EXPENSIVE WEDDINGS- Is it really wise? You can look at your wedding in two ways: 1. A wedding day or 2. A first day of your married life. If you look at it as the first day of your married life, then you have to think in the best interest of your new family and set your family up from the first day for success as husband and wife and not sink your ship in financial debt. Buying the most expensive items, looking at the weddings you have attended and following the same venue styles/size, food, expensive wedding cakes, dresses, professional video/camera crew, entertainment, suits and more guests than anyone can handle. All of these items add up and the pressure cooker doesn’t rise until after the wedding day, when all the bills are sitting on your table and you have a headache like never before in your life. Then reality kicks in and you start to realize how you could have been wise on your wedding day and invested in the future of your marriage instead because trust me, it won't be fun with her if you cant put food on the table. If you are in it for the long haul and not just for the financial benefits, then enjoy yourselves but keep everything in perspective and don’t look at others to have fun at your own wedding. You will therefore have a more relaxed and enjoyable experience all together and you will still be a prince/princess for years to come rather than just on that day. I will end by saying, if you have the means for a lavish wedding and you are sure you will not starve after the 'one day event ', then you can decide to have an expensive wedding. But then again, is it wise? www.justbudgetweddings..com La' Heiress Hospitality Services Olamide~ The Heiress 08103193930 5155FEF3 olamide@la-heiress.com bakare.lamide@gmail.com |

You can use the remaining to resend or even call important people. As for the wedding gown, we omitted the fact that it was rented. For N10,000 to N15,000 you can rent a very decent wedding gown. helphelp:It all depends on how realistic you are with your expectations. And most importantly, your guest list. We specialize in Low Budget Weddings. Contact us 08103193930 olrotimi:EXACTLY!!! williams20:This is exactly what we have been preaching! olrotimi: Herzumpther:30k for makeup is actually a VERY good deal considering that professional makeup artists usually change from 60k up to 250k and above. kika23:Exactly!!! Not even only Jide of stOla. All the big makeup artists in Nigeria charge similar prices; we have done our research. watered:We love low cost vendors, as long as they don't compromise on quality. Please contact us on 08103193930 and let's discuss on how to work together. LewisO:Please follow our blog at www.justbudgetweddings..com We regularly list promos, deals and low cost vendors. Thank you IdJack:Yes, you can use friends/sisters, but family members might not do the job as effectively. (for example, their attention might be need for other things) Besides, for this particular bride, we were already using two of her sisters as event coordinators. Lastly, ushers add a touch of glamour, class and orderliness to your event. It is usually money well-spent. Otes26:If you know a caterer that can supply for at N300-400, please let us know! "HOW MUCH IS NEEDED TO PLAN A SMALL WEDDING IN NIGERIA?" I get asked this question a whole lot. I personally think that it is a wrong question to ask. Why? For one, I don't know how much you earn and do not run your accounts. Instead, I will suggest you ask something in line of: I have X amount, how can I make it work for a wedding? One thing you should know is that no matter how much you have, you can still have a great wedding if you are realistic on your expectations. You can't have it all but you can have it great. First thing first, come up with a budget. Read my article here on "Creating the wedding budget" for tips on how to create the wedding budget. THE N500,000 BUDGET WEDDING IN NIGERIA The first thing is to have a realistic guest list. You can't have N500,000 and want to host 500 people unless you don't want to feed them. Read here on how to trim your wedding guest list. For the N500,000 wedding, the bride had prioritized what was important to her, which was her makeup and the feeding. The couple agreed on 100 guests. I did not plan the wedding, neither did I coordinate. WHAT DID I DO? During the consultation, which took place about 6 months to the wedding just after their introduction, I advised them on how and where to cut costs and also introduced some vendors to them. The good thing was, they were open to my opinions and it made everything much easier. Here is the breakdown for the