Two people are dragging razor blade. It is the one who have his hand cut that will release the razor blade. The rivalry between Afenifere and Tinubu started officially in 2002 shortly after Ige was killed. At a meeting(Prior to this period) in Ilejemeje Ekiti (Ayo Fasnmi's home), Tinubu had sent his Deputy Bucknor Akerele to represent him. Bucknor was seen lamenting publicly in the meeting saying "Mi o ki nse egbe Tinubu(I'm not Tinubu's mate), he has no respect, he can't be giving me orders, imagine that little boy".....LOL. Ayo Fasanmi was raged....he almost used his hands to cover the mouth of Bucknor. He told her "you are wrong. He is your boss, just like Awo was Ajasin's boss. This is not about age, this is leadership. He is your leader. If you have issues that cannot be reconciled...just resign. If you continue like this, you will become history like SLA..." Hmmmmm. Many Afenifere leaders supported Bucknor because, they also said Tinubu was 'trying to tell us what to do'. They eventually pushed Bucknor to her political grave, though alive but unheard of till date. Afenifere started taking odd decisions no matter how ridiculous just to ensure that they did not go to Tinubu direction. It got to a stage that even if Tinubu describe them as wise elders, they will still disagree and say they are foolish toddlers!!! Lol. Eventually, their stooge AD Chairman Akinfenwa took AD far beyond the reach of Tinubu and sold it in cash to the PDP.....Tinubu was run out of the party. He formed AC. And AD suffered stroke, went into coma and died in the hands of Afenifere and Akinfenwa. Since then if Tinubu goes right, Afenifere will go left and because Tinubu is always taking good decision, Afenifere is always taking the opposite. Afenifere agenda eventually changed from protecting the Yoruba interest to bringing down that little boy Tinubu. It became an antagonist group whose sole aim is to take unexplainable vengeance!!! In 2007, Afenifere had become an instrument of retrogression in the hand of PDP working against Fashola, Dipo Dina, they had earlier in 2003, joined PDP to remove Bisi Akande as Osun Governor. Till date, if you want to know what Afenifere will do, find out what Tinubu is doing now, then the opposite is theirs. They are the backers of Mimiko, Kashamu, Fayose, Omisore, Agbaje and other notable die hard haters of Tinubu. What got GEJ attracted to Afenifere? Is it because he developed SW? No. GEJ did nothing...as in NOTHING in the SW? If you see one show me. Is it because GEJ love the SW? NO. He hates SW with passion, OBJ brought him to power, he jilted him, he marginalised the SW glaringly and empower the 'abiipabes' in the land. So what was the attraction? Their only hope of bringing down Tinubu politically and may be, physically too, was in GEJ. If GEJ can destroy Tinubu, Yoruba need not more than that!!! And they started following GEJ around....the respect they never gave Ige, OBJ or Tinubu was rolled in one and handed over to the world renowned clueless omugo that ever come to power in the world. ...GEJ!!! Shame on you Afenifere. Let us assume in 2015, Tinubu supported GEJ and Afenifere supported Buhari. And now Buhari had given Yoruba sons/daughters, Awolowo in law VP, and many other huge position of responsibilities. Tinubu would have been persuaded to accept the winner!!! Only a foolish man will get to the end of a road and still knock his head on the wall!!! The reversal is the case today, and Envy has lost completely. Afenifere have lost every single goodwill it brought to politics in 1999!!! Envy and overbearing have brought their pride to shambles. They exist no more apart from in the book of history!!! Tinubu has proved to the Yoruba people that his struggle since 2003 is not for himself but for them... he has given them many soldiers, he has told the world that for every Fayose or Omisore or Koro, there are great ones like Fashola, Fayemi, Aregbesola, Osinbajo.....For every talkative like FFK, there is always an eloquent Gbajabiamila, intelligent Lai Mohammed. For every Obada, Jumoke etc, there is an Adeosun, a Dabiri...... Yorubas are not a thug generation. We are Omoluabis.....We are Afenifere!!!!! Afenifere must do a press conference admitting their errors and commending the hero BOLA AHMED TINUBU for taking Yoruba to the center even as Opposition Leader without being a PDP man for one day.....without compromising the stand and ideals of opposition politics as taught us by Obafemi Awolowo....... The fight should be over now, the loser is known and we know the winner. ... Afenifere lost.....Tinubu wins. That is Eledua for you... He gives victory to those who deserve it. Longlive Jagaban... Longlive our Pride.....May you live long and in good health, more wisdom, prosperity, more victories, more joy and happiness. Credit -one ayekooto |

