduates that are expectating March, July and November mobilisations respectively? A stitch in time saves nine and the best time to act is now. I salute the ever courageous efforts of those that are ready to make the move to change the status quo of this irresponsible agency, count on me to join the move in my state here, if there is no green light from them later this week. http://www.opinions.ng/prospective-corp-member-decries-failure-mobilized-nysc/ |

As an acute viewer and listener of Television and Radio programmes(strictly politics).I haves seen guests and listened to different callers while contributing to such programmes calling themselves unprintable names-all in the name of loyalty for or against politician. Cyberspace experience is like a civil war;seeing an agile youths exchanging banters, shooting and stabbing each others with their phone/computer hardware devices(mouse,keyboard/pad) over a politician. Taking to the street for protest or counter protest with placards of different inscriptions over a politician is now in vogue.Leaving each other on limbo after heaping on unnecessary enemies. These actions and inactions can be attributed to Abobaku mentality and Stockholm syndrome which have been plaguing us for aeon. Though,Due to diffferences in ideologies,we are bound to be tilted toward a particular politician, but not at the cost of our collective interests. My observation is that,Masses are just defending or opposing each other over a politician due to different affiliations such as tribe, ethnic,re ligion, political party or personal aggradizement brushing aside collective interest. To the chagrin of the masses, the wards of these so called politician hardly engage each other. They are in their different palatial cozy, updating their cute UK matric-graduation ceremony pics, sucking "n" lolling with their fat bank accounts and other fits achieved courtesy of sluch fund accrued to them from their parents. Another fact is that, these politician unanimously agree and greedily share our collective patrimony leaving masses in penury which has aggravated the glowing ember of the masses cool cucumber. They see crumbs giving out of their massive loots to the masses as if they are doing us favour which lead to their crass display of unbridled arrogance and elephantiasize their bread-in-water egos(Hon. Ayoola,2016). Bottomline;Nigerian politicians are not worth dying for.Their insensitivity to the plight of the masses must be of great concern, taking them serious and believing in their concorted lies is why we are here today. Irrespective of our differences, let's commend them if they are ready to set the country on the path to real economic recovery and proper diversification of economy and jointly reject them if they are doing otherwise. Nigeria will be better off the day masses cease to set fort or oppose sheep-ishly like mass of object hypnotism,as freedom is never voluntarily given by the opperessor,it must be demanded by the oppressed. BismilLaahir Rahmaanir Raheem. It is the nature of mankind to be forgetful and to commit sins. However, Allah has given us the ability to rectify ourselves by turning to Him and begging for His forgiveness. Our mountains of evil deeds are nothing before the vast ocean of the mercy of Allah atakbeer (Praise Allah), ALLAHU AKBAR. ALLAH has promised to forgive our sins as long as we regret for it and repent from it. Committing sins may make you sorrowful, depressed and deeply disappointed with yourself. But if you return to Allah with a few tears and beseech Him for mercy, He will certainly forgive you. There is no other door to knock to solve our issues. None can forgive sins except Him. He calls us to the abode of peace (Paradise); He is the Almighty who hides our faults and He alone can replace our bad deeds with good deeds. ALLAHU AKBAR. The door of repentance is always open for a person until he dies or until the sun rises from the west, whichever comes first. When something is a necessity Allah provides it in abundance like air and water. Since we are always sinful and negligent of Allah and Satan and the self are always inciting us towards evil, therefore tau’bah is provided in abundance so we can turn back to Allah. Allah has created a solution to every sickness even if it may be the poison of a snake. Satan and sins are a major sickness and the cure for it is in tau’bah and istighfar, crying in front of Allah with deep regret in the heart. Whenever our tau’bah breaks we should make tau’bah again. Some people despair and think they are sinners and will go to Hellfire. Tau’bah is so powerful that it can take a person from the lowest levels of Hellfire and raise him to the highest levels of Paradise. Allah (Subhanahu WaTaala), the Lord of Mercy, puts mercy in the hearts of every mother in the world by which they love and care for their children. We make mistakes but Allah overlooks our faults. Our worship and good deeds are not perfect but Allah accepts them and multiplies the reward. Do not fall into minor sins. Minor sins leads to major sins the way a spark may start a fire and burn down a house. A believer should run away from sins as one runs away from a snake. Even a minor sin makes a true believer restless as if a mountain is above his head and is about to fall on him and crush him. Make a U-turn in life, wash off your slate of deeds, eliminate the bad deeds and protect your good deeds. Method of making Tau’bah: One should make sincere tau’bah to Allah for one's sins. The requisites of tau’bah are the following: 1. To immediately abstain from the sin 2. To regret and wish one had never indulged in the sin. 3. To resolve to never commit the sin again 4. If one have violated the rights of another person it is necessary to seek forgiveness from that person After making sincere tau’bah be confident in the acceptance of your tau’bah. Allah (Subhanahu WaTaala) is all-Merciful and all-Forgiving. He is always ready to accept the repentance of His sinful slaves. Allah says in Surah Al-e-Imran: “And those who, when they have committed Fahishah or wronged themselves with evil, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins - and none can forgive sins but Allah - And do not persist in what (wrong) they have done, while they know.” [Al-Qur’an 3:135] AlhamdulilLah. Benefits of Tau’bah: The Qur’an describes the story of Prophet Nuh (A.S), "I said (to them): Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; He will send rain to you in abundance; And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers. " [Quran 71:10-12]. Whoever makes Tau’bah re-establishes his relationship with the Creator of the heavens and earth. Misconceptions when committing a sin: 1. The person thinks that no one is watching. Allah (Subhanahu WaTaala), the all-Knower and all-Hearer says in the Qur’an: “Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful” [89:14]. 2. The person thinks that no one is near him. Allah (Subhanahu WaTaala), says in the Qur’an: “Have you not seen that Allah knows whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on the earth? There is no secret counsel of three, but He is their fourth (with His Knowledge), nor of five but He is their sixth (with His Knowledge), not of less than that or more, but He is with them (with His Knowledge) wheresoever they may be; and afterwards on the Day of Resurrection, He will inform them of what they did. Verily, Allah is the All-Knower of everything. “[58:7] 3. The person thinks that no one can find his action or intent. Allah (Subhanahu WaTaala), says in the Qur’an: “Allah knows the fraud of the eyes, and all that the breasts conceal.”[40:19]. 4. The person thinks that no one can catch him or punish him. Allah (Subhanahu WaTaala), says in the Qur’an: “So on that Day, none will punish as He will punish. “[89:25]“…Verily, His Seizure is painful, and severe.” [11:102]. May Allah forgive our sins.