N500,000 wedding WEDDING DRESS AND BRIDAL ACCESSORIES- N15,000. WEDDING SHOES- she wore a silver shoe she already had. (She didn't change into a reception dress) WEDDING RINGS (bride and groom)- N6,500. (You can always buy more expensive rings after the wedding when you have more money) GROOM'S OUTFIT- 5,000 (wore a suit and shoe he already had, so he only bought a shirt and tie) BRIDAL HAIR AND NAILS- N3,500 (permed her hair and styled it into a tight bun, the doughnut way) MAKEUP (just bride)- N30,000 INVITATION CARDS -BULK SMS- N1,000 RECEPTION VENUE (open field) -N50, 000 RENTALS OF TABLES, CHAIRS AND CANOPIES- N20,000 DECORATION- N40,000 DJ- N30,000 (They didn't use a live band. The DJ played all kinds of songs even for the older generation) CAKE- N30,000 - 3 tiers of cake FOOD- N85,000 (N850 per plate, jollof and fried rice, amala, moin moin and 2 pieces of meat; with 5 servers, chaffing dishes, plates and cutlery) Caterer: Incredible Edibles DRINKS- N30,000 (water, soft drinks, with drums and ice blocks) PHOTOGRAPHY- N80,000 (full event coverage, one photobook, pre-wedding shoot, one DVD of all the pictures) Photographer: Xtrm Creations MC- friend of the groom N0.00 SOUVENIRS- N25,000 5 USHERS- N32,500 EVENT COORDINATION (N7,000)- La' Heiress trained two of the bride's sisters on what they needed to do a few weeks to the wedding and also on the wedding day. TOTAL COST- N490,500 Was it a successful wedding? Yes! Trust me when I tell you that it was hell getting some of the vendors that were willing to work with the prices but that is our job and that is where we come in. http://justbudgetweddings..com/2015/03/how-to-achieve-n500000-budget-wedding.html?utm_source=BP_recent |
I totally understand the ego part (I'm a lady). They are your friends, explain your situation to them. Some may even decide to get you a suit to wear and if not, u can help out with the groomsmen's duties, like helping in throwing a bach eve, help when going to get stuffs for the wedding, you can be his emotional support, coz plaNning a wedding can be a stressful process. Just be there for them in whatever way you can. I was in the same situation once, I followed the bride everywhere, to get her gown, bridesmaids outfits, her personal belongings, book the decorator and I was always available whenever she needed to talk or was confused about a particular thing (thanks to my wedding planning skills). Hope this helps. Good luck! |
I saw a similar post here sometimes last year and I replied. I got a feature not only on their blog but on all their platforms. To think that that singular act changed my business forever. I got a few potential clients that I was able to tell about my business to, from the same platform, I got 2 actual clients and referrals. It actually worked for me. Thought to share this story coz it just might work for you. And the best part is, it's FREE. www.justbudgetweddings..com GOODLUCK!

flipboss:Congrats on your forthcoming wedding. For your chosen colours, you can wear a navy blue suit and use a tangerine coloured slim tie/bow tie and pocket square. Wear a white shirt; plain preferrably. Leave the champagne gold out of it; you don't need to use all the colours picked for the wedding. Pair up with black shoes and a black belt. Let the best man wear the same suit colour as yours. For your groomsmen, let them wear black suits and use tangerine ties and pocket squares. You guys would look smashing! Cheers. CHOOSING THE WEDDING RING WHAT MATERIAL IS RIGHT FOR ME? Wedding rings comes in different metals, silver, gold, platinum, titanium, wood. A number of factors will determine the options available to you: BUDGET. Silver, wood and titanium rings tend to be priced at the lower end of the spectrum. 9ct gold rings tend to come next and then 18ct gold, with 22ct gold and platinum rings fetching the highest prices. DURABILITY. If you’re looking for a wedding ring to sit alongside an engagement ring, a practical choice would be to select a wedding ring in the same metal as your engagement ring. Some metals are softer than others, and wearing a softer metal next to a harder one can mean that the softer one is worn away over time. COLOUR. If you decide you’d prefer a ring in a white metal, you can choose between silver, steel, titanium, 9ct or 18ct white gold, palladium or platinum. When it comes to white gold, you may decide to have your ring rhodium plated, which gives white gold a whiter appearance. If you like the colour of yellow gold, bear in mind that 9ct yellow gold is a paler colour than 18ct. And when it comes to rose gold, 9ct is a deeper colour than 18ct, which has