ALANBEY:Yes...Today is the first day of Dhul-hijjah |
The Recommended Acts starting from first 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah are as follows; 1. Prayer - It is highly recommended to perform the obligatory acts at their prescribed times (as early as possible) and to increase oneself in the superogatory acts, for indeed, this is what brings a person closer to their Lord. The Messenger of Allah, upon whom be peace, said: "Upon you is to increase in your prostration to Allah, for verily you do not prostrate to Allah with even one prostration, except that He raises you in degrees and decreases your sins because of it." [Reported by Muslim] 2. Fasting - This has been mentioned as one of the acts of righteousness where Hanbada ibn Khalid reports on the authority of his wife who reports that some of the wives of the Prophet, peace be upon him, said, "The Prophet, upon whom be peace, would fast on the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah, the day of Ashura and three days in every month." [Recorded by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, an- Nisa'i and others] Imam an-Nawawi said that fasting in these ten days is extremely recommended. 3. Saying allahu akbar, la illaha illallah and alhamdulillah - It is found in the aforementioned narration of Ibn 'Umar: "So increase yourselves in saying la illaha illallah, allahu akbar and alhamdulillah." Imam al-Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "Ibn 'Umar and Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with them both, used to go out to the markets in the ten days saying the takbir causing the people to follow them in this action." He also said: "'Umar ibn al-Khattab used to say the takbir in his mimbar in Mina, whereupon the people of the mosque hearing 'Umar, would start to say the takbir as would the people in the markets until the whole of Mina was locked in glorifying Allah." Ibn 'Umar used to say the takbir in Mina during these ten days and after prayers, whilst on his bed, in his tent, in his gathering and whilst walking. What is recommended is to say the takbir aloud due to the fact that 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, his son and Abu Hurayrah used to do likewise, may Allah be pleased with them all. Strive with us O Muslims in reviving this sunnah that has become lost in these times and it was almost forgotten, even amongst the people of righteousness and goodness all of which is unfortunately in opposition to what the best of generations were upon (preserving and maintaining the supererogatory acts). There are a number of ways of making takbir that have been narrated by the companions and their followers and from these ways is the following: • Allahu akbar, allahu akbar, allahu akbar kabirun. • Allahu akbar, allahu akbar, la ilaha illallah, wallahu akbar, wallahu akbar, wa lillahil hamd. • Allahu akbar, allahu akbar, allahu akbar, la ilaha illallah, wallahu akbar, allahu akbar wa lillahil hamd. 4. Fasting on the day of 'Arafah - Fasting has been affirmed on the day of 'Arafah, where it has been confirmed from the Prophet, peace be upon him, that he said regarding fasting on the day of 'Arafah: "Be content with the fact that Allah will expiate for you your sins for the year before (the day of 'Arafah) and the year after (the day of 'Arafah) ." [Reported by Muslim] However, whoever is at 'Arafah as a pilgrim then fasting is not expected of him, as the Prophet, peace be upon him, stopped at 'Arafah to eat. May the peace of Allah be upon his Prophet, the family of the Prophet and all of his companions. |
The Council of Academic Staff Unions of Osun State Owned Tertiary Institutions has also told lecturers at the two state polytechnics and those in the two colleges of education to ignore the directive of the state government to come out for fresh workers’ verification exercise. The statement was signed by the CASUOSTI Chairman, Lasisi Jimoh; Secretary, Olusegun Lana; Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Iree, Dotun Omisore; ASUP Chairman, Esa Oke, Adesola Akande; COEASU Ila-Orangun Chairman, Segun Onifade and COEASU Ilesa Chairman, Oladele Ojo. The lecturers said the fresh verification was nothing but another ploy to further delay payment of outstanding salaries despite the fact that the government had received its share of the bailout The truth is,they (CASTUOSTI) did one verifiction just last week.Government now issued another directives to conduct another screening for them, the pertinent question now is what's the essence of the screening conducted for them earlier by this same Government? |

