He actually inherited $48 billion and degraded it down to $29 billion by May 28 2015. 48-29=18

What did Okonjo and Jona do with $18 billion? This is on top of the Trillions he borrowed and the largest oil earnings in the history of Nigeria.

Even with all that, Jona still introduced austerity measures.

The most important question is? Who created the need and necessity for states to be bailed out with government funds?

It doesn't matter how you spin, cut and dice it, fact remains that Jona depleted our reserves down to $29 billion.

Jona was borrowing at least N100 billion monthly from his 1st year in office and by the 2nd year, he's borrowed over N2 Trillion.

By his 2nd year in office when oil was selling at positive peak of $116 and oil windfall, Jona and Okonjo warned us to get ready for recession. Why?

By 2014, Jona and Okonjo introduced Austerity measure

By 2015, Jona and Okonjo borrowed over N450 billion to pay workers salaries.

What about the $2 billion Jona and Okonjo stole that DASUKI ATM shared with their crooked and corrupt cronies.

So, at what point during Jona and Okonjo's term in office was the economy better managed and Nigeria's checkbook was in black, solvent and positive.

What part?

Jona not only borrowed from his 1st day in office, he borrowed till his last day in office and it was so bad that they borrowed to pay salaries.
When you borrow, it accumulates. What was the figure he added to our total debt?

What is the figure now that we are not borrowing?

Please note that foreign reserve doesn't amount to savings rather excess crude reserve. The truth is that the opposition was responsible for sharing the excess crude reserve.

Good, you corrected those forgery you quoted with recklessness.

We measure government policies with effects on the people and there are positives with Jonathan's but everything with Buhari is retrogressive, negative and biting.

@LadyExcellency, quit trying to be clever by half, you aren't talking to children or dunces. Let's try an expose your deceit, those figures you quoted there, can you kindly quote the dates beside those figures?... The last time I checked, Nigeria's foreign reserves as at May 29th 2015 was about $28.6 billion; so in you post when you said "AS AT NOW", what date exactly was the "NOW" you were referring to? No

By the way, I quoted figures which I am still eagerly waiting for you or anyone to dispute, you should have boldly mentioned me when you made the above post with those fraudulent figures instead of hiding by quoting someone else. Of course you couldn't directly face me to dispute my figures because they are simple facts which can very easily be verified by anyone via a google search.

Meanwhile @Whynotthetruth, the worst form of ignorance is the proud type. If I am wrong, I will be very happy t take correction if presented with verifiable facts and superior argument. You keep blabbing about facts, facts and facts but can't even supply a single one. If you truly have those verifiable figures which contradicts what I put up earlier, a smart person would have simply presented them instead of bleating about with insults. That you even endorsed the deceitful post by @LadyExcellency, that speaks volumes of your own level of knowledge. And you have the guts to think someone else is deluded? Tufia!
I just put it to you that you were lying.

You said Jonathan inherited $60b. Is it true or false.

Where did Buhari got the money for bailout?

NLNG royality made during Jonathan administration was $5 billion. The truth is nobody calculated what we had as at May 29th because it wasn't month ending hence APC wanted Nigerians to think that the purse was empty while the Allocations were monthly based.

NB. I wasn't trying to deceive anybody with my figures because I posted a link for verification. Moreover, as much as I want to win a debate, I want us to be factual.

The $60b he is quoting is fictitious and moreover, take foreign bonds and loans arbitrarily and putting them in CBN isn't growing reserve or ECA rather mortgaging our future.

The ECA under Obasanjo wasn't anything near $60B and Secondly the State Governments went to court to affirm the illegality of ECA.

Do you by chance mistake external reserve for Excess Crude Account? Because reserve in Naira can be equivalent to Dollar multiplied by exchange rate.

Selling European bonds and putting the "loans" collected from world banks and several countries in central bank doesn't make the money necessarily a savings.

That guy wasnt wrong; just about all the great achievements NOI made under OBJ were reversed under GEJ, and that was because GEJ as the boss couldnt hold things together.

Is it in terms of national debt?.. is in terms of the ECA or the foreign reserves?... NOI cleared all the nation's debts under OBJ and was able to accru national savings up to $60bn. But in a period when Nigeria enjoyed the largest unprecedented oil boom, national debts grew steadily to higher levels than it was before being cleared and no defined projects can be pointed out which those debts were used for. Similarly for foreign reserves and ECA, under OBJ NOI supervised these accounts growing from about $5bn to over $60bn. But under GEJ, the same NOI saw that same $60bn vaporize down to $30bn at a time when Nigeria earned its largest income.

Talking of economic indices all looking good under GEJ, that was just a function of high oil prices, high oil income and indiscriminate spending. When excess money is in the system and it's being spent indiscriminately, it tends to show positively on the economic indices like GDP growth rates et al. The real report card on whether the money was well 'spent or not usually shows up when the excess money supply dries up; and that takes us to late 2014/early 2015 when contractors started being owed, billions of dollars were being borrowed to pay salaries, next to nothing was being budgeted for capital expenditure in 2015 etc.

Some might pop up the "biggest economy in Africa" story, but that certaintly isnt an achievement which could have happened under a year of GEJ's rule; it is something which was built up over several years prior to 2010. In a nutshell, like I said before, all the great achievements of NOI happened when she was under obj, and those achievements were largely reversed when she served under gej.
Reasonable and analytical people went out from Nairaland and we now have these nonsensical twisting of fact.

