Below is a chart that shows the steep charge curve used by the Hyper Charge system

Phones / Infinix Note 12 VIP Arrives With 120W Charging, 120hz Screen And 108MP Camera by kwinbeee: 9:45am On May 17, 2022
Today, Infinix is breaking the 100W charging barrier with a new member of the Note 12 series. The phone also boasts a 120Hz display and a 108MP camera. Alongside it comes another model that will slot in just above the original Note 12.

The Infinix Note 12 VIP supports 120W Hyper Charge. The 0-100% charging time is just 17 minutes, thanks to the dual charge pump setup. If you can't wait that long, a quick 10 minute top-up is good enough for 6 hours of gaming of 5 hours of streaming YouTube videos.

Speed shouldn’t be confused with haste, however. The 4,500mAh battery is looked after by 103 protection features in the phone and charger, including 18 temperature sensors inside the phone. According to Infinix, the VIP’s battery will retain 85% of its capacity after 800 charge cycles.

The phone has a 6.7” AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, similar to the original Note 12 display, but noticeably more capable. This is a 10-bit panel with 100% DCI-P3 coverage and 120Hz refresh rate (plus 360Hz touch sampling rate).

Another upgrade exclusive to the VIP is that the main camera on the back has a 108MP sensor (1/1.67”, 1.92µm pixels after 9-in-1 pixel binning). Also new is the 13MP ultrawide-angle camera as well as the Laser AF system

The second new model for today is the Infinix Note 12 (G96). It is named after the Helio G96, a 12nm chipset (2x A76, 6x A55, Mali-G57 MC4). This same chip also powers the Note 12 VIP, but the VIP has better cooling with 9 layers of graphene plus a vapor chamber, while the Note 12 (G96) has 10 layers of graphene and no chamber. Either way, the G96 will outperform the Helio G88 that is inside the regular Note 12.

Chipset aside, the Note 12 (G96) sticks close to the specifications of the original Note 12. This means that the 6.7” FHD+ AMOLED display lacks a high refresh rate and 10-bit support. Also, the camera on the rear has a 50MP main sensor (1/2.8”) and a 2MP helper (no ultra wide). Compared to the VIP, the battery is slightly larger at 5,000mAh, but slower to charge (33W).

The two new Note 12 models have 16MP selfie cameras and XOS 10.6 software (based on Android 12). Also, both have 8GB of real RAM and can enable 5GB of virtual RAM. And while both have dual speakers with DTS, only the VIP has dual X-axis linear motors for superior haptic feedback.

Phones / Infinix Note 12i Quietly Launches With 90hz IPS LCD,50MP Camera&5,000mah Battery by kwinbeee: 1:47pm On May 12, 2022
A new Infinix model has appeared in Kenya – the Infinix Note 12i. It is a more affordable alternative to the Note 12 and a follow-up to the Note 11i (though not a strict upgrade).

The phone arrives with a 90Hz IPS LCD and while it is fairly large at 6.82”, it is smaller than the 6.95” 11i display. Anyway, the higher refresh rate is the upgrade, but the cost of that is that the resolution dropped from FHD+ to 1,640 x 720 px.

This model is powered by the same Helio G85 chipset (12nm, 2x A75 + 6x A55, Mali-G52 MC2) as the Note 11i. It is paired with 4GB of RAM and 3GB of virtual RAM. Storage has been doubled to 128GB (while retaining the microSD slot) and you get Android 12 out of the box (skinned with XOS 10.6).

The Note 12i has a new camera starring a 50MP sensor with a bright f/1.6 aperture (replacing the 48MP, f/1.8 camera of the 11i), matching the Note 12 camera setup. This also includes a 2MP aux camera and an additional QVGA model (function unknown).

Video recording tops out at 1440p at 30fps as before. On the front is an 8MP selfie camera, which is a downgrade from the 16MP cameras on the vanilla 12 and the 11i.

The phone runs on a 5,000mAh battery, which supports 18W fast charging. The charger is included in the box along with a USB A-to-C cable, a pair of headphones (to use with the 3.5mm jack) and even a basic protective case. Another note about audio, there are stereo speakers on board with DTS audio support.