Thirty two-year old Lawal Ahmed is a Corporal in 115 Battalion of the Nigerian Army. The Funtua, Katsina State-born soldier enlisted in the Nigerian Army on 27 August, 2003, and served in 6 Battalion, Akwa-Ibom State, 1 Brigade Garrison, Sokoto, as well as State Task Force (STF) Jos. His service number is 03/54/5867. On 22 April, 2014, Lawal said he applied to the Chief of Army Staff for voluntary discharge to enable him contest a seat in the Katsina State House of Assembly, but that the army turned down the application. He claims the working conditions in the army is terrible, and has therefore decided to take his case to the media, since, according to him, his employers won’t listen. He spoke with Chuks Akunna Can you please start by introducing yourself and why you are here? My name is Corporal Lawal Ahmed of 115 battalion, Northeast. I am 32 years from Funtua, Katsina State, and attended Government Science Secondary School, Paskari, Katsina State. I joined Nigerian Army on 27th August 2003. I was posted to 6 battalion Nigerian Army, Ibawa, Abak, Akwa Ibom State and served from December 2003 to 2006. In 2007, I was promoted Lance Corporal and posted to 1 Brigade Garrison, Sokoto. From there I was taken to STF in Jos. Before STF, I received training at 1 Div, Kaduna. In 2011, I was promoted to the rank of Corporal. Can you recall the names of some persons who joined the army with you? We were 30 boys, one girl – Ajaiyi Kemisola, she was the only female among us, as private. Why are you here? I decided to come to THISDAY to speak on the terrible working conditions in the army. Are there no ways of channeling your grievances in the army? None. We are discouraged from asking questions. Twice, I applied to leave the army to continue my life as a normal human being, with dignity. On both occasions they rejected my application. That is why I left. Isn’t that AWOL or desertion? Call it anything. I am ready to sacrifice my life for the betterment of the army. The conditions are terrible. Nigerian army chief, general Azubuike Ihejirika named as sponsor of Boko Haram terrorist organisation How? Let me give one example. When we were taken to STF, according to the brief of former Chief of Army Staff- General (Azubuike) Ihejirika, we were to spend six months. We ended up spending close to four years without being changed and without explanations. You needed to see how tattered our uniforms are, not to talk of the weapons. This is not how armies operate in other countries. Like? I was in Sudan in 2005, under the African Mission in Darfur. I went there for peace keeping, as protection force. How many of you went from Nigeria? Actually, army headquarters garrison provided one company, six batallion provided another company. A company is made up of betweem 100 – 250 soldiers. My commander was Major H. M. Labo, I don’t know his rank now in the army. My commander in the STF was S. A. Sangonuga, a Yoruba. I don’t know his present rank. Which other officers did you remember? We had Lt. Col. Olakola Micheal and Lt.Col. Rasheedudin, my battalion commander. Why did you join the Army? I joined the army to contribute to the growth of my country. Not because you were looking for work? No. However, sadly, right from the time I joined the army, I began to see many wrong things. There I saw people who served the Nigerian Army for 35 years and retired at a rank of Lance Corporal. This is bad. You saw them where? I saw them in 6 Battalion, I worked with them. How did they feel? They felt terrible because their juniors, are always ahead of them. Imagine someone that entered the army in 1980 remaining a Lance Corporal and someone who joined 20 years later rising to the rank of Staff Sergent. How do you expect the Lance Corporal to feel! From that moment, I began taking notes on the bad things I felt should be addressed in the army. I consider myself lucky to have reached the rank of Corporal in about 13 years. Several soldiers in my units had spent more years than me, and did not commit any offence, yet are Privates. What is your status? Are you still in the Nigerian Army? I am still in the service. I wrote on the 23 April, 2014, for voluntary discharge but the Army refused to release me. What reason did they give? None Who did you write to? I wrote through my commanders to the chief of army staff. Till date nothing has been heard of my letter. My sector commander was Col. Olagunju. But one soldier with whom I trained in Jaji told me that the reason may be that the army is under-manned. You trained in Jaji? Yes, we were over 800 soldiers. Some were turned back due to medical reasons. Gen. Okoro, who was Commander, Nigerian Army Infantry School, addressed us that we were going to receive new weapon training. I never saw any new weapon, apart from the weapon used