an0daGuy: Hmm dem don dey near aso rock small small.
Very soon buhari go relax dey chew him gworo for balcony come look downstairs see bandits dey set bomb for him gate and dey gesture for am to come open door for them quick quick OR . . .
SlyfoxxjReturns: Shut up idiottt. You have talked so much crap you forgot how the argument started. You jumped into my mentions chastising me for saying Ice prince no longer makes waves because rap music in Nigeria is dead. Check your post history l foool. This is what you were offended by initially. Since then you have changed position like 10 times to the point of just rambling incoherently now. Mumu. Go take a seat.
Hello again illiterate ice Prince cannot rap he is one of the fakest rappers im talking about. mi is African rapper number one and you are just an idiot
SlyfoxxjReturns: Dumbass which big 3? Hahahaha. My whole point in this stupid argument is to let you know that NO rapper in Nigeria now is “big” because rap music doesn’t move the market here anymore. That’s why many former rappers like Olamide and skales have made the switch to Afro-pop. It’s like you’re deaf or something.
Almost all those rappers I mentioned are still active and releasing records but they just don’t get traction anymore like they did in 2002-2010 period when the rap industry was on fire. You don’t even know any of them because you were still sucking mummy’s breast back then LOL.
You are really dumb and always off point my whole argument is that mi music is still on point and doing well Vector is doing well where it matters too. you have consistently agreed with me that rap is no longer big anymore but you are still arguing crap. You should not have mentioned mi's name in a thread talking about failed or forgotten musicians. That he's no longer number one is irrelevant his songs are still top 10 when they drop.
SlyfoxxjReturns: Olodo. You’ve lost the argument you started now talking rubbish. Dumb slowpoke. You said MI came out before any of the guys I listed which included rugged man and Da grin. No go talk for outside bro. Dem go just stone you bottle.
M.I has many fathers in the Nigerian rap industry. He is a small boy who blew in 2008 when people like trybes men were tearing up the streets since 2002. Even Naeto-C blew in 2006. Knighthouse, storm records and 419 squad sef day. Bro go sit down jare. Small boy that don’t know nothing.
Don’t be thinking everyone here is a novice. I have been a hip hop and music fan since before you were born so show respect.
illiterate asshole all along I was obviously talking about the big three now not ancient and retired rappers you are the one bringing out ancients, offpoint as usual.
SlyfoxxjReturns: At this point just shut up because you are revealing your ignorance about Nigerian music the more you speak. For the record, let me tell you I am a big hip hop fan but Nigerians do not appreciate rap music and no pure rap artiste can compete with the top Afro-pop artistes in this country and that’s just the reality of the market weather you like it or not.
We do have very talented rappers; from ice prince to M.I to rugged man to Olamide to Reminisce all the way back to trybes men, ElDee, Da Grin, terry the rap man, Mode9, Falz, Sauce Kid, D’Prince, Phyno, Muna, Teeto Cemos, Sasha. I can go on forever. All of the above either never really blew, faded away or have tweaked their style to incorporate Afro-pop and cater to the current market realities. So you have no idea what you are saying when you say Nigerian hip hop was never alive or we don’t have good rappers. Even Wizkid started as a rapper and did a rap freestyle on Jimmy Jatts jump off which was the first time I saw him in like 2007 mumu. I’m sure you don’t know that.
Rap was hot in Naija until like 2010 when afro-pop really took off and all the rappers started to fade away. Dunce MI first album was in 2008 and it even had Wizkid on it. Wizkid then blew on a few collaborations after that before dropping his own album in 2010 or so. Davido dropped his own two years later in 2012. Burna boy had been releasing mix tapes all this while but never got recognition till he dropped “like to party” in 2012. What’s the difference between 2008 and 2012? Just four years. They all came in around same time brov. But today, 12-16 years later only the ones that stuck to Afro-pop are still making waves. All the rappers have fallen off.
Pls you know nothing about the industry. Just shut up and stop embarrassing yourself.
idiot stop talking nonsense they faded away because they don't have any content n can barely rap
you are an slowpoke mi still came out long enough before any of these other guys n was big enough before them and I'm telling you that even though you live in a village mi is still ok in Nigeria at least even if he's not number one anymore.
You are really dumb because because you have agreed that rap is not big anymore but you are still arguing nonsense. I'm trying to tell you that most Nigerian wannabe rappers were wack to begin with with weak schoolboy punchlines except indigenous rappers. Don't mention any stupid names for me I can't listen to most of them.
