Webmasters / Re: Google Is Now Alphabet: Search Giant Changes Name by Lanadelrey: 8:17am On Aug 11, 2015
False! They're not changing the name. They're opening ANOTHER parent company called "Alphabet". "Google" and "Alphabet" are different entities.

SOURCE: BBC http://www.bbc.com/news/business-33857412
Google has unveiled a surprise restructuring, creating a new parent company called Alphabet Inc.
Under the rebranding, Google will retain its best-known businesses, such as search, apps, YouTube and Android.
Some of the newer entities, such as the investment and research divisions, the "smart-home" unit Nest, and the drone arm will be run under Alphabet.
Google founder Larry Page said it would create a simpler structure for what had become a diverse group of businesses.
"This new structure will allow us to keep tremendous focus on the extraordinary opportunities we have inside of Google," he said in the blogpost.
"Our company is operating well today, but we think we can make it cleaner and more accountable," he said. "The whole point is that Alphabet companies should have independence and develop their own brands."
Mr Page will become chief executive of Alphabet, with senior vice president Sundar Pichai becoming CEO of Google.
Mr Page's fellow Google co-founder Sergey Brin will become president of Alphabet, and Eric Schmidt, the current Google chairman, will be executive chairman of the holding company.
What's in a name?
Google's new chief financial officer, Ruth Porat, will hold the same title for both Google and Alphabet.
BGC Partners' investment analyst Colin Gillis said the new structure should give investors greater clarity on strategy and how much Google was spending on new products.
"There's been a lot of speculation about how much money they put into these other ventures," Mr Gillis told Bloomberg. "That will come to an end. This also gives them the structure to add in another business line if they were to acquire something. The mechanism is in place."
The name Alphabet was chosen for two reasons, Mr Page said. It represents language, "the core of how we index with Google search", and because Alpha-bet means "investment return above benchmark, which we strive to do".

Goodluck Jonathan was an extremely incompetent president. I honestly think he's a nice man but he is not a leader, he is easily intimidated and folds under pressure. He is not Igbo, he is Ijaw. The whole nigeria voted him in 2011 and voted him out in 2015 due to poor performance. Tribalism had nothing to do with it.
His wife was a village champion who opened her mouth when it'd have served purpose to keep it shut. The 'diaris god o' incident was extremely embarrassing to every Nigerian and her unfortunate vocabulary is what nightmares are made of. Under GEJ's leadership a lot of nonsense happened that would not have happened if he was a capable president.
When GEJ became president in 2010 after yar'adua's death, boko haram was not a serious matter. It blossomed greatly due to this buffoon's nonchalance and slowness to act. Now he has left the mess he allowed to happen for GMB to clean up. Then the avid GEJ fan club began pointing fingers at GMB and blaming boko haram on him.
My question is even if someone started bokoharam, why didn't jona do something about it, why didn't he nip it in the bud early? Boko haram would not have prospered if it was OBJ, he would have done the dirty work involved and terminated them before their name even crossed borders. That's what ppl in power do, they get their hands dirty so citizens can get some sleep at night. But Jonathan slept while his citizens bled and got raped by terrorists.
Ndi igbo are angry because they kicked Jona out but let me tell you, that's only the uneducated ones. Most igbos who actually are logical disliked GEJ cos that man used igbos who are hardcore refined extreme tribalists, the onye-nkem syndrome is too strong in them and GEJ knew and kept cashing in on that to lure them in and sub-consciously brain washing them into seeing him as one of them knowing that if he got them on his side, they'd stand with him no matter how stupidly he performs cos he's "Ebele" afterall, tell me isn't that promoting tribalism? He installed a very us against them mindset in Ndi-igbo during his regime and they drank it in whole. That's why they're talking about biafra again with such intensity all of a sudden cos they believe "Nigeria" the enemy has removed "Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan" their christian Igbo brother.
Goodluck said corruption is not stealing, Goodluck when talking about the Nyanya bombing incident said "Nigerians have survived worse ordeals and we'll get over it", Goodluck never recovered those Chibok girls that the whole world campaigned for, There was a black-out a certain night in Murtala Mohammed airport under Goodluck's rule. So many red lights about this man's administration.
Yes, some Igbos voted Buhari, no! we are not muslim, I'm atheist even and no! Buhari did not beg us with rice. Hell, some Ijaws voted for Buhari. We just got fed up of nonsense and embarrassment and voted him out. I utterly detest GEJ's administration. I boarded a 22hr flight to Nigeria just to vote for GEJ in 2011 cos I had such faith in him and I boarded the same 22hr flight to Nigeria again in 2015 to vote him out cos I lost faith in him. So tribalism did not chase GEJ away, his poor performance and epic weakness did. Goodbye Jona and Goodbye Mama Piss, We don't miss you. Wole Soyinka is spot-on right.

