My thoughts too. nestkojex: Why did you hide the school and course. If you said you had been reading a lot of posts here before you built your knowledge about these stuffs, did you see people hiding theirs?
This Nigeria mentality. |

I cannot answer that but it is advisable that the opening and closing balance shows. Isn't that why it's a statement. Try source for more funds and if you no getbany, go with the statement like that. You may be fortunate and they won't even ask after it. Ikenna04: the present amount no reach na why i dey ask. So is it going to be considered a fake one |

Take the one that shows your balance, there's no point risking anything... Balance no be big deal to get boss. Ikenna04: If i carry a month old bank statement and the balance on the bank statement is not presently there does it mean it is a fake bank statement. |

Lass Lass you are hosting me in Arkansas. I dey wait oo... Congrats ma'am, well deserved!!! Francangel: VISA APPROVED TODAY!!!
It’s God. I am still in awe because I never expected my interview to be so seamless, considering I was rejected on January 6, 2021 at the Lagos embassy. Glory be to God!!
Time: 7:45am Interview time: 10:10am Embassy: Abuja COA: $27000 GA: None External scholarship: $18000 Deficit: $9000 Second Attempt Consular cubicle: Box 6 (A male VO)
VO: Good morning. Me: Good morning sir. VO: So, what are you going to do in the USA Me: I am going for my Masters degree program in Journalism at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. VO: Why this school? Me: I chose the institution because it’s master’s degree in journalism provides the perfect blend of scholarly research writing and journalistic writing with flexible and practical courses such as Investigative News writing and reporting which for me are greatly responsive to the skill-demand of the present age and align with my own investigative journalism career objectives. I was also attracted to the school’s dedication towards community services that are targeted towards children. Additionally, I was awarded a fellowship grant by AAUW to undertake an investigative research on Child trafficking for my graduate study at UALR. This research will explore trafficking activities that occur from Benin Republic, which is the hub for trafficking, to Nigeria, which is the final destination for most trafficked children in West Africa. I will be working closely with Prof. xxxxx. So I believe getting all these from this university will prepare me appropriately for my career as an Investigative Journalist. VO: (nods his head and checks my I-20) Oh! That fellowship is AAUW here? (Points to my I-20) Me: Yes sir. VO: What is your university degree? Me: I have a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication. VO: (nods again)What have you being doing since graduation? Me: After my graduation in 2018, I interned in major newspapers and magazines in Nigeria as a news writer, investigative reporter and copywriter, such as Bleep, Bleep Magazine and Bleep. I have also worked as a volunteer in Bleep, xxxx, xxxx and Bleep. Currently, I work as a testing specialist for xxxx, a hr software development company and I am looking to transitioning full time into the journalism world. VO: What does your father do? Me: He owns acres of land where he operates a commercial fertilizer farm business in Lagos. He develops and distributes organic and inorganic fertilizer and animal feeds to major Agro-businesses in Nigeria. He is also a well-respected real estate developer. He buys, builds and sells landed properties. My dad has also partnered with several organizations to provide land for their employees. VO: ( Takes the white slip and says the magic words) I would be approving your visa. You would need your I-20 at the point of entry bla bla bla ( I didn’t hear the rest ) Me: Thank you sir ( and I floated out of the room, I am sure I did not walk cos my legs were not touching the ground )
I would like to thank @horlahsunbo225, @schrodinger1 and @layez, for not getting fed up with my mock requests, chats and endless questions. God bless you guys real big!
PS: he didn’t ask for any document and trust me, the interview took less than 5 minutes. |

They may be here but it is what it is. That's why some don't wanna drop their transcripts. Well, I once gave an answer during my preparatory stage for interview and the person said " Stop giving me Nairaland answers".. I died |

I did GRE and TOEFL to bolster my chances and just to have a complete package and prevent stories. CGPA - 4.26/5.00 (I did not use WES, the school didn't require it and no money...lol... Some made it mandatory though) GRE - 308 TOEFL - 99 (They accepted my WAEC in lieu before I sat for this exam) I graduated 2015. It's been long and I was a little rusty, actually very rusty. I studied Agricultural Engineering and worked as a Mechanization Expert so na same line. I got a professor of interest and he interviewed me and that's it. I did well in the interview and he advised me to apply. That's all. I guess I also had good SOP and LORs Transiter: Hi, Congratulations!
Please what's your profile? I mean Did u do WES? Did u write any exam?
Do you mind sharing your CGPA and exam score? I'm interested in the assistantship you got. Did it come with a tuition waiver and stipends?
Do you feel your scores and CGPA (evaluated or not) played the major role in your getting the GA? If not, what did?
Sorry for the 20 questions. I'm weighing my chances with a 4.0/5 (unevaluated) B.Sc Quantity Surveying. no GRE or ielts yet! |

Actually this is my first time of posting on this platform but trust me, I read transcripts, downloaded transcripts, above all I like comments, that's mostly what I do here.
I got my Visa approved today in Abuja and it was God and preparation. A guy in my front got denied by the lady VO so I was praying I shouldn't get her. I did.
Alot of people, in my opinion, got approved today. I think today is a good day. I was part of the last people at the embassy.
Oh! I saw indaboski today. .........
US Embassy, Abuja Status: Approved GA: $29k Deficit: $7k
Me: Good Afternoon V.O: Good Afternoon, Pass me your documents Me: Passed (Hand dry shake as I passed all docs - I20, and all those used for screening)
V.O: Typing... you are going to the University of Arkansas Me: Yes
V.O: Oh, you've got an assistantship Me: Yes
V.O: Typing.... checking I20, ha, your sister will be covering your deficit and she stays in the US? Me: No... She stay in Nigeria ma, and my Dad will be my sponsor. I only use my sister cos my dad was unavailable at the time when I needed to get my I20 out (She actually stays in the US).
V.O: What does your dad do? Me: He's a business man who specialises in trading oil and gas products.
V.O: Nods, which other school did you apply to? Me: University of Nebraska, Lincoln and Louisiana State Univeristy ( I applied to only one school)
V.O: What would when you come back to Nigeria? Me: I'd love to work for multinational organisations such as IITA, Olam, Flour Mills, whose research aid food security as well as consult with the Ministry of Agriculture to help farmers augment thoer yield and increase output (I'm not sure she's listening to all these but I was talking).
V.O: Typing........ Me: When the silence was awkward... I said I'm actually going for Rice Processing...
That's how she just said blablabla......and I heard make sure you pick up your visa........
Omo, I was dumbfounded!!! I just did thank you and left boning. The security thought I got denied but na me know the level of cloud and euphoria that's in me.
Thank to everyone who posts their transcripts, really I learnt alot from you guys, you are the best.
By the way, no one said that we were gonna be interviewed while standing up. Me I've always thought one would sit down.
It didnt last up to 3 - 5Mins
A guy before me got approved. COA - $45k Dean's scholarship - $3.5I I think the fact that he was just talking and confident was enough.
They never requested for bank statement. |

IMO, if the time elapsed while you are still on the test, your answers before time elapsed will be automatically saved. So chill!!!
As for me, before the time elapsed, i had randomly chosen some answers and then clicked the submit button.
Got something like "thank you or so" but regardless, if you cannot submit yours, dont worry, it will automatically do so.
I wish all of us well. the questions tho!! |
