The Joint Admissions & Matriculation Board (JAMB) has set up its website / portal to handle its 2013 Registration. You can visit the portal at www.jamb.org.ng/Unifiedtme From the above Jamb link, you can see that the portal is currently active and loading which means accredited registration scratch cards dealers will soon be given a license to operate throughout the federation. The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Dare Oladujoye, a driver with Zenith Bank, for allegedly being in possession of 19 Guaranty Trust Bank ATM cards and the sum of N652, 000. Naija Current News learnt that the suspect was using the cards to withdraw money from an ATM at Ogba branch of GTB when a security guard raised the alarm. Oladujoye and items recovered from him. The Commissioner of Police for the state police command, Mr. Umar Manko, said as of the time of his arrest, the suspect had withdrawn N652, 000 from the ATM. Manko said, “On July 26, 2012, around 8:30pm, there was a distress call that there was commotion at GTB, Ogba branch. On getting there, the suspect was seen with 19 ATM cards. “He is an employee of Zenith Bank and we wondered what he was doing with the 19 cards. He was arrested and as of the time of his arrest, he had cashed N652, 000. The matter is under investigation.” The suspect however denied stealing the ATM cards. Commercial sex workers, otherwise known as prostitutes are angry the ongoing Ramadam fasting being embarked on by Muslim faithful across the country has SLOWED business for them. According to those in the business of bed-to-wealth, the fasting period has crippled their business. When we visited one of their bases in Ejigbo, a suburb of Lagos, the visibly angry ladies were seen siting at different locations, discussing their fate. On enquiry, a lady identified as Rose from Edo lamented, “Oga, since morning, na only one person I don do, unlike before, I for don do like 16 or so. Na Raamadam . ” She said. When prodded further, the enraged lady said, “Oga I no come count bridge for Lagos, if u wan support my ministry tell me, I go ‘do’ you well.” In Ikotun, prostitutes lamented that their customers no longer pick their calls, “since Ramadan fasting started, my regular customer, Waidi refused picking my calls, and its painful and unfair. They should consider our own side too”, said Joy, a native of Akwa Ibom.

John Atta Mills, Ghana’s president, has died a few hours after being taken ill,in a statement from the president’s office and officials said. Mills, 68, died on Tuesday in the capital Accra and will be succeeded by Vice-President John Dramani Mahama under Ghana’s constitution, officials said. He had celebrated his 68th birthday only last Saturday. “It is with a heavy heart … that we announce the sudden and untimely death of the president of the Republic of Ghana,” a statement sent to the Reuters news agency by the president’s office said. Mills had won international praise as leader of a stable model democracy in Africa, and Ghana remains the only Sub Saharan country Barack Obama, the US president, has visited as recognition for its democratic credentials. The unexpected death of the leader of the world’s second-largest producer of cocoa comes months before he was due to stand for re-election in December. Ghana, also a major African gold producer, started pumping oil in 2010 and posted double-digit growth in 2011. The president’s office said that Mills died a few hours after being taken ill, but no further details were given. A presidential aide, who asked not to be named, said the president had complained of pains on Monday evening and died early on Tuesday afternoon when his condition worsened. |
