the picture you post is just the general information. not the particular info for a particular vehicle. IT is the VIN that contains a vehicle unique info. this issue shouldn't have generated any argument. one need to just input his vehicle or any other into a VIN decoder site or application.
(1) I personally have the 97 camry. Have owned several brands and models of vehicles. can identify 80 percent of cars on Nigerian roads by their brand, model years, horsepower, trim, and engine capacity cos I have very keen interest in motoring. Also several applications that gives the data base of all car manufacturer, models years, trims and so forth.
A colleague of mine currently has the 98 model of avensis, we noticed that my 97 camry and his avensis have similar engine. but 2.0 is boldIy emboldened on the avensis. I measured the length, breath and height of both engines and height it is the same . I remembered that my meco said my engine is 2.0. so the research began. later input my VIN 4T1BG28KXWU254186 into www.vin-decoder.org and realized my engine is really 2.0

(1)start of production for 97 camry is 96 ready for sale by 97 but 98 altima production started 98 and sola by 99. that is 2 years different.

(2)this particular 2.0 was used on 97 Carina e & 98 avensis. so Toyota had need not ship the engine to US. cause the avensis had its US spec.

if your 97 camry came with Toyota 14" rim then it is equipped with 2. 0 engine.
the Carina e was discontinued in 1997 so the surplus engine had to be used for the camry and avensis.

That was my opinion until I Google the vehicle VIN- vehicle number identification.
I observed that a fraction of the 97 camry came with 2.0 engine.
the 2.0 engine is physically similar to the 2.2 but the bore and stroke is different. the 2.0 engine is mainly in the 97 avensis and Carina e.

it is the best thing to be sure of your car engine capacity so as to avoid wasting your hard earned money and precious time on unnecessary spare parts.

Note: the vin is tagged to the engine and also to the gear. it is normally 17 alphanumeric

It is the best thing to be sure of the type of engine in your vehicle so that you don't use your hard earned money and precious time on incompatible spare parts or mechanics doing trial and error with your vehicle. the meco said so but I discovered that the 2.0 in my boss 97 avensis is physically like my engine. I Googled it and learnt that the 3sfe and 5 sfe are physically the same except the bores. that the cylinder is the same and interchangeable like Nissan sunny 1.3 &1.5.
But since am not a meco and have less acess to Toyota engines I couldn't be sure.
Am just wondering that maybe it came with 2.0 that is y it came with 14" rim.
It is only my tinylight that I see with 14" rim and xle.
