But every single parts that made those cars were manufactured in South Korea by the Ship building company.

Innosun does not produce one single part of his cars.

He only assembles pre ordered parts from several Chinese companies that support the Chinese auto industry and ships it to Nigeria from where it is assembled in his auto shop he calls an assembly line.

Which actual manufacturing is going on in Innosun assembly plant ?

1. It did not go through established procurement rules via the BPP
2. There was neither public nor competitive tender
3. It was awarded without NASS appropriation for the FG costs involved
4. It was awarded to an international criminal, Gilbert Chagoury, who has been convicted in the US and Switzerland
5. Gilbert Chagoury is a close personal cohort of the President
6. The president's son sits on Chagoury's boards

Visible investments in road infrastructure, healthcare and education in some North-Central states are shaping a new political narrative in a region where President Bola Ahmed Tinubu won the 2023 Presidential election by a relatively slim margin. The President had secured 1,760,993 votes, representing 41.3 per cent of the votes cast across the North-Central in the 2023 presidential election but the margin was not wide enough to make the region an electoral stronghold.

Three years later, visible infrastructure and the increased capacity of state governments to undertake development projects in Kogi, Benue and Nasarawa States could strengthen Tinubu’s acceptance ahead of the 2027 elections.

A nationwide media tour of government projects organised by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) in collaboration with the Presidential Media Team has so far taken journalists through the three states in the geo-political zone and the feedback is broadly similar.

Beyond the political statements of government officials, residents and community leaders spoke of roads linking farming communities, bridges ending dangerous river crossings, hospitals expanding specialist services, flyovers easing congestion and skills acquisition centres creating opportunities for women and youths.

In Nasarawa State, Governor Abdullahi Sule said the state’s monthly allocation had risen from N4.5 billion before the removal of the fuel subsidy to about N16 billion currently, attributing the state’s increased capacity for execution of projects to the administration’s reforms.

“Executing all the projects without borrowing from the bank is because of the Federal Government’s support. So, you must give the President credit for that,” Sule said.

Among the projects inspected in the state were the N44 billion Mararaba flyover designed to address chronic congestion on the Abuja-Keffi corridor, the Keffi flyover, Akwanga road and underpass projects. There is also the Kilema-Tudun Amba bridge and stormwater channel in Lafia.

The Mararaba project, expected to be completed in December this year, will reduce travel time between Abuja and Keffi from over two hours to less than 40 minutes.

In Benue State, the ongoing Buruku Bridge across the Katsina-Ala River is expected to enhance movement for communities that have relied on boats to cross the river for decades.

Also, the 854-metre dual carriage bridge is expected to link communities in Benue with Taraba State and provide a strategic corridor connecting the North-Central with the North-East.

Benue State Deputy Governor, Samuel Ode, described the project as a “golden gift” to the people, recalling the deaths and boat accidents that have occurred on the river over the years.

According to him, the bridge will equally serve agricultural communities, particularly the Sankera axis – a major yam-producing belt – by making it easier for farmers to move their produce to markets.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said such projects provide a practical response to critics of the Federal Government’s borrowing spree.

“Government has been accused of borrowing money, but we can see where the money is going into – to develop infrastructure, link communities and to ensure free flow of commerce,” Onanuga said.

Benue’s development strides extend beyond roads. About N20 billion has reportedly been invested in the Benue State University Teaching Hospital in the last three years, expanding specialist services, diagnostic facilities and manpower. A cancer centre is under construction, while the hospital’s In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) centre provides assisted reproductive treatment at a subsidised cost.

The Chief Medical Director, Dr. Terungwa S. Hwande, said the hospital is attracting patients from different states of the federation including Nasarawa, Taraba, Kogi, Enugu and the FCT, Abuja.

The state is also seeking to translate its agricultural advantage into industrial activity through the rehabilitation of Taraku Mills and the development of the Food Basket Brewery and other processing ventures for job creation and value addition from agricultural production.

In Kogi State, the ongoing Iyale-Ogane-Enugu Road in Dekina Local Council reflects government’s efforts to connect rural communities with markets.

Residents of Otutulu and neighbouring farming settlements expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the long-awaited road.

Amodu Joseph Silvas said the project has restored confidence in the communities that had endured years of unfulfilled promises.

“This road has been the prayer of our forefathers. Unfortunately, many of them are not alive to witness what we are seeing today. It is a thing of joy for our people because government remembered us.

“We are grateful to President Tinubu for supporting the governor. We also appreciate Governor Ododo for using the resources available to him to remember communities like ours,” Silvas said.

The road is expected to improve transportation of farm produce from the hinterland where poor transportation had led to post-harvest losses and discouraged agricultural activity.

In Benue State, the deputy governor pledged to deliver one million votes for Tinubu in 2027. According to him, the state hopes to achieve this by ensuring that it fulfils its 2023 campaign promises.

The media tour, launched recently to enable journalists inspect federal and state projects under the Renewed Hope Agenda, has provided opportunities to examine the link between federal reforms, increased state revenues and projects being delivered across the states.

Says Tinubu removed subsidy, retained the racket and handed Nigerians the bill

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has fired back at President Bola Tinubu, describing his attack on Atiku’s proposed petroleum-sector intervention as the insolent sermon of a failed economic experimenter who mistakes Nigerians’ capacity to endure suffering for evidence that his policies are working.

In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said there was an almost comical audacity in Tinubu calling anyone economically ignorant after presiding over an economy where government revenues have ballooned while citizens’ purchasing power has collapsed.

