Not any fault of yours, this kind of case most time equals "on a long thing" for applicants. It will take you a whole lot of extra ties and work to get a B1/B2 visa, really (you could let us in on a fair knowledge of your strong ties possibly for analysis purposes)! If I may advice, I will say the earlier you went into the immigrant visa foray and pursue same for yourself (of course it takes some good time, just be ready to sit it out oh) the better for you boss.