a softer tone. WHAT PROFILE AM I LOOKING FOR? The term ‘profile’ describes the shape of the cross-section of a ring. A ring with an ‘oval’ profile will be slightly rounded on the inside and outside. A ring with a ‘rectangular’ section will have a flat inside and outside, with straight edges. WHAT WIDTH WOULD SUIT ME MOST? Some hands are most flattered by a narrow ring, and others suit chunkier, wider styles. It’s only by trying on different rings that you’ll get a sense of what suits you best. WHAT FINISH AM I LOOKING FOR? From rings with a rough, hammered, organic finish, to those with a fine texture, to those that are highly polished. It all really depends on what you want or prefer, like they say, one man's meat is another man's poison. DUTIES OF THE MAID OF HONOUR ON THE WEDDING DAY. My definition of 'maid of honour' or 'Chief Bridesmaid' is "MAID" of Honour and Chief Brides'MAID' Emphasis on the maid. Incase you didn't know, you are supposed to be the bride's MAID for the day. I see a lot of people choose their bestfriends for this role but it is also important to choose someone who you think can perform the duties of a maid of honour ON the wedding day. 1. ACT AS THE POINT PERSON. No wedding planner? No problem. The maid of honor should give out her phone number to all of the key vendors and family members in advance so she can help field any questions for the bride and keep everyone on track. 2. FEED THE BRIDE (okay, not literally). The morning of the wedding can be a fast and frantic experience and some brides simply forget to eat. And let's be honest, no one likes a cranky bridezilla. 3. BE ON DRUNK PATROL. IF your bride plans on enjoying some bubbly with the girls, it's your duty to try and keep the bride and bridesmaids to a one to two glass max. 4. HELP HER GET DRESSED. Getting a nervous woman into possibly the most expensive, elaborate dress she'll wear in her life is no small task. You'll want to be certain everything is laid out in advance, from undergarments to shoes to jewelry. There will be a lot of lifting and rearranging involved. 5. BE AT HER BECK AND CALL. While your bride sits for hours getting gorgeous, she'll need your help fetching things, dealing with her phone and generally calming her nerves the whole time. 6. ACT AS A GATEKEEPER. If there are family members or friends that are known to seriously stress out the bride, it's your job to keep them away from her, as best you can. If by all means, you want your bestfriend to be your maid of honour for your big day, you can send her to La' Heiress one day training school, where she would learn all about her duties as a maid of honour. WEDDING STRESS MANAGEMENT. I don't have to tell you that people planning weddings are stressed out. Between money, time, and general expectations, if you can break down where that stress is coming from, it will be easier to deal with. 5. WEDDING VENDORS. These people want to make money and will pressure you into getting the more expensive option. Have a budget and stick to it. If you're tempted by what they offer that is more expensive, say firmly, "That's not in my budget, I'll have to get back to you." 4. WELL MEANING OPINIONS OF OTHERS. Everyone will want to know the details of your wedding and everyone will have an opinion. Listen to what they have to say, but with a grain of salt. They are not the ones getting married, YOU are. 3. YOUR PARENTS. These people stress us out for various reasons our entire lives, why would they stop now? Whether it's complaining about money you're spending or wanting to have a hand in everything, parents have that special knack to stress us out. Sit down with your parents early in the wedding planning process to find out if they want to give you money for your wedding and how much. Before you go any further, get them to agree on a set number of people they'll be inviting. Don't promise your mother something if you haven't talked to your fiance about it first. 2. DON'T FORGET TO BUDGET! Make sure you sit down at the beginning of the process, agree on how much money you're going to spend, and stick to it! 1. EACH OTHER. It's true, the number one person who will stress you out the most is the person you're going to spend the rest of your life with. This is mostly because weddings are stressful. The most common complaints are "He's not doing anything to help with the wedding" and "she never talks about anything other than the wedding." Sit down with a wedding planner and divide up the list of tasks into bride's, groom's and together. Each of you will know what you are responsible for. La' Heiress Hospitality Services Olamide |