SlyfoxxjReturns: You are a bigger villager who crawled out of the gutter if you don’t know Burner Boy has been around since when MI was hot. Even Wizkid blew around the same time as M.I, and Davido blew a few years later. They are all contemporaries in the industry and not two different generations like you making it sound. So why are Burner, David and Wiz still banging 12 years later and MI and Vector aren’t? Doesn’t that indicate the declining audience for hip hop in Nigeria to you?
I know they are still releasing music and getting few spins on the radio BUT they can never make it to that number 1 spot in Nigeria again simply because the market for their style of music just isn’t there anymore. Mumu continue arguing facts with your keyboard.
I can see you're stiill being a village idiot.
Bleep number one spot nobody is doing competition with you. Is Mariah Carey or 2face still in number one spot like they were when they started.
mi still released several singles last year and this year if they were not number one at least top ten here in Lagos Nigeria's top music market. he released an awesome collabo with vector after 2 years of beef that made waves here.
I'd rather listen to his music any day than any of these afrobeats pangolo singers like Rema kizz etc.
Fyi I think mi came out long before burna boy e t c.
sure Nigerian hip-hop is quite dead but was it ever alive to begin with. that's what makes mi awesome because his music / career is not dead even now, except to tone deaf cretinous villagers like you.
Honestly do we really have any good rappers in Nigeria there are very few. Indigenous rappers r much better than American wannabes.
Mi is African rapper number one. Please go and listen to your pangolo music. Tone-deaf illiterate talking nonsense
SlyfoxxjReturns: The kind of anger you people pour out on the most trivial of topics really epitomizes the frustration of Nigerians youth.
Also your inability to read and comprehend epitomizes our poor education system.
When last did MI or Vector release a number one single? When last did either of them release any record that’s made waves on the level of Davido and burner boy recently. I don’t even know the other so called rappers you mentioned which proves my point that Nigerians are no longer into hip hop. Olamide said so himself when people asked why he now does Afro pop. Skales said the same thing that rap doesn't sell in Nigeria.
So if professionals in the industry can say it, I don’t know who is one random Labi1977 on Nairaland to say otherwise. Ode.
You're a villager that's why you don't know the people I mentioned sorry
I don't know which village or local government you are living in but in Lagos mi and vector received massive airplay last year and this year for their music. You can't expect mi to be as hot as when he started but honestly his music is better now and more matured. If you are doing well on Lagos airwaves then you are big enough no cap.
Burna is very hot right now you can't compare him to anyone except other top alists but he will lose everything if it continues acting like a fool
PrinceMajestic: I think their time has passed. Usually Nigeria musicians don't maintain their fame for long because they don't have real musical ideas, their music majorly Yoruba oriented and are only enjoyed in the most popular Lagos and Yoruba people as well as the mentally lame folks Nationwide so other musicians just come with the same Yoruba love noise and people abandon the old ones for them so even the new guys trending for you all now will soon fade out. I am yet to listen to all my Kendrick Lamar albums, J.cole albums, Drake, Tyga, all the uncountable 2pac doets, Jay z, fabulous, J.rock, ASAP Rocky, school boy q, Bryson tiller etc I'm yet to enjoy them to my satisfaction so what the hell will Naija artists and their Yoruba gibberish songs about bitches be doing on my playlists? The lame ducks are popular because majority of the masses are so dumb i guess, my country people love to make stupid lame musicians popular because the trash they dish out corresponds with the mentality of an average Naija youth.
Your first sentence is ok the rest shows that you're a bloody idiot. Slave to American rappers many on drugs and destined for jail or early grave.
SlyfoxxjReturns: Tell me one rapper still making waves in Nigeria apart from those that compromised and started doing Afro-pop like Olamide.
Ice prince didn’t do anything wrong. He just refused to compromise his style. That’s why he as well as others like Mode9 and M.I went the way of the dodo.
The Nigerian masses had a brief flirtation with hip hop but it didn’t last long before they tossed it aside for Afro-pop. That’s why no pure rappers are making it today.
Op and your comments are confused and rubbish
mi is still the best African rapper number one no cap -- followed by nasty c. Black sheriff is also very hot right now.
Mi and Vector still released hit songs last year I'm sure Mi has done one hot song this year stop misyarning
Most of the people op mentioned r alive and well and still releasing good music but it's called five minutes of fame for a reason
PrinceofAnambra: The killings is retaliation against the Southwest in general and against Akeredolu in particular as SGF president spearheading anti-grazing ban laws in the South. We already know who the enemies outside and inside are. They will face the wrath of the law for their actions. Southwest governors are not cowards.
The enemy already said we should not expect peace when anti-grazing laws are passed and enforced. Today, we also make our own declaration that the enemy too will never know peace, but they will know justice. They will know what justice and vengeance means very, very soon.
