Policeman overdoses on drugs stolen from evidence room

An Ohio police chief died from an accidental fentanyl overdose after the drugs were removed from his department’s evidence room, Foxnews reports.

Kirkersville Police Chief James Hughes Jr. was found unresponsive in his home on May 25 and pronounced dead shortly after. An autopsy revealed he died from acute intoxication by fentanyl.

Reynoldsburg Police Department Lt. Ron Wright, revealed that packaging was discovered “that indicated that he was taking controlled substances from” the evidence room.

Politician accused of rape, arrives court on a stretcher .

There was mild confusion, yesterday, at a Bayelsa High Court in Yenagoa, after a former Security Adviser to ex-Gov. Timipre Sylva, being tried for alleged rape, arrived on a stretcher.

Perekeme Richard Kpodo had been accused of raping and detaining one Teke Blessing on June 20, at his hostel. On July 27, he was arraigned and remanded in prison custody till Aug. 10 for ruling on his bail application.


However, he arrived court, yesterday, on a stretcher. The judge, on sighting him in an ambulance, ordered the prison officials to return him to the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa where he had been receiving treatment.

Ekiti vigilante members torture man to death, attempt to bury him secretly .

The Police Command in Ekiti on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of the leader of a vigilance group in the state, Femi Ogunleye aka Akilapa, and six of his members for allegedly and illegally arresting and torturing a man to death.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Caleb Ikechukwu, who confirmed their arrest on Wednesday, said members of the suspected vigilance group had been terrorising residents of Ado-Ekiti.

Ikeckukwu said the command operatives arrested Ogunleye and his members in the early hours of Monday while being in possession of a fresh body of a middle aged man identified as Oke.

He noted that the suspects were arrested while attempting to bury the remains of the deceased within the premises of Ogunleye’s residence in Ado-Ekiti.

The police spokesperson named the other suspects as Simon Oluwaghohunmi, 35; Muhammadu Saradeen, 36; Ojo Muri, 30; Peace Okon, 44; Sola Sunday, 20; and Ogunleye Onaopemipo, 20.

Religious Leaders Wont Be Placed On Salary – Lagos government

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday debunked viral report on the social media suggesting that it was planning to commence paying salary to religious leaders in the State, saying the claim was totally untrue and misleading.

Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr. Abdulateef Abdulhakeem who made the clarification while speaking on a television programe monitored in Lagos, said there was no iota of truth in the said report, and urged members of the public to disregard it in its entirety.

He said: “The clear position is that the Lagos State Government is not intending to employ Imams and Pastors. There is no such plan and there is no willingness on our part to delve into a private realm.

“What exists in Lagos State is that there is a symbiotic relationship between the Lagos State Government and faith-based organizations and it is a mutually beneficial relationship which has contributed to the growth and development of the State,” Abdulhakeem said.

In the said report, Abdulhakeem was quoted as saying that the State Government would soon place religious leaders on the State salary structure to encourage them to use their Pulpit and the Minbar to re-orientate citizenry to shun corruption and immorality.

Clarifying his statement, the Commissioner said: “I must have been misunderstood or misquoted. We were at a forum where we were trying to encourage religious leaders to be advocates against corruption because religious leaders have millions of adherents and they enjoy the allegiance of millions of followers and we expect them to use the Pulpit and the Minbar to advocate for good governance and selflessness so that they can influence their members positively.

A 34-year old man, James Nwogha, has been arrested for allegedly killed his 30-year old wife on July, 31, 2018, at Umudioka Street, Nkpor, Anambra State.

The suspect reportedly hit the deceased, Jennifer Nwogha, with a pestle, during an altercation between them.

Man impregnates own daughter after 8yrs of sex .

A 45-year-old man, Julius Ochim, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly impregnating his own daughter, who eventually gave birth to a baby girl.

The Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said: ”The man was arrested following a complaint by his daughter who reported at Shagamu Police Division that her father has been having carnal knowledge of her since she was 9, after the death of her mother in 2009.”


Oyeyemi added that, consequently, the lady reportedly got pregnant for the suspect and gave birth to a baby girl who is now three years old. On why she did not report after many years, the lady reportedly told the police that her father ”used to threaten her with cultural implication of refusing him to sleep with her.”

He said on interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime but blamed it all on the devil’s handwork. He reportedly confessed that he had been sleeping with the young woman since the demise of his wife.

The police spokesman added that the suspect disclosed that he started having ‘problems’ with the victim when she started going out with ”another person whom she said she want to get married to”.

”He confessed that the he was trying to prevent the girl from getting married so as to continue having his way with her.”

Dino Melaye was never kidnapped – Sahara Reporters

Contrary to those claims, Melaye’s relatives and many senators have told SaharaReporters that he was never kidnapped but only staged a walk into a bush to avoid being charged before a Kogi High Court, SR reports.

Although Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi West, resurfaced on Friday to claim he “spent 11 hours in the wilderness”, SR is confirming that he was never kidnapped.

Melaye was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday before the Magistrate court in Abuja for alleged gunrunning, but the trial could not hold due to the claims by Senator Ben Bruce, quoting Melaye’s brother, that he had been abducted by unknown gunmen.

Kylie Jenner, and the Denial Underlying Millennial Financial Resentment

Lately, the air has been crackling with financial resentment. Tweets and articles about money—about, say, how Kylie Jenner is a self-made billionaire, or how two rich college graduates chose their expensive apartment in Kips Bay, or how one young woman lives in New York on an intern’s salary and a generous parental allowance—have extended themselves, like steel rods, into our atmosphere of extreme inequality. As planned, the lightning of outraged public attention has forked and flashed through the air.

The agita directed at these recent articles, published by Forbes, the Times, and Refinery29, respectively, is much less about the articles themselves and much more about the era and the nation we live in. We are mad at billionaires because our richest one employs warehouse workers who sometimes have to pee in bottles to avoid being punished for taking bathroom breaks. We are mad at the way American wealth is locked up and transmitted within families because we live in the world’s richest major country, and yet a third of our population struggles to get by. But our current political system is stacked so firmly in favor of those who wish to keep things this way that we have found ourselves, as usual, litigating these issues in discourse rather than in policy.

And so let’s start with the Refinery29 article. It ran last week, on Money Diaries, a section of the site that Carrie Battan described last year as “the most lurid corner of the Internet,” a place where millennial women go to judge and be judged. What pissed people off about this particular Money Diaries installment was, at first, the headline: it said that this twenty-one-year-old woman was living on twenty-five dollars an hour, when in fact her parents paid for her cell phone, rent, health insurance, and college tuition, and gave her an eight-hundred-dollar allowance each month. (Her grandfather contributed another three hundred: “#blessed,” the anonymous woman wrote.) Even with her allowance noted in a new headline, this was a fairly unremarkable story. New York City is flooded with young people who consciously or unconsciously obscure the degree to which their parents have helped them, especially during their student years. But readers remained studiously irritated, mocking the woman’s reflexive attempts to disown her privilege—in the Hamptons for the weekend, she writes, “My friend’s chef (?! I know) prepares vegan tacos”—and her fastidious, predictable taste.

The week before, Forbes had published its Kylie Jenner cover, which featured a photo of the twenty-year-old in a suit jacket next to a tagline that announced her net worth—nine hundred million dollars—and proclaimed that she was on her way to becoming the youngest-ever self-made billionaire. The greatest irritant here was the word “self-made.” As other publications harvested the viral annoyance for clicks and retweets, Kim Kardashian West defended her sister against the backlash, giving an interview to none other than Refinery29. Jenner was self-made, West said. “We are all ‘self-made.’ What, because we came from a family that has had success? To me, that doesn’t really make sense,” she said. “Me, Kylie, not one [of the siblings] has ever depended on our parents for anything besides advice.” Her own father never gave her anything, West reiterated. “Nobody works harder than my sisters and my mom,” she said.