When you don't have enough information to criticize the government of Abia State pertaining to this issue, keep shut.

Read the piece below to understand what the institution is wallowing in, worst than bankruptcy

The Abia State government has finally reacted to the sack of 500 staff of the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, tagging it a ‘Sanitization for greater efficiency’.

It will be recalled that the management of Abia Poly has temporally disengaged about 500 academic and non-academic members of staff of the institution.

This is following a report by a committee set up by the Abia State Government to investigate their certificates, ages and the authenticity of their employment.

It was learnt that the names of the affected workers were on Monday removed from the payroll of the school on the orders of the management.

Reacting over the report, the state government, in a statement through the commissioner for Information, John Okiyi Kalu, said it had not received any information that the institution has sacked any of its workers.

He said; Our attention has been drawn to media reports alleging that Abia State Government sacked more than 500 workers of Abia State Polytechnic (Abiapoly) Aba on Friday January 12th, 2018 and we wish to state as follows:

1. While Abia state government is aware of ongoing efforts by the management of Abiapoly to sanitize the institution and reposition it for greater operational efficiency, the institution operates as an independent parastatal.

2. Information available to us indicate that as at today, 13th January, 2018, no worker of the institution has received disengagement notice of any kind. It is therefore false to state that any staff of the institution has been sacked or disengaged as a result of the ongoing operational review.

3. We are aware that the management of the institution have been investigating sundry issues bothering on presentation of forged or fake certificates, falsification of age, overstaffing of some units, presentation of first leaving certificates that indicate that the holder already had the certificate at age 3-9, which is naturally impossible, as well as the employment of unqualified teaching and non teaching staff.

4. Abia state government supports any fair, legal and equitable measure taken by the management of the institution to sanitize the institution and re-position it to be able to deliver better quality graduates, pay workers as at when due and wean itself of operational dependence on government financial support for survival.

5. When the current government came on board, we liquidated a N2b loan taken by the institution at commercial rates after the Board and management of the institution promised that relieving it of the loan burden and its associated high interest rate will ensure the school run smoothly with internally generated revenue from students school fees and other sources.

6. Even after removing the burden of the debilitating loan from the institution, the government continued to support the payment of workers wages with monthly subventions of N90m in addition to school fees collected by the institution. It is important to note that as a parastatal established under law, Abiapoly does not remit any portion of its internally generated revenue to the state government and the government is not responsible for the payment of the workers of the institution, but instead pays subventions to the school to cushion revenue inflow shortfalls.

7. The government expects that with sanitization and restructuring of the institution it will cease to be the drainpipe and cesspool of corruption that has stunted its growth into a first class institution worthy of the number one education state in Nigeria.

8. Abia State Government also expect that where the ongoing reviews throw up issues bothering on crimes, the management of the institution will not hesitate to hand over suspects to law enforcement agencies for prosecution.

9. It is instructive to note that following the sanitization of Abia State University Uturu, by the current management, the institution is up to date with workers salary even when subventions from the state is delayed.

10. Abia State Government is aware of attempts by unscrupulous politicians and their satellites masquerading as labor leaders to politicize the management review to score cheap political points. As a responsible government, we will resist such attempts in the interest of the people of Abia State and also ensure that no innocent person is unjustly affected by the ongoing internal review.

11. We therefore call on genuine staff and students of the institution to go about their normal duties and avoid being used by those who by their past actions and inactions brought the institution to its current state.

12. Our expectation is that the reviews and measures being contemplated by the management of Abia poly will ultimately lead to regular payment of workers wages and excellence in academic activities.

While Twitter tries to work out how to make money, a Spaniard has sold his username on the site for a six-figure sum.

In 2007 Israel Meléndez set up a Twitter account under his first name. This year he was approached by the state of Israel, which wanted to buy @Israel from him for a quantity of dollars that, he told Spain's Público newspaper, included "five zeroes".

The sale went through despite Twitter's stated policy of preventing username squatting and Meléndez, who runs adult websites for a living, said Twitter itself had advised the Israeli government on how this could be done.

"All the business of getting in contact with Twitter was done by them [Israel]," Meléndez said. "I never saw any emails [between them] and Twitter never contacted me, but if the @Israel account is open and working I imagine it means that Twitter had no problem with the transaction."

Meléndez said he set up the @Israel account when he stopped using another Twitter name to escape the attention of an ex-girlfriend. He barely used the account, which was soon flooded with messages criticising the policies of the Israeli government. Only recently did he decide to look at it again and found a message from the office of the Israeli prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, asking whether it could be bought.

He said he negotiated the deal with the Israeli foreign ministry's Chaim Shacham. "The negotiating lasted for two months but once everything was clear it was all simple. I went to the Israeli consulate in Miami and from there, by telephone, we closed the deal and the transaction."

He sold Israel his password, allowing them to close his account down and immediately reopen it, moving the Israeli foreign ministry's @israelMFA account to @israel on 26 August. "They got on the phone, I gave them the password, they saw that it worked and they gave me a cheque at the consulate," he said from his home in Miami.

Israel is not the first to find a way to purchase control of a Twitter account. The cable news service CNN was one of the first to manage it.

Twitter explains its rules on selling usernames like this: "Unless you have been specifically permitted to do so in a separate agreement with Twitter, you agree that you will not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, trade or resell."
