The Super Eagles have once again shown the world why they are the UNDISPUTED champions of African football. After overcoming Malawi in the much talked about World Cup qualifying fixture in Calabar on Saturday, they did the country proud once again by following it up with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Burkina Faso. It was the second time the two teams clashed in a space of 8 months. Nigeria, of course, triumphed over the Burkinabes 1-0 in the final match of AFCON 2013 to claim the title. The friendly rematch took place in Kaduna, but it wasn’t televised live on national TV for security reasons obviously. But that didn’t deter soccer-loving Nigerians from following live proceedings on radio. Others who didn’t have a radio receiver at their disposal logged on to football websites on the internet in search of live match updates. The Super Eagles, from all indications, had the match in their pocket from start to finish. They were able to record this victory though a good number of their established stars couldn’t make it to Kaduna for one reason or the other. Those that were able to play gave us hope that there is life in the team beyond those established stars who ply their trade in tops clubs across Europe. It is good news for the team. It shows us that even in the absence of those “superstars” in critical matches in future due to injuries, suspensions or dispute, Nigeria can still hold their own when it matters. Today’s victory is more crucial than it seems, coming just two days before the latest FIFA World Ranking for countries is released. This victory would enable us to be seeded as one of Africa’s top teams in the next round of the World Cup qualifiers; meaning that we can avoid tough teams such as Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire. The next FIFA/Coca-Cola rankings will come up on the 12th of September and there are hopes that Nigeria will leapfrog Mali, who were surprisingly placed above us in the August edition of the rankings, and Algeria to third position in Africa, behind only West African foes Ivory Coast (1st position) and Ghana (2nd position). http://observerreports.com/2013/09/super-eagles-give-nigerians-more-reasons-to-put-our-faith-in-them/ |

After a full month of round-the-clock tweaking and changing, Yahoo finally revealed its new logo – the first since 1995, a year after the company was founded. The much anticipated logo had undergone a “whole lot” of redevelopment and alterations before the final verison was accepted and released to the public as the company’s new badge. What preceded it was akin to the buzz usually generated in the entertainment industry following the announcement of the release date of a big-budget, star-studded Hollywood movie. But like a big-budget summer flop, the reception was much more lukewarm than even the company’s worst critics would have predicted. The general public are not impressed. The announcement of the new logo by the company’s not-so-new chief executive, Marissa Mayer, via the internet giant’s Tumblr account set the online media agog. Many were left bitterly disappointed by the uninspiring facelift, mainly attributed to the lack of dynamic wholesale changes to the simple and clean old-fashioned Yahoo! icon we all have become accustomed to over the years. img However, if there is anything this new logo has achieved other than disappointing 99.9% of industry watchers; it is the fact that we have started talking about Yahoo again! This new release has generated a lot of interest in the company which has lived under the shadows of its younger, but more successful cousin, Google, for far, far too long. Hopefully, the company’s eggheads can cash in on this heat and reposition the company as the mighty Yahoo! that it once was. http://observerreports.com/2013/09/yahoos-new-logo-fails-impress-good-times-ahead/ |

Nairalanders, what is the most acceptable bank credit or debit card for online transaction like domain name purchase, web hosting and other forms of e-commerce? |
The smile charm me. Chai Genevieve! You too much! |
Before you move your website from one domain to another, make sure you read the terms and conditions of both hosts because there are some hidden charges involved in such transfers. Most of the time, those charges are much higher than that of the domain hosting itself. |