The Infinix Note 12i is already available in some regions. For example, in Kenya it costs KES 20,500 ($175/€170/₹13,500). For comparison, the regular Note 12 (with a 6.7” FHD+ AMOLED display and Helio G88) is KES 24,000. The Note 11i was KES 18,500. You should also be able to find the 12i in Nigeria where it appears to be pricier at NGN 100,700 ($245). The model is available in three colors: Sunset Golden, Jewel Blue and Force Black.

Phones / Leaked Photos Show A New Infinix Note Model With 108MP Camera,120w Fast Charging by kwinbeee: 11:58am On May 06, 2022
Infinix announced a trio of new devices last week, including the Note 12. It seems that this was only the start of a new series as an anonymous tipster sent us images of a new model along with some information about it.

Our source tells us that this is part of the Note series and judging from what we know, it will be a higher-end offering than the vanilla 12 – a sequel to the Infinix Note 11 Pro, perhaps.

You can see the 108 MP label on the back, that’s quite an upgrade over the 50 MP 1/2.8” sensor of the Note 12. Also, there is an extra camera and judging by the “12-24 mm” marking, it will be an ultra wide module (the vanilla Note only got a 2 MP depth sensor extra). Infinix previously used a 108 MP sensor on the Zero X Pro (an ISOCELL HM2).

Anyway, our tipster says that this Note model will probably be powered by the Helio G96. Compared to the G88 found inside the vanilla model, this means faster CPU cores (using two A76 cores instead of two A75), a similar Mali-G57 MC2 GPU and support for 108 MP sensors.

Last year we tested an Infinix concept phone that supported 160W fast charging. However, no production Infinix has broken the 100W barrier yet – something that might change with the new Note.

If our info is correct, the company has been testing 120W fast charging for this model. We don’t know the battery capacity or the 0-100% charge time, but it will be much faster than the regular Note 12 (which has a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W charging support).

There is no word on the exact launch date yet, but it should be fairly soon.

Phones / The Hot 12 Is The First Infinix Smartphone With Google Android 12 Out Of The Box by kwinbeee: 12:43pm On Apr 21, 2022
Infinix Hot 12 with MediaTek Helio G85 CPU is now selling in some Africa countries. The device does not only have a good and acceptable CPU, but also the very first Infinix phone to boot Google Android 12 OS out of the box.

The model sport a large 6.82-inches screen with 720 x 1640 pixels. It is an IPS panel, and there is a dot notch atop the screen with 90Hz refresh and a 180 sampling rates. The aforementioned Android 12 is running underneath Infinix’s XOS 10.6, which is an upgrade to the XOS 10 released with the Note 11-series.

Only a 128GB storage version of the phone has been listed, and it is backed by 4GB RAM. The RAM, through software manipulation, is expandable up to 11GB, and there is a space for micro SD-card as well, should you run out of memory.

Camera specs are not as interesting as the CPU though. You are getting almost similar lenses used on the Hot 12i. These includes a 13MP main snapper, 2MP depth and a third AI sensor, along with 4-LED lights on the rear. The Hot 12 also has an 8-megapixel selfie cam on the front, and two frontal LED lights are available as well.

Infinix Hot 12 Key Specification
Display: 6.82-inch (720 x 1640 pixels) HD+ display with 20.5:9 aspect ratio
CPU: Octa-Core 2.0GHz MediaTek Helio G85 CPU with Mali-G52 GPU
Storage and RAM: 128GB and 4GB RAM; expandable up to 256GB via microSD
OS: Android 12 XOS 10.6
Camera: Triple: 13MP main with f/1.8 and 4-LED flash, 2MP Depth, QVGA AI sensor
Front camera: 8MP selfie with 2-LED flash
Video recording: 1080/720p@30fps (Back/Front)
Connectivity: Dual Nano-SIM: GSM / HSPA / LTE
Other Features: Micro USB 2.0 (unconfirmed) / Side fingerprint scanner
Battery: Built-in 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charger.

Infinix Hot 12 pricing and availability
The Hot 12 is available in four colors, including White Legend, Black, Blue Origin and Lemon Green. The phone is already on sales in Morocco, and it is priced at 1,830 Moroccan Dirham, an equivalent of $185 US Dollars. The device should make it to other African markets starting from next week.