I voted for this man. Like I actually came back to Nigeria to vote ebele out and buhari in. I have such high hopes for his tenure as president. Nigeria has flopped for years which is why we smartly sacked GEJ, the head scratcher. I don't care if Buhari will be minister of everything to move this country forward, let him! It's a democracy but few can be trusted, so let him oversee it and curb the hungry embezzlers.
Come on, this man has balls. He is not scared of anyone. He does what he feels has to be done. That is leadership. Unlike ex-leaders that lived to please sycophants. With great power comes great responsibility. I really look forward to what will become of Nigeria during his regime.
One last thing, Buhari. Radio Biafra is still on in enugu and my weird cousin keeps updating about it on whatsapp. Send someone to find the cable and cut it abeg. #fixitjesus Ndi igbo, cut the tribalistic nonsense, it is not going to get us far.

We have a lot of reasons fo been a Developing country. Talking about population, ethnicity and religion differences, You know nothing about dis things hun?
The USA has more population, ethnicity, race difference, religion differences than we do yet they are developed. Differences only matter if a country refuse to put it behind them. Me? Sentimental? Did u even read my write-up or were you in such a haste to call my bluff that you missed my blatant honesty and obvious fact over sentiments. Why would Nigeria be there for christ sake, Nigeria is just a developing country.
So is Brazil, Mexico, India, Qatar, Bahamas, Russia, South Africa, China, Turkey, Egypt, Argentina, Malaysia.
Developing country refers to any country that is not developed. So, some developing countries are actually great but fall short of requirements of World ranking of developed countries hence the term...
there are 3 types of countries if I do say so myself, there are underdeveloped, regressing and developing. Most developed countries are still developing more, Some developed countries are regressing. Underdeveloped countries are so down there, that whether they're regressing or developing one can't tell till the change is huge and so becomes significant. Developing are countries that are actually developing eg- Turkey, Russia, Malaysia, Qatar, UAE, USA, Canada and in my opinion Nigeria does not make that list. Regressing are countries that are either stagnant or doing lesser than before eg: Ukraine, Greece, South Africa and Portugal, Argentina, Cambodia. Underdeveloped is a country that has very poor standard of living and poor economy.. Nigeria and most african countries.
Sad thing is Nigeria's economy and resources have what it takes to be the developing-developing country just like Qatar, Russia and Turkey but corruption is tearing this country down. India has a very similar GDP per capita with Nigeria but they are developing faster than we are and the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai which is their equivalent of Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos is utterly stunning. Even Mauritius here in africa that doesn't have resources is better than Nigeria through tourism which they've invested heavily into.
A country is only as great as it has been invested into... There is no reason whatsoever why Nigerian airport should fall short of standard given that we attract a lot of foreign investors who'll get to see our airport. I watched a video on youtube of flyemirates flight attendants talking about their job and one was asked her favorite thing about landing in a new country and she said, it's touring the airport and shopping and buying local souvenirs except for some airports like Nigeria and Ghana which don't have a lot to see, she named these two countries literally. Ghana no get money pass us but we get compared to them, it's NOT cos of geographical nearness, nigeria is a middle aged man s.h.i.tt.tt.i.n.g all over herself.
I hate it when nigerians act like we have legit genuine reason for being the way we are, we don't... we've had time, we have resources but we're developing too slowly compared to others who've been given the same things we have. Be truthful for once haba!

