Hello Guys. Everyone is more than welcome to advise Especially those who have been to the UK and US before, I would like to find out the real deal. Many of my friends have argued that US is the place to be, while some of them prefer to stay in UK. I have Lived in the UK before but never been to the US and as such I can't really come to a conclusion. I 'd pretty much appreciate great nairalanders to Judge the topic from Experience. Many Thanks |

@ Poster, I agree with Manizu, DBA role is good and it can be very rewarding depending on your experience. However I' ll rather advice you to get both a degree and IT certificiation especially in a country like Nigeria where everyone's got a degree. By taking a degree course in IT, u ll have good background knowledge in Information technology and computer systems. A specialist IT certification course will help you to specialize in your area of Interest i.e Oracle, SQL Server, sybase etc. But definitely the combination of a degree with relevant IT certficiations will definitely give you a competitive edge in the market. Many Thanks SQL Server DBA |
I respectfully disagree with everyone that said Grade doesn't count. @ Poster, Please go for it and get your distinction , It is very Important. What is worth doing atall is worth doing well. It will definitely give you the competitive edge in the Job market, . I graduated with a 1stclass degree Last year and by the grace of God, it helped me secure a decent Job down here, even as an Int'l Student. I'll definitely aim for Distinction when I go for masters. Please take the Classification seriously! get your distinction and see how your certificate and experience will begin to work for you |
