The Governor of Kano State, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, has revealed why President Goodluck Jonathan’s foot soldiers in the state are not campaigning for his re-election. Kwankwaso made the assertion while playing host to a delegation from Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of the state at the Government House on a solidarity visit. The governor, who was a runner up in the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential primaries held in Lagos, said Jonathan’s foot soldiers in the state were afraid to campaign for his re-election because of the total “failure” that characterised his administration. “It is clear that Jonathan’s men in Kano are afraid to campaign for him because they have nothing to show. We have been saying that this regime is a total failure and a disaster for Nigeria. This is why, despite our ties with the PDP, we decided to abandon the party for the APC. What Nigeria needs now is a strong leader that would correct all these mess that Nigeria is going through. The APC is providing this leader in the person of General Buhari. We would continue to work for the success of the party at all levels; from presidential downwards. And this is why we have been telling our people to be obedient to the party and its leaders,”he said. The governor stated that it is achievement that makes people to vote for anyone, not bragging or arrogance. He said if anyone feels bragging would earn him a position; then such person will be proven wrong by the people. Speaking also, Madakin Kano and District Head of Dawakin Tofa, Alhaji Yusuf Nabahani Cigari, who led the delegation to the government house, explained that their visit was geared towards showing their appreciation to the governor for the support he has been giving to the deputy governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who is an indigene of the area. Meanwhile, a recent attempt by the PDP to return its former members, in the persons of former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was reportedly unsuccessful. It would be recalled that the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, recently accused defected governors of using the ruling party’s manifesto which he claimed is responsible for their success so far. www.naijabams.com/forum/showtopic.php?id=6730

The Enugu State Police command has refuted claims by Enugu-based Catholic priest who is also the founder of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Rev. Father Camillus Ejike Mbaka, that his life is in danger. The cleric had alleged that some people were threatening his life after he blasted President Goodluck Jonathan’s government on New Year eve. He had claimed that Mr. President Jonathan surrounded himself with very corrupt public officials, hence he turned blind eye to their corrupt activities while millions of Nigerians were suffering daily in abject poverty and endless insecurity. Mbaka made the declaration while delivering a sermon tagged, “From Good luck to Bad luck” during the end- of-year Adoration mass which held from night till dawn at the Adoration Ground, Emene, Enugu. But reacting to the cleric alleged threat to his life, Vanguard reports that the Enugu state Police command dismissed the claims as baseless insisting that ‘if’ Mbaka’s life was in danger, he should have reported to the Police for appropriate action. Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu,DSP, said, “We do not have any report by Fr. Mbaka over threat to his life. We have not received any complaint from him.” www.babawalexy9ja.com/2015/01/weve-not-received-reportsofthreatto.html?utm_source=&utm_medium=facebook&m=1