Shaibu said: “If economic ignorance had a presidential seal, Tinubu and his family would be its official logo. Here is an administration that detonated simultaneous fuel-price, exchange-rate and cost-of-living shocks across a fragile economy, watched millions become poorer, and now struts around Abuja demanding applause for the wreckage.

“That is not reform. It is economic arson followed by propaganda about the ashes.

“Tinubu’s courtiers may clap because FAAC allocations have increased, but hungry Nigerians cannot boil FAAC figures for dinner. Businesses cannot power factories with presidential speeches, workers cannot pay transport fares with macroeconomic grammar, and parents cannot settle school fees with statistics manufactured for State House applause.

“A government that grows richer while its citizens grow poorer is not reforming an economy. It is extracting from its people.

“Tinubu should therefore spare Nigerians the economics lecture. A man who set the house on fire cannot ridicule another man for redesigning the fire extinguisher.”

Atiku added: “Tinubu and his gang of jesters should acquaint themselves with elementary economics before accusing anyone of ignorance. Economic prescriptions respond to prevailing conditions. Even a first-year economics student understands ceteris paribus — other things being equal.

“But other things are no longer equal in Tinubu’s Nigeria.

“Apparently fresh from a bowl of amala, Tinubu mounted the podium at Eagle Square and casually declared that ‘subsidy is gone’ without a credible transition plan or adequate protection against the inflationary consequences.

“Those three words were not economic policy. They were economic vandalism by presidential fiat.

“Petrol prices exploded. Transportation and production costs followed. The naira depreciated sharply. Food prices soared. Businesses buckled and household purchasing power was decimated.

“Having destroyed the economic assumptions upon which previous prescriptions rested, Tinubu’s propagandists now accuse Atiku of inconsistency for responding to the disaster they created.

“That is not inconsistency. That is economics. Only incompetence insists on yesterday’s prescription after today’s conditions have changed.

“Atiku is not proposing the resurrection of the corrupt, open-ended subsidy bazaar. He proposes a targeted, capped, budgeted, time-bound and independently audited production-support mechanism tied to domestic production and protected against arbitrage.

“The difference is simple: Tinubu pronounced first and searched for a plan afterwards. Atiku studied the consequences and produced a solution.

“But there is an even greater hypocrisy in Tinubu’s subsidy sermon.

“Tinubu told Nigerians subsidy was dead. Yet NNPC’s audited accounts reportedly contain approximately ₦17.5 trillion in energy-security costs and petroleum under-recoveries, including about ₦7.13 trillion classified as Energy Security and ₦8.67 trillion in under-recoveries.

“So what exactly did Tinubu remove?

“If subsidy is dead, why are under-recoveries alive? If corruption was eliminated, why has opacity survived?

“Tinubu has given Nigerians the worst of both worlds: he removed the relief but retained the opaque costs. Nigerians got the pain; government kept the bill.

“Now that Tinubu tells Nigerians that one of the great achievements of subsidy removal is that states which previously struggled to pay salaries now receive larger FAAC allocations, he must realise that this argument is economically shallow and, worse still, an admission of developmental failure.”

“You do not build a federation by impoverishing citizens so that Abuja can send bigger cheques to governors. That is robbing households to subsidise governments.

“If the price Nigerians must pay for governors to meet their basic obligations is crushing transport costs, diminished purchasing power, food inflation and deepening poverty, then Tinubu has merely transferred solvency from the kitchen tables of ordinary families to government treasuries.

“Worse still, this FAAC bonanza creates the wrong incentives. States should develop competitive economies, attract investment, exploit their comparative advantages, broaden their productive tax bases and create wealth. Instead, Tinubu is deepening an Abuja dependency economy where governors can wait every month for increasingly fat allocations from the centre.

“Why undertake difficult reforms, industrialise or expand productive capacity when Abuja provides an ever-growing monthly cheque?

“That is not fiscal federalism. It is fiscal sedation and rascality.

“There is no economic morality in making a market woman poorer so that a governor can receive a bigger allocation. There is no developmental wisdom in emptying household pockets merely to fatten government accounts while Nigerians still confront bad roads, inadequate hospitals, failing schools and unemployment.

“Tinubu did not solve the structural weakness of the states. He simply threw more money at it and sent the bill to Nigerians.

“And since the Presidency has suddenly discovered the speed to respond to Atiku, let it show similar enthusiasm in explaining the approximately ₦30 trillion in Federation Account revenues, deductions, savings and transfers that Atiku has demanded be reconciled, as well as the ₦12.8 trillion Service-Wide Vote in the 2026 budget.

“You cannot scream ‘hoax’ at a proposal designed to ease hardship and suddenly become deaf and dumb when confronted with questions of fiscal opacity, alleged budget padding and questionable expenditure.

“If Tinubu can mobilise an army of propagandists to attack Atiku within hours, surely he can find one accountant to explain his books.

“Tinubu removed subsidy supposedly to save money, floated the naira and piled taxes and levies on Nigerians. Federation revenues ballooned, yet citizens became poorer.

“Economic reform is not measured by how fat government accounts become while citizens grow poorer. An economy exists to serve human beings, not family and friends.

“The real ignorance is believing suffering is economic policy. Tinubu removed the subsidy from Nigerians’ pockets, but he is yet to remove the questions from his books.

“Nigerians have paid enough for Tinubunomics. They should not be sentenced to another four years of the bitter experiment.”
