patrickmuf: The point is that after that UCL game, everyone raved about the performance of Onana which had more to do with his calmness on the ball...
If a player plays well against a top team, it is only normal to see fans singing praises of the player and calling for his signing. That is not unusual; it's down to the heat of the moment, and that's what happened with Onana...
When the summer transfer window opened, the opinion of everyone here about the replacement of De Gea at that point is well documented here. Some of us were not against his replacement, but we thought he was not the major problem of the team at the time, and it was not good business to spend scarce resources to replace him when they could have been spent to address other areas of the team where we needed reinforcement.
The way things turned out proved that those who preferred that we fix our attack, midfield and defence first before replacing De Gea were spot on... Me I was totally against his replacement sha. I will forever be a DDG fan for life. |

Lana1: With Cunha injured, this should be our formation on Sunday. God punish that man if he plays Bruno in midfield just to accommodate Mount I'll take Mount over this Mainoo actually. He offers us something Mainoo cannot and that is constant pressing and work rate. A midfield of Mainoo and Case against City and Bruno on the wings? 😂 |

patrickmuf: That na post match commentary, it is not uncommon to see someone making such post.
You can dig up when rumors were rife that we are replacing De Gea. I was very vocal here that we had other areas of the team that needed improvement.
You were one of the promoters of ball playing goalkeeper. You were firmly in the camp that wanted De Gea replaced. I no get shovel but I am sure... Yes he wanted DDG gone but warned us very well about Onana. We really dropped the ball replacing DDG with Onana man |

BlueRayDick: From the last two matches I watched, there's everything wrong with this particular coach.
This team he's coaching has no identity and no recognizable playing pattern. It doesn't even look like they have a manager who is in charge of the team coaching them to play to his instructions.
For example, in today's match the south Africans look more coordinated in their play. They found a way to play the ball on their feet and switch play from one side to the other when on the attacking foot. They knock the ball around with ease ; much better than we do.
Even if we qualify for a tournament sef we won't go far with the way this team playing under this coach. Majorly because of the pitch and our midfielders did zilch to control the game. The only issue I had with him today was Simon and Lookman on the same wing leaving the LW deserted but I disagree that there's no pattern. We need to stick with him and get midfielders and proper wingers in. Probably a goalkeeper too. |

BlueRayDick: Aswear, Ndidi just dey GBA all over the pitch. He's only making the list based on senior man levels.
When NFF is ready to rebuild Super Eagles, they should get a decent foreign coach and have scouts go all over Europe to scout for decent Midfielders that can be used to build the core of the new team.
Our midfield play is just so wack! Without sorting our midfield play we will just be parading big name strikers while we fail to win average teams either in Africa or on the international scene There's nothing wrong with Chelle tho. He has won 8pts from a possible 12. Na Peseiro and Finidi put us in this nonsense situation. |

afrodoc: This is not a pitch matter. We put ourselves in this situation. This current generation of Nigerian footballers is a disgrace.
How can they keep increasing the number of African qualifiers and we keep missing out on World Cup qualification? It's disgusting. Peseiro got 2 point from Lesotho and Zimbabwe Finidi got 1 point against South Africa and Benin 3 points from 4 games against Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Benin and S.A A disgrace. Chelle has gotten 8pts from a potential 12. NFF should bow their head in shame. |
