PICKING THE PERFECT WEDDING DATE
Choosing a wedding date is like a puzzle. Trying to fit together all of the different elements to consider can be a bit tricky, especially with 365 (or more) days to choose from. Here are the major things you should think about when choosing a wedding date.

CONSIDER THE SEASONS OF POTENTIAL WEDDING DATES. Perhaps the first thing to consider is what season you want to get married in. Rainy, sunny or harmattan seasons?

WHICH DAY OF THE WEEK? Do you definitely want a Saturday wedding, or do you want to save money by having it on a Sunday or weekday? If most of your wedding guests are in town and not traveling, you might also consider having a weekday wedding, when there will be discounts and more availability of locations.

MARKING SPECIAL OCCASIONS WITH YOUR WEDDING DATE. Many couples love the idea of getting married on Valentine’s Day (February 14th), or you could get married on the anniversary of the day you met, or honor your parents or grandparents by choosing their wedding date. (Not if your parents are divorced though). You could also get married on one of your birthdays.

MAKE SURE YOU AVOID CERTAIN WEDDING DATES. The last thing you want to do is have your wedding on an important religious holiday. You want wedding guests to be happily present, not resentful.

CONSULT KEY GUESTS. If your sister is writing her final exams or your parents will be out of the country, that’s not a good wedding date. Don’t worry about too many people, only those who absolutely must be there.

CONSULT YOUR FAVORITE WEDDING LOCATIONS AND VENDORS. If you really want your wedding ceremony at your church, or the reception at your city's most beautiful hall, you’ll want to make sure they’re available before you start sending out Save The dates.

CLIENT BRIEF vs CLIENT BUDGET
Everyone wants to save money these days. But there are always couples who expect a lavish party or event on a very strict budget. Good news! There are ways to keep your costs in check and still give your wedding a taste of luxury!

Set expectations early!

If you are planning the wedding yourself or you hire an event planner, your first duty is to set your expectations right off the bat. You need to understand that your budget won't get you everything you want. Talk with your spouse about where you are willing to scale back to save on costs, and where you want to spend the most. Have examples of some compromises ready for them to choose from.

CUT COST WHERE NECESSARY
LOCATION- An outdoor wedding would cost more than one done in a hall.

PRINTING- Instead of spending money on printing IV's, create a website for the event and send IV's via emails. Then print IV's for the very important people.

DECOR- Here's where many people break the bank without even intending to do so. Instead of flowers as centrepieces, you can use a simple candle arrangement.

AREAS YOU SHOULD NOT CUT COST ON
These 3 areas are where I would strongly discourage you to save cost on:
- FOOD
- ENTERTAINMENT
- PHOTOGRAPHY- You won't forgive yourself if you end up with bad pictures, even if the event didn't go as planned.
At La' Heiress, we find a meeting point between our client's brief and our client's budget, even with small budgets, we would finetune your brief to meet your expectations.

CREATING THE WEDDING BUDGET
The best plan for creating a wedding budget is taking a series of important steps before making your first plan or purchase. You can't create a realistic budget, without knowing approximately what things cost in your area. For instance, you don't want to create a budget and then get stunned when you find out that photography packages start at N150,000 in your area when you only budgeted N50,000 for that.

1. Do plenty of research, invest your time in meeting with all kinds of experts, getting printed price lists, and really knowing the ballparks of what everything costs. Then sit down and look at your available funds to figure out what kind of wedding you will have.

2. Talking with parents and relatives, to see if they will be willing and able to help pay for some of the wedding expenses or the whole wedding. (Not all parents can split the bill or foot the bill these days. Many offer to pay for the makeup or cake or the honeymoon, etc.)

3. Make a Priority List of which wedding elements are important to you (catering, entertainment, makeup, decoration, gown, and photos) and by doing the math, you decide you'll spend, say, 75% of your budget on those things, while spending less on (or doing without) the others. It may take a few steps and some extra time, but it's so worth it to create a good, flexible budget that keeps you reined in, yet still able to spend a little more than you planned for here and there without a ton of guilt. The best budgets are just there to guide you, not make you feel guilty or stressed...they're designed to keep you from losing control.

Happy new Month!

[quote author=ottoloan post=29621277]Hello guys my wedding is Coming up in 3weeks time....
But i have d following challange

1. Don't really know what to share to invitees as gifts.

2. How do i get drinks at cheaper rate?

3. Where can my wife and I visit for honey moon after wedding?
Need your advice please.

How much have you budgeted for this and where are the places you and your spouse talk about for your honeymoon. With a budget, I can suggest places to go and how to go about it. And as per the souvenirs, it can be anything from notepads, to paperbags, mugs, kitchen utensils, fancy bible markers, fancy soap cases, towels... it can be anything really depending on your pocket.

MAKING YOUR BRIDE HAPPY
Inspiration - #TayoAndDoyin2014

The big day is here, and it is the bride’s day to shine. There are so many things that could go wrong, but with the support of her friends, loved ones or a wedding coordinator/planner mishaps and emotional breakdowns can be avoided, and the day can end with a happy bride who will be forever thankful.

1. OFFER EMOTIONAL SUPPORT: Every wedding ceremony is different, as is every marriage. Sometimes brides can have this perfect picture in her head, and while we all hope for the best, life happens – even at your wedding ceremony. Try to be by her side and support her through the day. If things don’t seem to be going right, share a story of similar circumstances that you may have experienced.

2. MAKE SURE SHE IS THE STAR OF THE SHOW: Take extra care to go above and beyond her expectations. Remember, this is the day she has been dreaming about for most of her life! Is she a bride on a budget? Why not give her a gift of pampering? This especially holds true for bridesmaids. You are her emotional ‘body guards’ on this big day! She has been under immense pressure up to this point and really need all the support she can to go through the day.

3. WATCH YOUR WORDS: Everyone has their own opinions of how a wedding ceremony should go, how the bride and groom should look. You have to remember that the wedding day is not the day to criticize, or even add a friendly suggestion unless it is asked for. Your comment, no matter how helpful you intend for it to be, could end up being the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

4. KEEP THE PEACE. So maybe you don’t care for the choice she made for the maid of honor or whatever the case might be. Remember that there is a time and place for everything and this is not the time to throw unkind words to anyone at the ceremony.