in my unit. What kind of weapons? A-K47, 60mm Commando Mortar and 10mm mortar, even though nobody ever came to teach me how to operate the mortar guns. The truth is that most soldiers don’t know how to use such weapons because they have never been taught. Why? I don’t know. There was this funny incident when I was in 1 Brigade, Sokoto. When our annual range classification was conducted, my commander said soldiers with motorcycles should assist those who didn’t have to the range. Imagine the army didn’t provide a vehicle to take us there. My commander at the time, in 2008, was Lt. Col. O. A. Dada. I don’t know his rank now. Did you serve in the Northeast? In 2014, I served in Gombi, Adamawa State. From there we headed for Fella Junction, in the name of going to see new weapon, but there was none. The APCs we used were so old. At some point some were used to tow-start the others. We didn’t have tanks. It was after spending three days with our advance that we were able to borrow four new APCs from another battalion. We didn’t have communication. How did you operate without communication? That was the problem. Something happened in Fellatu Mia. Our soldiers were bringing food to us. We thought they were Boko Haram terrorists and opened fire on them. We had killed and injured many before realising they were our troops. This was very sad. You mean field officers don’t have radios communication? Only battalion, company commanders and administrative officers have Motorolla radios. Company commander, company sergeant supposed to have his own, but I don’t know if Nigerian government cannot provide or whether they provide the money and the top officers divert it. Couldn’t your people have at least used GSM communication? There was no GSM network there. I don’t think Nigerian Army do tell the families what happened to their loved ones because if they tell their families, they will take action on it. I have never seen a country that will send soldiers to go and fight without providing communication gadgets, only in Nigeria. Can you tell us what day this attack occured? No, I cannot remember the date because I lost my war diary. But from Fella we start advancing on the Miya -Fella road. At about 6:30pm, we ran into the terrorists around Miya and we fired almost till day break. Luckily, we overpowered them, and came back in the morning. Basically, our prayers served us because with the weapon we used, I don’t think we would have overpowered them. What weapon did boko haram use? They were carrying very powerful weapons. In fact, that was the first time of my seeing such weapons. What kind of weapon? Very big anti-aircraft guns. See. When a soldier dies in the army, the family will be in for a very hard life, because after three months, Nigerian army will block their salary. What happens thereafter? Some families spend more than two, three years chasing the dead soldier’s benefits. By right, the army is supposed to show love to the deceased soldier’s family to get their benefit. In most cases, the families spend all they have following up. When they run out of cash, they will abandon the money and some people will convert the money to personal use, leaving the families to suffer. How true is this claim? If you have any soldier from the rank of warrant officer down to private, call ask them, because if I give you any number, you might think I collaborated with the person. You are a journalist. Go and investigate. Tell us how Boko Haram usually ambush soldiers. The usual method is to push cows to us. They get over 100 cows and push them to us. In the confusion, they launch their attack. How they get the cows is what baffles us. Maybe they are stolen cows. And most times, our soldiers abandon their weapons and run. Some get killed. The problem isn’t helped by godfathers in the army. Very often you see soldiers and officers boasting that they are sons or relations of this General, as if Nigerian Army belongs to them. Maybe. From your presentation, you seem to be very educated. Are you a graduate? I am a school certificate holder. The army only allow people with godfathers to go for further studies. For people like us with none, you remain a Private all your life. I served twelve years without going for any course. And in Nigerian army, if an officer passes out from NDA, either regular or short service, the army are the one to nominate him to course, but we, other ranks, they think we are slaves to them. One should think it is in the best interest of the Nigerian Army to train their soldiers, but the Nigerian Army will block you from going on course so that you remain blind, not knowing much about your profession. Why do you say that? The officers love the status quo. They are afraid of you