Gerrard59: I am yet to be convinced that the Nigerian economy is that bad.
Can I ask you a question? Do you live in Lagos, and if you do, how often do you go out for entertainment and relaxation? I mean normally, as in over say, the last five or even ten years, do you do so regularly? To restaurants, bars, hotels, clubs, etc.
Whether you calm it a worldwide protest..... You can't travel from Nigeria to Ghana to protest.
Simple thing is, go to your state and protest where you elected a governor.
I'm sure, if there's a single governor that's doing extremely well... Nobody from that state would love to risk it's life to protest because of the benefits they receive from their state governors.....where the benefits gets to them wherever they reside...
Call it bigotry or tribalism.... It doesn't make sense....if you goto Lagos to destroy their properties where Enugu properties are intact, yet Enugu governor is below the performance of the Lagos governor.
The policies that created the present problem (subsidy removal/ naira floatation/ electricity tarriff hike) are all Federal policies, not state policies, so your position makes no sense. Just admit you are governed by tribalism.
snapshot: The most difficult message to receive is for a well feed man asking a hungry and angry man to be patient,if to say everyone dey inside this hunger e for make sense, but government officials with jombo pay and numerous allowances asking a jobless and hungry graduate to be patient? E no go work
spiSeyi: Alaye commot Dangote 100 million dollars and yet Lag GDP is bigger then the entire SE GDP since 1999 . Hatred is not good for your health okay, who God don bless He don bless
Lagos is the melting pot of Nigeria's economy. It is on account of this that it has the economic position it has. It is not on account of any special attribute of LASG or Lagosians.
Kukutenla: That's the false logic they use. In a centralised state like Nigeria where even VAT is national, boasting about GDP of a state is just a lie. No state controls macroeconomics in Nigeria. They are all federally determined. So rise or fall of GDP is strictly a national affair. That's how they claimed to make Lagos the fourth largest economy in Africa. We've been asking them to enumerate what steps they took to achieve that. Till today na silence
Exactly my thoughts. When one considers that every state, including the wealthiest, still derive a significant portion of their budget from Federal allocations, the question becomes serious.
But it goes deeper than that. The actual daily economies of the states are way too interconnected to arrive at such a figure for Lagos as a stand alone. Most of its economic activity derives from it's role as the melting pot for the business activities of the whole of Nigeria, thus there is something inherently suspect about calculating such as its exclusive GDP.
Isn't it a little questionable determining the GDP of a state when one considers the interconnected nature of the factors of production within a federation?
Salewa97: Abacha's family trying to drag Tinubu into their mess won't work. Tinubu is focused on moving Nigeria forward, and no amount of distraction can change that. Let the courts decide, but I believe Tinubu will come out stronger.
Never4getU: This is the implication of protests alert by the organizers.
I'm not sure Kenyans give their govt heads-up prior to their grievance against the ruler.
Nigeria govt will use all means possible just to tone down the gains of the civil rights so as to achieve nothing and that's because u allowed them to build up against it
True. It should be spontaenous. And if planned, max 48 hours notice. This one that they have given weeks, the govt will foil the whole thing, already they are foiling it.
PresidObi: Thank you UN, but these guys have ear problems.
We have been warning them o, they wont hear till they employ some jobless park touts to burn their old houses then turn around and look for who to pin it on.
Go and protest in your home states of Osun, Ondo, Oyo and Ogun states. We will check ID cards, if you're not from Lagos, we won't allow you join the protests. Just as many people were not allowed to vote in Lagos, they should not also join protests.
For the Ss and Se, you know that you have no dog in this fight, don't go and dance to a music you don't know who is beating the drums. Hardship dey, but dont enter prison because of a planned protest that has been placed as a trap for you.
All Nigerians are at home anywhere in Nigeria, including Lagos.
Racoon: Let celebrate this beautiful and brainy dive of alaigbo to the world. Onwenu's collabo with the legendary King Sunny Ade; "WAIT FOR ME" One of the evergreen romance hit track mehn!
Imagine if the religion that says that God gave birth to himself and killed himself, as a sacrifice to himself, in order to forgive human beings that he created and tempted, had originated from Nigeria.
Annalise20: Last I checked Jesus is an Israelite not white And no, we Catholics don't "idolize images of madam Mary". Please 🙏 Get your facts right.
Jesus may have been Israelite but the image used if him everywhere is white. Secondly you catholics do kneel before the cross and statues of Mary, stop lying.
It is too late at night for any sin that is not sexual.
Sonnobax15: And to think that some fellows who also knee down and pray to the picture of a white man in the name of Jesus, are castigating her beats my total imagination....
Come on,what's the difference between you Catholics who pray and idolizes the image of madam Mary and what this girl is doing?
tegrianonigltd: lol humans, they read and then know you so well. So without politics coming in, you won’t know anything? Anything the media sell, you buy. For this dirty politics
You are not serious.
How do you assess your leaders? Are you in their bedrooms? Or is it information on their lives and deeds through the media?
Word has it that Ol' Joe may actually be dead and that the letter purporting to step down from the presidential race in his name is actually a forgery. Several factors appear to be pointing to this as appears in this thread -
blueAgent: But it is not inferiority ,that make you to leave your country to immigrate to another man's country?
Ol boy I am in Lasgidi forever.
And no, immigration is not necessarily a consequence of inferiority. The number one immigrants in the world are white people otherwise what are they doing in America.
tegrianonigltd: All of a sudden, you know him from Nigeria 😁😁😁😁😁😂😂😂😂😂😂😂, you read online and definitely know him so well than his mother. Una too funny
Keep playing the ostrich as though that is not a man who has led a public life. Anything to defend the cult leader. Slave.
My dear, if at all you want to wish away the fact that his deeds for decades are in the public space, at least take this to the bank: he is a convicted felon.
Agugbadin: Repair your country and let others migrate to your country, how can you hate someone because he tried to control illegal migration to his country
As though that is all he has done and said.
Blackman, your slavery rests in your inferiority complex.
Thank you for the last time and with that I think we can say good night. All the best good brother.
PS: Just so you learn to stop throwing assumptions around, I despise both Buhari and Tinubu and I think GEJ is a saint compared to them. And no, I did not vote such people, I campaigned against them.
