Thermostat are not meant to be removed from the cooling system of an engine.

Heat engines are designed to work at certain temperature for optimum performance. Once the engine warms up to this temperature , the thermostat controls the cooling fans to work in an intermittent manner, and as such maintains this temperature.

Both fans should work in a continuous mode whenever the Aircon is switched on and in use, else the big fan of meant to work in Auto mode and intermittently as configured by the vehicle manufacturer.

There is a direct link between engine temperature sensors, the ECU(brain box) and your fuel consumption.
Removing your vehicle thermostat will increase Vehicle fuel consumption.

Regional weather conditions has nothing to do with vehicle thermostat., hence should not be removed. Our mechanics here removes it to suppress symptoms of engine cooling issues.

Please don't use his mechanic.. He already gave you a bad advice... Don't replace thermostat.. Consult gazzuzz if in mainland.. Radautoworks in island.
It's either your thermostat is bad.. Your fans not working or not set to work the proper way.. Or your radiator is bad or clogged.. Or your water pump...
Let your mechanic start from the least to the most... Just consult gazzuzz... Then come back and open another thread of review and thanks after some months.

OP don’t take this advice, you are only addressing the symptoms not the cause. Reason you see engines start smoking in few years and require replacement due to performance drop.

You fixed overheating without tracing or addressing what caused the overheating in the first place.
I think your radiator is bad, or the fans are not working , or the water pump is bad.
If its the radiator, change the radiator, maybe the cells are blocked or its expired.
For the radiator fan, tell the electrician you want the fans to be working as soon as you turn the ignition on.
For the water pump, ita unlikely that's the cause.but they should check it