challenging them on what you might end up learning from the courses, so they rather you remained with zero knowledge. Our officers drum it in our ears that, as human beings, we have no rights, only privileges. And many soldiers have come to believe this. I disagree with them because I know that I am first a human being before becoming a soldier. Since I joined army, nobody ever showed me the terms and conditions of service, to read, to know what and what and where I will find my right. We don’t know what the Armed Forces Act says. All we know is when you commit, your superior will give directive to the clerk to prepare your charge. This is serious. It is more serious than you think. When I was at Eket, Exxon Mobil, the company trained us directly. mobile trained us directly. I was an orderly to a white man, and there was this day in 2005 I asked him, “why are you paying your staff overtime and leaving us with just N15,000 each month?’ Apparently, my question jolted him. He told me he was paying my Commander N90,000 for me and that I should not ask for any other over time. Imagine! Means my Commander had been pocketing N75,000 in my name. Multiply that times the number of soldiers under him and get an idea of how much he was making in our names. When I complained, my Commander responded by withdrawing me. Other soldiers accused me of ‘sabi-sabi”. They don’t care if their rights are trampled on, they just want to get by. As a Corporal, my monthly pay is N57,000, that is less than N2,000 a day. On the other hand, a Cadet, Termer 1, what you call Year 1 in the university collects N60,000 a month. He is collecting more salary than me. A Termer 5 or final year student in NDA earns almost twice what a Warrant Officer, who has put in more than 25 years in service earns. Don’t forget that the WO has a family and children in higher institutions. This is a very unjust system. Now, we have a new Commander-In-Chief, who happens to be from Katsina, your home state. Since Buhari took office, Boko Haram appear to have stepped up its activities. What is your recipe for ending insurgency in Nigeria? My advice to Mr. President is to retire all officers from the rank of Brigadier General. They have no use in Nigerian Army, because all of them have been feeding fat from the insurgency and it won’t be in their best interest to end it. If President Buhari will take my advice, let him look for a very capable Lieutenant Colonel and appoint Chief of Army Staff. Afterall, Gowon, I think, became Chief of Army Staff as Lt. Colonel. Several officers- Usman Katsina, Obasanjo, Benjamin Adekunle and others- were GOCS as Lt. Colonels and performed excellently well. What rank was Ojukwu when he led Biafra to war? Most of the Generals we have today have so politicized the military that there is little room for professionalism. They are businessmen and want to compete with the Dangotes and Ibrus. Let Buhari begin by flushing them out. newsrescue.com/buhari-should-retire-all-generals-corporal-lawal-ahmed-of-115-battalion/ |
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has 21 children and though he listed the names in his recent controversial book, My Watch, he did not mention their mothers. However findings by ENCOMIUM Weekly revealed the mothers of these children and other women that had dalliances with the two-time president of the country. The mothers of the children include… MRS. OLUREMI OBASANJO, his first wife, who he married on Saturday, June 22, 1963, at Camberwell Green Registry, South East London. She was just 21. Mrs. Oluremi Obasanjo is the mother of six of the 21 children of the former president. They are Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, Busola Obasanjo, ; Olusegun Obasanjo, the first son, ; Olugbenga Obasanjo, Enitan Obasanjo, and Damilola Obasanjo, the last of the woman’s children who was born in 1982. MRS. STELLA OBASANJO, the late former First Lady died on Sunday, October 23, 2005, in Spain after a failed tummy tuck surgery. She had only a child, Olumuyiwa Obasanjo, who was born in 1977, for the former president. GOLD ORUH, a former director at Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), who met the former president as a reporter during the civil war in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. She had two children for him. Her children are Funke and Seun Obasanjo. MRS. TAIWO OBASANJO, is the twin sister of Mr. Kenny Martins, the politician and former Chairman of Police Equipment Fund. She also has two children for the former president. One of her children is Esther Olubunmi Obasanjo who got married in August 2010. Mrs. Taiwo Obasanjo has since reverted to her maiden name, Martins. Since her secret dalliance with late Godwin Daboh became public knowledge, the