To complete the trifecta came a Times Real Estate story, last Thursday, about two freshly minted college graduates who had moved to New York City and were looking for an apartment. Alexi and Lauren both worked in social media, and they had a combined rental budget of up to thirty-eight hundred dollars per month. At first, they wanted to live on the Upper East Side, then decided that it’d be more appropriate to move uptown in “five years or so.” The East Village was “too gritty” for them, but a doorman building in Murray Hill didn’t have enough character. “We wanted to be New Yorkers. We wanted to live in a walk-up,” Alexi said. (The Times followed that quote by mentioning that she was from Madison, Connecticut, a town that has a six-figure median family income and a population that’s more than ninety-six per cent white.) The two young women wanted the “full New York City experience,” and so they settled on a two-bedroom in—here’s the twist—Kips Bay.

What this all added up to was a grim vision of our current situation, in which popular narratives around wealth acquisition have become so convoluted and self-delusional that Elon Musk recently tweeted that the word “billionaire” has turned into a derogatory term. Even the resentment around Refinery29’s Money Diarist was somewhat misplaced. The column aims, very transparently, to turn financial voyeurism into ad revenue—it’s not a column about interesting people or about how to live on a tight budget—and, besides, the work-your-way-through-school plan went extinct in the nineties. The problem is not that rich girls are spared educational debt or that they become lip-kit tycoons or that they choose to pay nearly four grand for a two-bedroom apartment in midtown. The problem is that these financial privileges are shrouded in such heavy dissembling, in an instinctive denial of what American wealth really is and what it really means.

It’s not coincidental that young women were the subjects of all these stories. Young women, who are constantly asked to present themselves as likable, tend to be hyper-aware of what other people think about them. And in this era of world-historical inequality—and in this country, which is psychologically addicted to the idea of bootstrapping—

For over a decade, R&B singer, R. Kelly has been trailed by varying degrees of sexual-abuse-related allegations. In 2008, he was arraigned over a heinous case of underage sex.

The singer faced charges of child pornography after being accused of making a 27-minute sex tape with a 14-year-old.

In 2017, R. Kelly was accused of brainwashing women and young girls into becoming his ‘sex slaves’. Some two months ago, music streaming platform, Spotify denied him the privilege of being play listed as a result of the repeated allegations of sexual misconduct slammed against him.

R. Kelly has now released a 19-minute song titled ‘I Admit’, which found him addressing a number of these allegations. Although he admitted to committing some of these crimes, his confessions were more defensive, than remorseful.

Chocolate City Boss and revered Nigerian rapper, MI Abaga, has once again announced a new release date for his much-awaited fourth studio album titled ‘Yung Denzl’.

The rapper shared on an Instagram post this evening that album will now drop on August 24th as part of a rollout schedule that will unveil three music project of which he is the Executive Producer.

This will be the third time the rapper will be announcing a scheduled release date for the album which he first talked about in 2016.

In early February while announcing that the album had been scheduled for May, MI said he wasn’t in a rush to drop the project. In the post dropped on his Instagram, it read, “Every project for me is a piece of my life…I will never rush music because I respect my fan base too much”.

MI failed to drop the album on its May 18th scheduled date and once again got fans agitated and disappointed.

We hope that this time, Yung Denzel is dropping for real.

Uwaifo made this known in an interview with SaharaReporters at the Annual General Meeting of Copyright Society of Nigeria COSON, in Lagos.

The former commissioner for arts and culture in Edo State described copyright and Intellectual property theft as a very serious issue in Nigeria, saying it must be dealt with urgently as it is reducing the creativity of the new generation of musicians.

According to him, the process of making music has now significantly changed from what it used to be in his time, as “more mediocres” are now in the game.
