Ladylite: Truly, IGNORANCE is BLISS.
You were happy and dancing thanking your lucky stars for a new job, not knowing you were sold into slavery.
Salary is what you paid to forget your worth.
Why will a masters degree holder settle for less than 150k(this is supposed to be start up for BSc holder with certifications but it's a start) even in Naija. OP you were desperate and that was how you lost value.
It's best you reapply elsewhere, while managing what you accepted. Also try to contact the previous guy and find out more truths ooooo. He may be earning so much based on CONEXION.... I hope you understand now.
You can have all the degrees a thermometer has, if your connection is not strong... You will be paid almost minimum wage The problem is that you don't even have time to go and apply for another work or attend interview. You have to work from Monday to Saturday from 7:30 - 5:00pm. I even tried and asked about the salary payment here but I got low response them |

ncpat: Work for a month and give in your best and then you can then let him know that the work load is too much for you that you want to leave, I believe he will ask you if you need pay increase then you can start from 150k Thanks bro. I will do that. The probation period is ending April, I think that is when I will request for increase |
Career › I Got A New Job And This Happen. Please Help!!! by lawman88(op): 2:45pm On Feb 12, 2020 |
I really need good advises from you guys. I got a new job this month and the salary is 87, 540.00. I was happy with the job until yesterday. I took over from a man who resigned from the job. When I was checking the cabinets in the office yesterday, I came across the appointment letter of the guy who resigned. His basic salary was N147, 600.00. I saw all his credentials. He has no experience before and he only had degree while I have master degree. I have a lot of qualifications and experiences he did not have.
I just got depressed and feel like i'm cheated and being used. I don't have the zeal to work again. The manager was happy when we negotiated the salary, I don't really know what was making him happy until now I realized. I feel like telling him to upgrade my salary or I resign, but the problem now is that I don't have alternative now. |

Octopusssy: You took quite a risk but thank Jesus it ended in praise. If your foundation has the spirit of poverty embedded therein then the story would have turned out differently.
I admire your courage but I won't advice my sister to enter into such a marriage. We no come this life to suffer abeg.
Be that as it may, your story points to the immutable fact that you don't need a noisy wedding to have a successful marriage.
Sandra Ikeji, take note. The Ikeji family are too noisy about everything. Only Linda is different |

MoonandStar: I think is her desperation to get married and the love he has for the guy that make her to accept the low budget wedding because deep down she wanted it and she's clamouring for it now which is obviously her real self still wanting to showcase her flamboyant lifestyle. I don't think it is desperation for marriage, rather it is desire to keep her man and the love she has for him. She loves him wella |

Sanchez01: Mostly the South South and some parts of the South West. The problem with the latter is that most of the families live for parties, so even when the bride price is cheap, you might not escape the reception.
As per the South South, most of them are so cheap that you are good to go with very little and wouldn't bother with party sef.
You do have an amazing lady. Most ladies around today live for the glamour of their weddings and wouldn't compromise the Bella Naija kind of wedding in their heads. A friend said she must have all the three weddings, particularly the church's because she wants to use it to 'honour God'. Crazy.
Big, small, medium, quiet or loud, it is most about staying married and not just getting married. Congratulations, brother. I think the lady grew up in the north and the parents in the north that make it possible for the OP. In my south south, even the family want to pity you, the community no go gree for this low budget traditional wedding. May God help me find this kind lady and this kind family.....very understandable |

We4all: Your story is quite inspiring, and I'm glad things worked out for you. But encouraging people to tow your path doesn't hold sway, cos it may backfire. I know a guy who did something similar, and 10 years down the line, he is poorer than he was.
The truth is, if you can afford a flamboyant wedding, by all means, do it! This is because, weddings are memorable, and are expected to take place once in a life time.
There are three chapters in one's life:birth, marriage and death. If people celebrate births and funerals, then weddings shouldn't be less celebrated.
Nevertheless, if you can't afford a loud wedding, then opt for something small with few guests. But make it simple and classy, and don't be like the OP, cos serving his guests biscuits was in bad taste.
Being poor is one thing, planning right is another. @OP, you shouldn't have entertained your guests with biscuits,(cos I assume they were all adults). Instead, 2 mudus of rice served in take away packs could have done the magic. And if there was less money for malt, then you could have opted for zobo drinks which is cheaper and even more delicious than malt drinks.
The problem most Nigerians have when it comes to weddings is that, while they can afford to cater for only 50 guests, they end up inviting 500, just so they can have more contributions from them.
If your budget can only entertain 50 people, then plan for that number and don't end up inviting more numbers so you don't serve them biscuits just like the OP. quote] Try and take a bottle of maltina and digestive biscuit together and see. They go together and enjoyable. Beside, the OP is not saying we should go and serve malt and biscuits in our weddings, he is trying to say that we should plan according to our pocket and no borrowing to please those that don't give a damn |