former president distanced himself from her. Late MRS. LYNDA OBASANJO, nee Soares, was another woman who had children for Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. She was said to have had two children for him before she was killed on February 14, 1987, in daylight by armed robbers. She was 45. We really don’t know the names of her two children among the 21 children. Her cousin, Priscilla Soares was later made MD, Nicon by Obasanjo. MRS. MABEL OKOSODE OBASANJO is another woman who has children for the former army general. We, however, don’t know how many children she has for him and their names. MRS. TITILAYO OBASANJO, is another woman who has a child or children for the old man. COL. ADEBOYE OBASANJO, mother’s name is not known. But according to Mrs. Oluremi Obasanjo in her book, Bitter Sweet My Life with Obasanjo, she is a mother of two and a divorcee brought to the former general by one of his aunts who lives in Arigbajo, Ogun State, when she (Remi) was chased out of their Ikoyi (Lagos) matrimonial home for challenging his (Obasanjo) philandering. KOFOWOROLA MOJISOLA OBASANJO, who got married to Peter Kenneth Blackshire, a British Baptist minister in 2002, shares the same mother with Tunde Baiyewu, the British singer of Nigerian descent. Tunde Baiyewu’s mother lost her husband and relocated to Nigeria with her two children. She met Obasanjo who was still an officer in the army. Their dalliance produced Kofo Obasanjo. MRS. BOLA OBASANJO, is the woman that is presently living with Chief Obasanjo. She also has a child for him called Funsho Obasanjo. The woman was formerly based in London, but had to relocate to Nigeria to be his resident wife. There are other women in Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s life though they did not have children for him. HIS OTHER WOMEN: MRS. MOWO SOFOWORA, a lace fabric merchant and a married woman started dating him as far back as 1973, when Obasanjo was a Lt. Col. in the army. Mrs. Oluremi Obasanjo mentioned Mrs. Mowo Sofowora as one of the women who caused problems in her marriage. She was said to be older than Obasanjo. MRS. LABO SALAKO, the wife of late Captain Salako, who died in 1972, at Argungu in a motor accident. Late Captain Salako was Obasanjo’s mate in London. After the death of her husband, she moved in with the Obasanjos at their Ikoyi (Lagos) residence on the advice of Obasanjo and the wife, Remi, acquiesced with her husband. But before the wife knew what was going on, Labo was already having a rollicking affair with her husband. To make matters worse, she wrote Obasanjo a letter in which she advised him to divorce his wife, Remi. Remi got hold of the letter and made several photocopies and sent them to friends and relations. This was what led to Remi’s departure from her matrimonial home for several months. The story is in Mrs. Oluremi Obasanjo’s book, Bitter-Sweet. MRS. LAMIDE ADEGBENRO is the wife of Chief Niyi Adegbenro, the former Commissioner for Agriculture in Ogun State and a kinsman of Chief Obasanjo. Lamide Adegbenro, who should be in her 60s now was also mentioned by Mrs. Oluremi Obasanjo in her book as one of the many mistresses of her husband. Former Vice President, Abubakar Atiku also mentioned her during his face-off with Obasanjo that she got a gift of a brand new Peugeot 607 and $110,000 that was paid into her NATWEST Bank, UK account in 2003, by Otunba Fasawe. MRS. ALO, a former Vice Principal of Queens College, Yaba, Lagos, was also alleged to be a mistress of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. Mrs. Alo was the Vice Principal of Queens College when Iyabo Obasanjo was a student there. So, the day Iyabo saw her in a swimming trunk at her father’s swimming pool in Ota Farm, Ogun State, she nearly assaulted her if not for her mother’s intervention. Mrs. Alo, we gathered is still very close to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as she is a member of the board of directors of Obasanjo’s school, The Bells. THE PRINCESS, A princess of Lagos, who is a lover of white apparels was also said to have been romantically involved with the former president immediately after the death of late First Lady, Mrs. Stella Obasanjo. In fact, the rumour mill had it that she virtually took over the president’s private life when the First Lady died and was positioning herself as the former president’s wife before one of the children, Funke openly told her she was not welcomed in the family. It was in order to wave off the influence of the princess in their father’s life that the children came together to impress on him to marry another woman. It was this pressure that brought about Mama Funsho, Mrs. Bola Obasanjo relocating from London to Nigeria as his official wife.