The Vice-Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has said that his emergence as the running mate of a former Head of State, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, should not discourage President Goodluck Jonathan from worshipping at the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s Redemption Camp. In a statement posted on his official Twitter handle, Osinbajo, who is also the presiding pastor of the RCCG Olive Tree Parish, Banana Island, Lagos, said he would be willing to receive the President whenever he chooses to visit the Redemption Camp before the elections. “The reason why I function as a pastor is because I want to touch as many lives as I can. The church must be without walls. It must be out there touching lives. “And, of course, if the President chooses to worship in our church, I will welcome him. That is not certainly an endorsement,” he tweeted. He carpeted Peoples Democratic Party for always blaming the Boko Haram insurgency on APC leaders, adding that it was worrisome that the ruling party had preoccupied itself with the labeling of Buhari as an Islamic fundamentalist. Noting that it was wrong to blame the opposition for the insurgency, Osinbajo said none of Buhari’s antecedents pointed to an iota of fundamentalism. “If you look at history, nobody ever accused Buhari of being a fundamentalist. Not until about five years ago. “But look at his antecedents: his first daughter is married to a Christian and all of that. This does not point to fundamentalism. “So long as they do not call anybody to violence, frankly I do not see how anybody saying he would form a parallel government incites. “What is inciting is where government makes statements that lead to division. Insurgency is one menace which requires the Commander-in-Chief to lead from the front. We (APC) certainly will not be blaming the PDP for insurgency. You try to solve it. You try to galvanise the whole nation to stand by you,” he said. The cleric-turned politician expressed concern that the privatisation of the power sector had yet to make meaningful impact on the economy. The epileptic power supply being witnessed in many parts of the country, he argued, was responsible for the inability of many small businesses to thrive. He added that the challenges facing the nation were beyond the dwindling oil prices, adding that the management of the country’s rich material and human resources was critical. “What we need to do is to have a one-stop shop for approvals, for power generation in this country. Privatisation is a very important step. But you must privatise the whole bit, not in pieces. “Besides, we have had, for five years consistently, the highest prices of oil. After those five years, see where we are today,” he said. Meanwhile, the Director of Media and Publicity of the Jonathan’s Campaign Organisation, Femi Fani- Kayode, has said he would do everything possible to “stop” Buhari from becoming President. The former minister of aviation argued that asking Buhari to preside over the affairs of Nigeria was like asking the “wolf to protect the little red riding hood.” “December 31, 2014 marked the 31st anniversary of Buhari’s 1983 Coup. He truncated democracy. Today, the same Buhari wants to be democratically elected. “By the grace and power of the living God, and the will of the Nigerian people, we will stop him. This nation is moving forward and not backwards,” Fani-Kayode wrote in separate messages posted on his Facebook and Twitter pages. The Presidency on Monday also took a swipe at Buhari over the controversy surrounding his original certificates, which the ex-general claimed were in the custody of the Nigerian Army. Special Assistant to the President on New Media, Reno Omokri, challenged Buhari to emulate Jonathan by furnishing the Independent National Electoral Commission with copies of his original certificates “Jonathan submitted his PhD certificate to INEC in a show of transparency. God is Jonathan’s god-father, not a ‘Chicago certificate’ described by many as having the worst corruption cases in the country. Can your candidate say that?” Omokri wrote on Twitter. According to Omokri, unlike Buhari who took power “by force,” Jonathan became President through the mandate of the people. “Even when power was within his reach, in 2010, Jonathan did not take it, but waited for God to elevate him,” the presidential aide added www.babawalexy9ja.com/2015/01/jonathan-can-still-worshipinrccgyemi.html?utm_source=&utm_medium=facebook&m=1

The All Progressive Grand Alliance says it cannot throw its weight behind President Goodluck Jonathan as it is very likely that the candidate of the All progressives Congress, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), will emerge the winner of the presidential election next month. The Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of APGA, Mr. Campbell Umeh-Nzekwe, who is also a special adviser to the national chairman of the party, said this during an interview with our correspondent , on Sunday. Umeh-Nzekwe said Jonathan’s problem was compounded by the fact that the motion to adopt him as the consensus candidate of the Igbo for the 2015 presidential election failed at the Ime-Obi (inner caucus) meeting of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, on Saturday, in Enugu. He added that the sermon of renowned Enugu-based Catholic priest , Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, that Jonathan had failed and should step down seemed to have sent shockwaves across the South-East. He said the party was sure that Jonathan would not win votes in the North . He said, “The game has changed. As it is, Jonathan has no chance of winning. Buhari seems to have taken over. The PDP has collapsed in the North if you care to know. All those who are running to Aso Rock and making promises to the President are just deceiving him.” When asked if APGA would be supporting Buhari next month, Umeh-Nzekwe said he could not say for sure. He said, “Jonathan is a sitting President with incumbency factor in his favour but Buhari has the masses and a cult following in the North. In 2011, Buhari won 12 million votes in the North with his rag- tag party, the Congress for Progressive Change, without a single governor or senator to campaign for him. “Today, his party, the APC, has 14 governors, 43 senators and 176 Reps as well as 625 House of Assembly members. Also, the APC has dominant control of the North-West with a total number of 18.4 million voters and North-East with 10.2 million while South-West has 13.4 million voters “ The PDP has dominant control of the North-Central and Abuja with 10.4 million voters while the South- South has 8.5 million and South-East has 7.2 million votes. “However, no zone has achieved 50 per cent of votes cast but northern voters are more committed and trustworthy than those in the South. “Also, look at Jonathan’s campaign team. He has Col. Ahmadu Ali (retd.) as his Director General and Peter Obi as the deputy while Buhari has Governor Rotimi Amaechi and Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora as director general and deputy respectively. It is time for Ndi Igbo to review their strategy.” www.babawalexy9ja.com/2015/01/we-wont-support-jonathanhecantwin.html?utm_source=&utm_medium=facebook&m=1