Feraz:
Continue using the term 'developing country' to console yourself. You can never exceed the limitations placed on you by others should you not sit up and take charge of your future.
kolaaderin:

We have been termed developing country since the 70s and we are still developing, 45 years in fetus stage when are we going to be born and grow.....
country like UAE is just empty desert early 90s and are now top notch fully developed country within the spade of 20 years, i was once on transit at dubai international airport and believe me if there is airport in heaven it shouldnt be far from the scene at Dubai..... if you have nothing to say please no vex me this afternoon ooooo

That airport is a disgrace. I'm always embarrassed by it.. Before I got my new citizenship I always hated standing on that "For Nigerian Citizens" line.. Foreigners be looking at you like meh. Now, I don kuku hide my green passport and would proudly stand on the foreigners line while looking at Nigerians on their own lane haha.. I dont understand, Like? our leaders leave the country often, do they not get inspired to live up to what they've seen? An airport is the first place you see in a country, your first impression! Why can't they make it look nice? There are so many countries I've never been to but have stayed in their airport on transit and that alone gave me my impression of the country... Naija no dey try at all.

A customer in a cyber cafe does not ask questions about how many customers have logged on the computer before him. All he wants is for the computer to work perfectly while he uses it.

A sensible customer in computer village about to buy a used PC will however request for the usage history of the product. If the PC is deemed to be new, proof would be requested.
Girls are not products you purchase. Your sexism is so unfortunate. When you have a partner, she is not your property. She's an individual who had a life before you just like you had before her. Sure my dear and for the record I never resort to name calling cos I know better. I never used abusive language on you and I am obviously not close-minded as you can tell from my post so where do you get that from haha? Okay bye.

So you mean, truck pushers don't get laid? Ok dear, I believe you *rolls eyes*. It's mentality of men around that makes ladies lie and "form holy". I have never had to talk about my sexual history with a man and I don't feel ever the need to and men who ask that are beneath me and would never walk up to me on the street so chances are I'll never get to know any such men.
The bold part emphasizes my point, ladies lie because MOST(not all but MOST) nigerian men are insecure and unpolished even the educated ones and ask questions when they can't handle the truthful answers. It's like kids asking where babies come from, no one ever tells them till they grow up and discover they should never have asked and laugh it off.
My point again is that ppl who live among well-thinking circles don't care about sexual history of partners. What a man/woman does before he/she meets you is in the past and should never be brought up. Environment and mindset has a lot to do with this. People in well-evolved communities to do not ask and do not tell.
Shwarz:

No offense but your generalization of men doesn't really portray you as secure and polished either. You are been unrealistic as you say you shouldn't care about the past of your partner, much more a life partner at that. And whats this "well thinking circles" you are talking about. Just so you know, there's nothing like that, there's no group of people who know it all, people who claim so are psychotic cultists. The keyword is human nature. Its human nature to know about the past, present and future of their partner. And its not possible to turn off human nature in a committed romantic relationship that may last forever, because romanticism is a product of human nature. Dont say that its "unpolished and well thinking" to not care about the past of a partner, thats a very wrong notion. Its left to individualism to either to forget or forgive.
I guess you stupidly skipped the part of my post where I not once but twice said that most not all but most nigerian men are guilty of this BS. And if you don't believe that through education, exposure and enlightenment one can develop higher thinking then I really don't have words for you. And the part about me being insecure, lol cos you are the one who is very insecure and not me cos i'm not threatened at all by numbers that you are obviously mortified about. And your logic is soo flawed I don't even know where to begin with you.
Now listen, It's in human nature to have sex whenever you feel like and find a willing partner to do it with so what's the forgive and forget you're talking about? Forgive someone for having sex? It is not in human nature to ask sexual history of partners cos humans are sexual beings, it's like saying it's in a lion's nature to keep count of his prey or it's in human nature to keep count of how many food we've eaten since we first knew what eating was. If something comes naturally, it's against nature to keep count, you just keep doing it when nature calls. Humans actually have a lot less sex than they were designed to have.
Your logic is false and no excessive grammatical usage will make it correct. Yes, there's no group of people who know it all, but there is certainly a group of people who know better and as a result, do better. And romanticism is *drumroll* not human nature but a human manufactured product fed and ingrained into humans through books and cinema, humans invented romance and they tell it to children to uphold their innocence and convince them that there is some good and magic in the world and they grow up and the illusion is shattered. Marriage even is not human nature, it's a social construct. Love on the other hand is human nature.
My point again is that ppl who live among well-thinking circles don't care about sexual history of partners. What a man/woman does before he/she meets you is in the past and should never be brought up. Environment and mindset has a lot to do with this. So you are implying on us to wife indecent girls, esp the runsgirls and hoes?
The average nigerian man has had more sexual partners than most "runsgirls and hoes" as you call them, yet a female still marries the men who are hoes, these "runsgirls and hoes" still find themselves a man and in most cases they marry better than naive girls cos they are smarter and won't fall for certain BS. So no one is telling you who to marry, my point is that sexual history of couples should be kept in the past and never brought up, it's unnecessary and most secure people don't care.

And people won't still see rape as the perversion it is. If it were a 23 yr old girl that was raped, they'll ask "what was she wearing?" "what was she doing in his house?" "what time was it?" "how sure are we that she didn't ask him for it?" "how do we know she's not lying?"... Rapists rape because they are deranged, they are not ok... A 2yr old child!!! Please was he aroused by her full bosoms and supple thighs or maybe it's her irresistible curvy hips that attracted him. Men are not animals that lack control. Rape is not a male trait, it is as twisted as serial killing and necrophilia.
Nigeria as a country has failed to protect it's citizens and see to it that animals like these are wiped out of the face of the earth to protect the future generation. Children are the future of tomorrow, No? It'll be comedy watching a bunch of traumatized, desensitized rape & terrorism survivors build this country where corruption has eaten deep like a cancer that'll be ingrained into them before they reach their 20s. Now watch this animal pay 35k bail and walk free. Nigeria has no plan for its citizens, poor child. You would be amazed at the number of prepubescent children that get raped in this hellhole, this girl is just a statistic of a rising epidemic, Boko Haram was once child play which wasn't tackled.
Look, if you love yourself, make plans and depart this failed country or hustle hard and make so much money to live above the pathetic system.

What kind of "marriage" is this? If I'm right, your husband tried to lock you out of the house while you were planning a trip, then he hurt you and gave you a head injury. And it's your mother-in-law you're worried about? Your marriage is toxic and I don't know what your relationship is like with your husband but it doesn't look good to me. What does your husband have to say about your "head injury", is he remorseful? is this the first time he's hurt you? Are you happy in the so-called marriage? Your MIL is in the wrong but you are not married to her, how is it with the one you're married to?

This is what happens when stupid people keep preaching that 'children are a gift from god'.

Children are a responsibility and many people are not prepared for such.

If they need contraceptives then they should be able to get them without feeling any guilt or shame.

If they need to abort the fetus then let them, that is better than this - this is murder.
True!!! Pro-Choice is the way to be. They won't legalize abortion. They won't provide a running foster care system to ensure unwanted babies are cared for. I really don't know what Pro-life underdeveloped Nigeria expects of these women who are forced to undertake a responsibility they obviously don't want. This will keep happening till a rational stand is taken on unwanted pregnancies.
