Education / Re: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by lanydotbiz(m): 5:30pm On Jan 05, 2012
Hello all in the house,

I want to first thank everyone who has dropped one piece of information or the other. Like some said, we just have to give a project like this a trial but not at the expense of our future.
I wouldn't think of NOUN as an institution to bag my first degree because it could be time wasting and non-practical at times but should be okay for PG programmes.
We all know how generally the Nigerian educational system has being in the past. I think this NOUN project is also a product of dilapidated educational system. Therefore, it may improve as the general educational system improves.

I noticed that no one want to mention anything relating to tuition fee despite being asked by many people in this thread.
I believe if anyone has idea, it going to help those at the verge of taking a step to make a wise decision.

Just as i am writing now, I intent to go for masters in NOUN but need to consider first what the tuition fee would be like though i got a hold on the payment schedule through their website where all payment for a PG programme except tuition fee runs to around N22,500.

They also quote N10,000 as result verification fee which i don't think we need to worry ourselves about now.

Since i did not see anything like tuition fee there, I could not conclude that is all i have to pay upon gaining admission.

Conclusively, I want to implore whoever has idea (just rough estimate) how much their tuition fee can be to kindly keep us informed and we that are in need of this vital information would surely appreciate it.

Thank you all.

Jobs/Vacancies / Top 5 Job Search Ideas For Fresh Graduates by lanydotbiz(m): 8:19pm On Mar 10, 2009
In most developing countries where both old and fresh graduates hit the labour market in search for job on daily basis, finding a dream job can be so competitive and frustrating.

I know you must be reading this article either because you are looking for a new job or you are not satisfied with the one you are already engaging in. One thing I’ve come to realize is that no lecturer teacher in your school would teach you how to search for your dream job. Everything about job search, including test, interview techniques how to network are what you have to learn after graduation from college.

This led me into researching how one can get a job fast and I believe you will find this five tips useful…

1) Avoid Idleness
While searching and waiting for your dream job, don’t wait for the job in that big corporation, that oil and Gas Company or that bank you are targeting.

Get any available offer so you can gain adequate hand on experience while you are waiting. So start looking at small businesses, micro finance banks, private schools, local Government secretariat jobs… or any kind of employer that comes your way. Since you know where you are going.

2) Networking is a great tool
It’s now getting easier getting job by job networking. It could be traditionally or online. One great place to network is on jobseekers forum where jobseekers in Nigeria gather to discuss everything relating to career and job hunt techniques and general recruitment. You could get your dream job via jobsearch networking.

3) You need experience
Yeah! You heard it. Most large corporations these days do not want to spend money on graduate training. So they often prefer experienced hands and since this is a competitive market, only the best fitted would be called for job test and interview. So you need hand on experience at all cost.

4) Have a good resume
I have to add this because your resume tells a lot about you and your worth. The best you can do here is after coming up with your resume, get experts to have a look at it probably they could help you fix up any stinking part of it. There is a lot of materials out there that could be of help in writing your resume.

5) Job market is highly competitive: Have a competitive mind set
The truth of the whole matter is that life itself is competitive so as a jobseeker, you should get ready to compete in the job market. The competition starts from when you are writing you cover letter. Once you have the competitive mind set, then you’ll be set to face the challenges.

Good luck in your job search

Business / Re: How Can We Combat Fraud In Nigeria? by lanydotbiz(m): 5:32am On Sep 15, 2008
Love Your Neighbor As Yourself
Since fraud is a criminal act, i think the best solution that is above all is to love one another.
You can never think of defrauding your fellow man if only you consider the aftermath of you intended actions on your subject/target.
Love is the only way out and it should be campaigned to all
Business / Re: Online Survey by lanydotbiz(m): 5:11am On Sep 15, 2008
Well one thing i discovered about most surveys is that many of them are actually not meant for Africans ,especially Nigerians.
You should understand what that implies.