Tragedy struck at Umuele Umudim, Nnewi, Anambra State, on Christmas as four children of the same parents were roasted to death by mystery fire in their three- bedroom apartment on the ground floor of a storey building when their parents were not around. The victims, Chioma Ofomata, 6 years old, Goodness, and Mercy Ofomata who were twins, 3, and Ifeoma, 2, all females were allegedly locked inside the apartment by their mother, Mrs. Chinemerem Ofomata, who was said to have gone to have a share of Christmas rice gift meant for widows in the community, after her husband, a vulcanizer, had already gone out to work with two of their children (boys), Kosy, 8, and Ebuka, 5. Father of the victims, Mr. Anthony Ofomata, 57, said it was around 6pm, on December 25, that he was returning home only to see crowd at his residence, which is isolated from other buildings and, according to him, it was only his family that occupied the entire building. According to him, he saw flames and sympathisers struggling to destroy the doors and windows and the iron burglary proofs to rescue the four children in the midst of the raging fire to no avail. He said his wife did not tell him where she was going to and did not know that the children were locked inside the house. Our source said before people could notice what was happening at the house it was when flames were already coming out through the windows indicating that the children had already been consumed by the inferno before help could come. Probably, when they were crying for help, nobody heard them. The source said when the door was finally forced open, the charred bodies of the children were seen mangled together at one corner of the house where they had run to possibly thinking they would be saved there. Mother of the victims said the door was actually locked outside to restrict movement of the children, as she said it wasn’t the first time the children were locked inside. As for what caused the fire, she said she did not know, adding that there was no inflammable material inside the apartment. She said she locked them inside after having a meal with them and set out for the sharing. She denied that the rice was meant for widows alone. “The rice was meant for everybody, not widows alone. If you like go and find out. I don’t know what caused the fire,” she said when the police led her to the scene of the incident for investigation after being arrested. Bodies of the deceased were later deposited at a nearby mortuary as mother of the victims is still telling the police what she knew about the incident. www.adelove.com/four-children-of-same-parents-roasted-to-death-by-fire-in-anambra/

A renowned Abuja based minister and General Overseer of the Garden of Love and Deliverance Ministries, Prophet Sunday Balogun has revealed that God is unhappy with President Goodluck Jonathan over the inability of the federal government to contain the current insurgency which has resulted in the death of thousands of Nigerians. Prophet Balogun who spoke with journalists about what he termed a revelation from God on the state of the nation, urged President Jonathan to apply the full weight of the federal government in tackling insurgency ahead of the 2015 general elections. He disclosed that the heavenly hosts have decreed that the PDP may lose the 2015 presidential election as well as many governorship seats if the level of violence and killings in the country did not end. “God told me when I was in deep prayer some days ago that He is angry with the present leadership in the country and may change it because some politicians are happy that blood is flowing in several parts of the country... “God is not happy that even those who did not labour to occupy their positions are jubilating about the blood of innocent people that are shed for nothing. “The blood of innocent people, especially children, cries daily to the high heavens from the entire country and God says that it is the responsibility of our leaders especially the president to take appropriate action to stop the killings and the injustice. “God told me that the president knows what to do to stop the carnage going on in the country but God is not happy that instead of taking necessary actions, Jonathan is attributing what is happening to global trends. “The president should perform proper diagnosis of the problems which prevented our soldiers from defeating the Boko Haram and take necessary action to resolve the issues to stop the insurgency and bloodshed before the elections,” he said. While declaring that the PDP is on the verge of losing the next election, Prophet Balogun said, “The blood of thousands of innocent people killed since the Boko Haram insurgency started in year 2009 has cried up to heaven and God is not happy that politicians do not seem to be concerned about it.” aquavibes..in/2014/12/god-is-angry-with-goodluck-jonathan.html?m=1
